My one concern is our defensive pressure across the ground has been sub par for 2 weeks. The contest winning ability of Cripps and Doc and pitto/jsos will help us maintain possession but we are turning the ball over at half fwd and the opposition half backs are killing us on the counter and our half backs are starting to break down. We need boyd, Kennedy and Silvagni to fix this, if fit.in addition to doc, cripps

In Cripps, Doc, Kennedy, Motlop, Jsos, boyd
Out Durdin, Fisher, Dow, marchbank, cunningham, cincotta/cunningham
Silvagni has already been ruled out for elimination final. Unlikely he plays the following week if we progress.

Why are they complaining about us playing Fri Night? Will be the biggest game of the round, it has to be in the prime slot. Carlton fans will come out in immense force for the first final in ages and the storyline will be all about how Carltons stars like Cripps, Curnow, Doc and Weiters finally get to play in a final.

Narratively it's the best set up of any game.

I don’t think there’s any dispute that Carlton doesn’t warrant a prime time slot. If they thought the Thursday night time slot would attract the lowest crowd then they should’ve chosen the Saints to play that game

The other thing that gets missed in the debate about who plays when, is the scheduling for week 2. The teams that play on Thursday and Friday on week 1, will make up the week 2 Friday night game, and the teams that play in the two Saturday games week 1 will make up the Saturday week 2 slot. Just makes sense.

Fisher has been excellent, but he was awful last night. Unaccountable, fumbled often, and poor in the contest. On numerous occasions he was caught out trying to be way too aggressive, leaving his man alone out the back. Put simply, when our pressure from the midfield dropped off, he was exposed.

I would feel much more comfortable playing Boyd on the likes of Wicks, Hayward, or Papley etc - who are all excellent in the marking contest.

I agree that Fisher only works when everything else is going well. He was making position as a backwards option last night, then roosting it anyway. Stat padding.

His lack of physicality will cost us in a final.

Boyd is a better kick, is quicker and defends better one on one. The only issue is form and match fitness.

1 thing I've noticed that I hope doesn't become something of a banana skin for us in a big moment or 2.

Charlies goal kicking has been unbelievably good the past 2 months. 27 goals 4 behinds. 17 goals 1 if you take out the West Coast 10 goal effort.

History and the law of averages suggests that can't continue, that's an all time good run of goal kicking so is due to miss one or 2. Obviously I hope he continues this form, but like I say history suggests it can't happen and eventually will return to the mean.

Fortunately there is nothing average about Charlie … I see it going further toward the insane lol

We brought in Fisher when McGovern was out. Now that McGovern is back, Fisher shouldn't be playing.
I don't understand the need to have Fisher's role, he practically has no opponent in the backline, leaving holes and somebody has to do extra work to cover it.
Our backline was pretty solid without Fisher before so let's go back to that.
