I have forgotten what the position is with Sam Menegola. We could do with his calmness under pressure, and his generally good kicking.

Menegola is set to miss the "medium term" after undergoing surgery on his knee, having pulled up sore following Geelong's match simulation against Hawthorn on February 23.

That is Unfortunate for him and the club. On the positive side, hopefully we will have him fresh for the latter part of the season.

kicking, maybe; calmness?- looked like pure slowness. He often got caught while he acted as if he had the time in motion of Pendles

So all of his 116 games have been blighted by his slowness? Ha.

Simon Lloyd on Krock footy coverage tomorrow - they'll be grilling him tomorrow for updates

Hopefully benny and tom ask him about why no update on neale.

Neale & Mullin will be top of the asking pile

Interestingly, we've had updates each round but there was no injury update this round
I thought I saw a comment somewhere about Mullin but I can’t find it now?

Neale is a foot problem. Think related to the ankle he did in pre season

Top of my list to ask would be Hawkins! And try and get a better answer than given to date

We’ve already got the answer on Hawkins - problem is most people can’t or won’t process it.

He’s 34/35 and had a very limited pre season. Was always going to be playing catch up but just has to keep playing. Training load and match fitness is all he requires and that takes time. Decision was made (with fitness staff) to keep playing him with a view to being better placed by 2nd half of the year.

No benefit in missing games or playing VFL. Even at current fitness he’s a better option than some others, and still demands a key opposition defender. Similar to when he was playing through back issues.

If we are going for updates on player currently outside the best 28, like Conway, Mullin and Neale, maybe include Foster and Kroeger.
Exactly- the lack of any detail about Kroeger is notable.

Health Update | De Koning Likely for Gather Round

Geelong GM of Football Simon Lloyd has given an update on the Cats' injury list

Geelong defender Sam De Koning is expected to be fit to face the West Coast Eagles in Adelaide this weekend, according to Geelong GM of Football Simon Lloyd.

De Koning copped a heavy knock against Gold Coast and pending a final clearance from the club’s medical staff, will join his teammates in Adelaide for Gather Round.

"Sam's had a really good couple of training sessions late last week and our expectation is that Sam will be available to play, but again, we need to get the final tick off from our chief medical officer," Lloyd said.

Jed Bews will miss at least the next fortnight after suffering a head knock against Hawthorn on Easter Monday, but according to Lloyd, is in good spirits.

"Jed's obviously entered the concussion protocols, so that will be a gradual return over the next 12-14 days," he said. "Jed's in good spirits at the moment, and we're guided by our medical team in that space."

Developing ruckman Toby Conway and high flying defender Jack Henry are both making strong progresses in their respective reconditioning programs.

"Toby is currently progressed through his reconditioning program, he's running, and so now skills will be introduced, and his running volume will be increased, so Toby's tracking really well.

"Jack's going through a reconditioning program as well and there's been no hiccups. I saw him with the boxing gloves on this morning and again, things for will increase for Jack in the coming weeks."

Lloyd said he was especially pleased to see James Willis play his first game of the season in the VFL on Monday after hip surgery.

"James had surgery some months back," he said.

"It was pretty exciting for the entire team to see James return and to come back and play his first game at the MCG, and we were all there for him.

"It speaks to James and his resilience because it is very difficult for a young player to come through that. He's a strong hard player and it's just great to see him back. and hopefully now he gets consecutive games and he can show the team he is a quality player."

Lloyd has encouraged all South Australian-based Geelong supporters to come down to Woodville-West Torrens on Saturday for the club’s open training session.

"We fly out on Friday but we'll have an open training session so if everyone can get to Woodville- West Torrens on Saturday morning at 10.30am, that's where Tyson Stengle played in a premiership in 2021 and Tyson wants to see all Cats fans and members there.

"We'll be doing a heap of activities while we're there, so we can't wait to see everyone in Adelaide."

Is Kroeger still on the list?
NEVER gets a mention now.

Hammy. Three weeks now, hope it's not a major issue.

Scotty said today he expects J Henry to be back 2nd half of the year.... I recall a few on here saying he was possibly out all year.

Not sure I see a conflict here.

'Expects' and 'possibly' are both open ended, with neither providing any certainty.

More a subtle difference between the 'half full' and 'half empty' perspectives imo.

Was very unconvincing.

The supposedly 'promising' news from Lloyd on Jacko most recently was that he'd seen him with the boxing gloves on.

Until we see him with the boots on actually running around on the training track, I would have thought he's still a long way off playing any football again.
