Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Certainly peak irrational internet posting writing him off this early in the piece. What, he's had 4 games? lol

Cherry pick much? He has had 31 games. The way you phrase that makes it sound like he is being written off after 4.

Doesn't help your argument to be so pro you are making peak irrational statements of your own.

I also thought getting rid of Collins was stupid at the time, but with hindsight, Collins is a key player at Suns and he wouldn't be picked over Pearce or Cox. So if still with us, Collins would be playing at Peel, or we would be spending half our time arguing on here about having a slow third tall backman vs a Young/Clarke/Chapman/Walker/Ryan. As much as I love good quality depth (like Meek), it's only fair on them to get a good gig elsewhere.
Would have been damn good to have around when Pearce then Hamling went down with long term injuries, who knows, we may have kept developing Cox as a Forward if Collins had been on our list all this time, and we wouldn’t be dreaming about another KPF to partner Amiss.

On the other hand, we absolutely say "all good, got all our KPFs" and dont draft Amiss in the first place

Nah, Amiss is a Tabs replacement, it was good list management to draft him when we did, the fact Lobb left and Tabs body has deteriorated as quickly as it has, has brought forward our reliance on Amiss to a point no one would have expected. They knew Lobb had a foot out the door going into the 2021 draft, so even with Cox up forward we would have been looking for someone to partner with him in 3-4 years when Tabs was 30+

I think someone touched on it but Tyler Brockman is probably my most wanted player this offseason. Cheap with high upside and low risk. I like the size at over 180cm as well for a small forward
i blame you when he signs on shortly

I wanted him in the Meek trade last year

I hope Williams is showing enough improvement for the coaches to keep him on. I know he barely gets a touch in Peel reserves but that speed and them kicks have to be worth persisting with.

Not sure where I saw it but I saw a list of player contracts for the club and Conrad Williams was listed as 2024. Not sure how reliable that is but Draper was only listed as 2023.

He’s almost the skinniest player I’ve seen us draft I reckon. Very talented athletically and has good skills though.

As a Category B rookie we’re not wasting a list spot so he can stay there his full three years as a rookie as far as I’m concerned.

Agree. He feels like that dude you forget we drafted and then suddenly after 3 preseasons has filled out, figured out how to get the ball and is now a jet.

Not a need for us but Luke Ryan's cousin is a chance for the MSD i think

He’s 200cm but has only had 15 hit outs in his five games this year. In those five games he’s kicked 17 goals.

I’ve never seen him play tbh but stats would suggest he’s one of the VFL’s best KPFs and is just rucking a bit before he’s the other 200cm bloke in the team that isn’t the ruckman. Seems more like a poor man’s Rory Lobb than poor man’s Luke Jackson tbh. I’d love for us to have a poor man’s Rory Lobb right now…

Anyone know what his mobility is like? Could only see him working for us if it’s pretty decent.

Very raw and skinny for a 25 year old

Needs an exemption anyway

I guess he is playing more forward but I can't see him making it as a forward at AFL level with that body

EDIT:

Spent the last 10 minutes or so watch the Mini match on the Afl website for the game he kicked six. Seems to move alright but definitely looks a bit lanky for AFL.

The AFL wasn’t overly hesitant to give out exemptions last year tbh so I’m not sure that’s much of a problem. I doubt the reasoning for players needing exemptions is trying to stop blokes that were playing ammos last year from nominating for the MSD.

Saw an article a couple weeks back saying the AFL were not going to be as lenient on exemptions this year, who knows if thats right or not though

I’d be somewhat disappointed if they disallowed too many exemptions. It didn’t seem to be a problem last year.

It’s not like Aaron Cadman decided that he didn’t like GWS so didn’t nominate for the 2022 AFL Draft, then decided he’d be alright with playing for West Coast and nominated for the 2023 Mid Season Draft.

We’re talking prospects that thought they weren’t anywhere near it last year. We aren’t talking any guaranteed no.1 picks in the MSD either.

Any of these out of contract (and mostly fringe) players of interest?
Hateley
Matt Crouch
McAdam
Deven Robertson
Ash Johnson
Will Kelly
Kaine Baldwin
Flanders
Sharp
Riccardi
Maginness
Jai Serong
Brockman
James Jordon
Bytel
Coffield
Highmore
Amartey
Wicks
Roarke Smith

What games did he tear apart? I haven't really seen or heard of him dominating any games at peel. Can you remember any games in particular?
Had a few in 2021 playing as forward, one that stuck out where he kicked 4 goals and basically finished the game in a quarter. The flip side was that accountability for his man was at a minimum and he only had 12 possessions or something like that.

Sharp
johnson
brockman
Not sure Brockman has done anything in the past two seasons.

Anyway given our area of need - I’d consider Devan Robertson and Neddy Flanders. Ash Johnson would be handy but I’m sure the Pies will re-sign. Sharp and Flanders were highly rated in their draft years but can’t get a game with GC, so only if they can add value and at a low cost - like F3 or later.

Yeh I’m saying they’d be the only 3 I’d look at.

think sharp will Get done. Need a winger only not playing at suns because they know he’s leaving

He's approaching DFA territory given he's Out of Contract. Doesn't mean we shouldn't add him to the list.

Think we should put Heath Chapman on the wing next year tbh. Rest of the best 6/7 defence remain and Aish spends time in defence and midfield. This would also free up midfield time for Johnson and/or Erasmus.

Sharp would be back up in case that doesn't work. Can't rely on Henry and Hughes in that role. Aish and Johnson can do time there but unlikely to stay there all game. I think we need Frederick on a HFF tbh.

Wouldn't want to guarantee Sharp too much game time but they'd be opportunities with only an injury or two.

Actually think there's a few others on that list I'd give thought to. I believe James Jordan was delisted at the end of 2020 so he might be a free agent. Probably unrealistic though.
