Sydney won a flag with the slowest midfield ever assembled - Hawthorn won three. If you can smash the opposiiton at the contest - you can win. There is enough class in Charlie and Harry and Martin - to work with. I think we are a KPD and a HFF short of easy top4 finishes for 2-3 years. Then again my bias is big is better - I have never packed into a scrum with runts.
Voss will favour contested players and structures even more so in finals.
It’s our best trait and we’ve had the chance in the past three-four weeks to explore who will thrive best in that environment.

How many goals has Fogarty kicked this season and just out of interest, when was his last goal ?
I understand he brings pressure but in finals, that’s got to be a given for everyone.
Fogarty’s kicking is a real issue and reckon you’ve got to bring more to the table than just pressure.
Durdin is quicker and more dynamic, should’ve finished with 2 goals yesterday … he offers more than Fogarty imo …
Voss - defence first. Fogarty is miles ahead in positioning and pressure. Durdin is 'manic' in activity but that doesn't translate into structured press. He's a bit all over the place and isn't strong enough to stick tackles. Voss will definitely favour experience and team first defensive structures.

The best pressure in the world is scoreboard pressure.
Owies has added 10m to his kicking range and it’s made him far more dangerous.
Fogarty doesn’t score which must always be part of a forwards arsenal in punishing the opposition and rewarding the work of teammates further afield.
At the other end, feel Boyd’s game is far more suitable to September than Fisher’s.
Barring Williams and Silvagni, we’re likely to have a full list to choose from which will be very interesting …

Wow !! Wholesale dumpings of the very players who got us here anyway! No way known the likes of Cincotta, Fogarty, Hollands or even Cunners on last night's form get dropped. Sooooo Old Carlton people! We've gone past this trip, the Big Names win games s@#$ show
Genuinely interested in who you think will make way for likely inclusions Cripps, Docherty and Motlop?

I agree that Fisher only works when everything else is going well. He was making position as a backwards option last night, then roosting it anyway. Stat padding.

His lack of physicality will cost us in a final.

Boyd is a better kick, is quicker and defends better one on one. The only issue is form and match fitness.
Turns it over alot also.

In all honesty, Sydney are not winning this game in 2 weeks time. Our inside game is truly terrible and that is one of your teams strengths. I am happy to make the finals but we are not going passed week 1.
Understand your point of view but you are one of last year’s grand finalists.

You shouldn’t be taken lightly

I don’t have confidence Hollands (yet) or Fisher are made for finals.

Feel Boyd is a better bet and if we are to go weeks in I’d like him there.
Fisher has been excellent for a few weeks. Not sure what kind of message it sends to the playing group to can him after one down game, a game that was weird from almost everyone. It’s not like bringing in boys is like trying to fit Cripps and doc back in.

In hindsight I think it was probably a poor move not to give Boyd a run yesterday (in place of a rested Saad, for example).

Really should be in the side but they may be reluctant to play him now with no senior footy under the belt. Agree he is much better suited to the pressure of a final than Fisher.

Probably won't be popular, but I think we seriously need to consider dropping McKay. I love him, but I think we are so much more dangerous and unpredictable without him. Charlie needs the extra space. We also need SOS, Jack Martin and our small forwards buzzing at ground level. Midfield was thumped in the second half against the giants. I know we have some big outs and underdone players on the park as well. Hopefully we can get some decent training sessions under the belt during the break and be fresh in a fortnight.

It sends the message that we want to win - and the coaches will choose the best combination of players to help achieve this. There are unlucky players in every side. They are professional enough to understand tough decisions. Those who aren’t, don’t survive.

Elimination Final Team I would like to see
Gee it’s nice doing this - much better than discussing trades/drafts

Ruck - Pitto needed, prefer JSOS but sounds like he might not be available

Forwards - only two of Owies, Motlop and Durdin (1st two have better form), Cuningham getting more of it (tick) and Cottrell is a great runner, kicks goals and could play wing if Acres doesn’t work out plus his TOG allows others (Cripps and other mids) a rest. So Fogarty misses for mine especially with mids returning limiting his dual role (but suspect MC will reverse this).

Defense - Docherty to come back in, with all the mids back then I think we return him to defense (defense wins finals).

Mids - to Dow or not - Cripps, Cerra & Walsh are in (obvs), Hewett is in good form and Cripps is carrying sore ribs, Dow is in career best form (didn’t expect me to defend),
If Acres doesn’t get up then shift Docherty to wing and Fisher to backline
OR Hollands back to wing

In : Pittonet Cripps Docherty Motlop Fisher (sub)

Out : Fogarty Hollands Fisher Durdin Marchbank (sub)

FB: Cincotta Weitering Kemp
HB: Saad McGovern Newman
C: Acres Cripps Walsh
HF: Martin McKay Cuningham
FF: Motlop Curnow Owies

F: Pittonet Cerra Dow

Docherty (d) TDK (r/f) Cottrell (f/w) Hewett (m)

SUB : Fisher - he plays back, mid or forward and Kennedy doesn’t seem ready

E- Hollands Fogarty Boyd Marchbank

What are your thoughts on???
1) Cottrell v Fogarty
2) Docherty (d), Walsh (w) & Dow (m)
Vs Fisher (d), Hollands (w) & Walsh (m)
