Fisher has been excellent for a few weeks. Not sure what kind of message it sends to the playing group to can him after one down game, a game that was weird from almost everyone. It’s not like bringing in boys is like trying to fit Cripps and doc back in.
Fish has been good in an unaccountable roll which was also made easier by having a dominating mid field. He’s 3rd string in that position.
Would be no surprise to any of the playing group if he was dropped

Elimination Final Team I would like to see
Gee it’s nice doing this - much better than discussing trades/drafts

Ruck - Pitto needed, prefer JSOS but sounds like he might not be available

Forwards - only two of Owies, Motlop and Durdin (1st two have better form), Cuningham getting more of it (tick) and Cottrell is a great runner, kicks goals and could play wing if Acres doesn’t work out plus his TOG allows others (Cripps and other mids) a rest. So Fogarty misses for mine especially with mids returning limiting his dual role (but suspect MC will reverse this).

Defense - Docherty to come back in, with all the mids back then I think we return him to defense (defense wins finals).

Mids - to Dow or not - Cripps, Cerra & Walsh are in (obvs), Hewett is in good form and Cripps is carrying sore ribs, Dow is in career best form (didn’t expect me to defend),
If Acres doesn’t get up then shift Docherty to wing and Fisher to backline
OR Hollands back to wing

In : Pittonet Cripps Docherty Motlop Fisher (sub)

Out : Fogarty Hollands Fisher Durdin Marchbank (sub)

FB: Cincotta Weitering Kemp
HB: Saad McGovern Newman
C: Acres Cripps Walsh
HF: Martin McKay Cuningham
FF: Motlop Curnow Owies

F: Pittonet Cerra Dow

Docherty (d) TDK (r/f) Cottrell (f/w) Hewett (m)

SUB : Fisher - he plays back, mid or forward and Kennedy doesn’t seem ready

E- Hollands Fogarty Boyd Marchbank

What are your thoughts on???
1) Cottrell v Fogarty
2) Docherty (d), Walsh (w) & Dow (m)
Vs Fisher (d), Hollands (w) & Walsh (m)
I’ll take 1. Cotts & 2a. Doc, Walsh, Dow - lock it in 👍
Feed Walsh on the out side & let him run every one into the ground

Can't believe people are genuinely floating Durdin over Fogarty. Sharp instincts and footy smarts? He's clearly been out worst small forward this season. Makes numerous mistakes, fails to capitalise, lacks composure. He's not the same player he was in his first season.

Have full faith he'll turn it around but Fogarty in a heartbeat atm.

In all honesty, Sydney are not winning this game in 2 weeks time. Our inside game is truly terrible and that is one of your teams strengths. I am happy to make the finals but we are not going passed week 1.

Understand your point of view but you are one of last year’s grand finalists.

You shouldn’t be taken lightly
Cage fight for underdog status.

I'd have neither.
Motlop and Pitto (or SOS) come back in.

I like fogarty endeavour/pressure but he needs to nail opportunities.

Same for all players really but in particular if you’re a small and find yourself with ball in hand within 30 m of the goals you need to nail the goal. Being a small you have an advantage to move quickly and kick/snap for goal.

Agree. Pressure and tackles are great, highly valued but as a small mid-fwd 0.4 goals a game is way under par. Needs to engineer more of the footy inside 50 and take his opportunities.

Intriguing game

We will want to dominate the stoppages, an area where the Swans aren't strong

Swans are one of the better ball movement sides, an areas that isn't our strength

The tactics to negate both sides strengths will be crucial

Countering Blakey's run & Gulden's overall numbers will be the catalyst for a Carlton win.

Wrong time to be posting, but I had to wake for something... anyway, looking at some suggesting Hollands out and, IMO, if game was played this weekend I would understand. But given an extra week of rest and his performance over the course of the year, I could see him remaining in the team. I also think Dow has been very good, but someone has to make way for Cripps and Docherty and, IMO, Dow has been extraordinary as the sub. I don't see sub as missing out, but a vital role also who will get game time.

How about something like:

Newman Weitering Cincotta
Kemp McGovern Saad
Acres Cripps Docherty
Martin McKay Cottrell
Owies Curnow Motlop
FOL: Pittonett, Cerra, Walsh
INT: Hewett, Hollands, Fogarty, De Koning
SUB: Dow

IN: Cripps, Docherty, Pittonet, Motlop
OUT: Dow (sub), Fisher, Durdin, Marchbank

Emergencies: Boyd, Marchbank, Fisher
Errol Gulden, is the one player who can really hurt us/ their most likely match winner] and although it is hard for Jordan Boyd to justify a spot in the 22 I really want him as insurance as the sub
otherwise I agree with your team and the players coming in r automatic with the hardest decision on pittonet however we did miss his strength in the middle contests because Mackay is not a second Ruckman

Carlton fans need to turn up in droves and completely sell this game out.
That will send a message to the AFL that they need us financially and culturally and hopefully the AFL returns the favour by treating us with more respect in all areas of our game.

Bring Pittonet back, we look so much better with two rucks and maybe able to exploit Hickey or who every the Swans put up. Pitt does the bashing then TDK runs them into the ground. Do not drop either Cunners or Fog, our forward line is so much more potent with them in there, the pressure, the changing of entries inside 50 and Cunner's forward smarts are a must.

Get Harry to push up the ground from CHF to provide a marking option on the wings and even up to the backline. Leave King Charles at home in the forward 50 with Motts, Cunners, Fog and Owies snapping at his feet and when applicable have Harry there to leading in different directions.

Nervous about this one, Swans and Longmire are hardened to finals, they have the experience that may overwhelm us.

Vossy threw the side around last night a bit but your right Harry needs to be a bigger presence.Pitto back in will help push Harry forward.

He's only been back for 2 weeks and on Sunday he was playing a highly unfamiliar role....

Needs to be in the F50 and only doing a bit of rucking thereabouts - certainly not at CBB.

Like Cerra and Walsh, he'll be much better for the run.

Does Sydney have a 2nd ruck that does the ruckwork as a chop out in the middle? Amartey/McLean ruck a bit.

Need to make Blakey accountable but they'll struggle with Charlie (who doesn't) and the height of Harry.

Gulden the guy to shut down (obviously). Run with role for Cuners or Cotters or even Boyd?

Papley to come in but there must still be a few ??? about his hammy?

TDK bigger and more athletic than Hickey - and the extra week's rest should see him firing. Hickey's last game in AFL.

Pitto? I'll say no.

So, we all agree Doc and Cripps come back in - Fisher one obvious out imo (Cinc built for finals, and will be grateful for the week off), one of Hollands, Cuners or Cotters the other (presuming Acres ok to play).

And Durdin out for Motlop a pretty easy decision.

Swans team on Sunday gone.

I thought Marchbank was a level above a fair number of his teammates once he came on. Such clean hands in the air.

Gov did try 3 stab passes straight up the middle and butchered every one of them. His good is good but he's throwing in some bad moments a bit too frequently.
Marchbank lost 50% of his 1 on 1s against GWS,
