Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Tall forwards and tall backs are the least of our list problems. Lack of pace and size in the midfield is our major list deficiency. Any trade or draft capital we have should be spent on the midfield.
As Swiggy says, Johnson and Ras are big. Noddy was also a midfielder at times underrage and then there is Jackson.

The last thing we should do is pick big midfielders for the sake of it.

Fast ones I agree would help. Ideally one that can play forward.
Johnson & Erasmus fix that

Another Stephen Hill would be perfect for us right about now.

His value isn't set by how much he used to be on, its set by how much someone would pay him now and there is no way he's getting 500k from anyone.
I agree - he would be nowhere near that money he was on with GC. Also he signed 3 year contract to end of 2026. Brodie has some areas to work on. No reason why he can’t get himself back into the team and find the form he had last year. Fyfe out will provide another opportunity. Essentially Wilson has played 2 seasons at Peel and Hughes played prior to this year 2 seasons at Peel. We do need depth and Brodie has shown he can play he just needs to find his mojo again.

Brodie won’t hurt us. The inclusion of JOM will.

Now I don't think he will actually hurt us, and I don't think the Brodie contract will hurt us.

What The Hell Just Happened Reaction GIF

I think we are still chasing one more genuine KPF regardless of how anything with Treacy turns out. Even if Treacy comes good, you can get Jackson more onball time which would go a decent way to addressing any midfield size issues. Darcy tapping to Dogga is close to unstoppable when they are in there together and will only get stronger.

Hell, from what Treacy has shown glimpses of when in the ruck, putting him onball for stints wouldnt be the worst either. I think there's a glimpse of a genuine fwd/mid role from him
I think a player like Rankine is a bigger need than a new KPF.

Is Harry Himmleberg an upgrade on Treacy? Good for 1 to 1.5 goals a game.
Locked in best 22??
He is a free agent this year.

Cam Zurhaar is a free agent end of 2024.

Don't see any other gettable free agents but probably missed a few.

4 years for a 29 year old. Pushed a younger Will Brodie out of the side.

Now I don't think he will actually hurt us, and I don't think the Brodie contract will hurt us. But if you think Brodie contract will hurt us then you must agree that JOM conrtacts hurts too, because he's the one that affected the Brodie situation the most.
Brodie pushed himself out the side, the opportunity was there, JOM didnt start the season well and we opted for Fyfe to go forward. Brodie was poor

JOM was traded in on 4 years and part of our leadership group. He played worse than Brodie at the start of the season but was never going to be dropped because of those reasons

disagree there really, but fair enough

clearly though JOM offers more than Brodie can atm, hes still got time to work himself back into the team even though hes now behind Ras and MJ as well, dont think thats JOMs fault

Shultzy is always a free agent when out of contract because of our move to delist and then rookie him.

For a B22 guy coming from the east that was a dumb move ... even if he never ends up going anywhere else

Lachie Shultz wants to head home. Western Bulldogs preferred club.
Where did you hear that? I think he was listed as a free agent due to the contract he signed last ttime and we get draft compensation for him if we don't match.

He looked well off the pace and the AFL cut list sizes

But yes, it's a good message to the team to delist older players rather than younger ones who still have growth
