I suppose it's all about where each of us see our list and if we are close to a premiership or not. And I don't buy into the fact of injuries. We have very minimal compared to some clubs.
For me I think we are more than just a half forward, a speedy mid and a ruck away. There's about 12 players I see on our list that I think are really really good and would like a big chunk removed or traded. The trades won't happen because supporters would lose it and claim we were so close to winning a premiership. But I don't see it even though I've been all for our rebuild etc over the past 7 or so years. I think our balance is out of whack and our midfield is a major problem.
For me, I think we need 2 really good years of drafting, and trading off the players who won't give enough in 3 or 4 years time. Having next to no one in the up and comers in the age group of 18-21 right now will hurt our future. And to bring in a few 26 or dso year olds to fill gaps will be a really really bad outcome for our future not to mention our cap.
Just a vibe and the cook interview ..feel like where there is smoke there is fire .. too many people saying it and if we had the cash we would be targeting someone .. will soon find out , we draft all 18 year olds and get another acres deal done we know

Cook didn’t say anything about our cap being maxed.
As for targets, we’re not even half way through the season. How do you know who is available, and who we are and are not interested in?

Nope. We have many like McGovern, Dow coming out of contract. The players coming out won’t be demanding or receiving big contracts. I think when all is said and done, we will be going hard into the draft and then we’ll have an opportunity to go after someone decent. That’s my vibe,
As i said I took cooks comments as maxed , the media saying it that’s my vibe and feel of it and my last comment is will find out at the end of the year .. if we finish 7-12 and only draft young kids I think that’s as good as telling me our cap is tight .. The way I see TDK situation.
We need a forward/ruck. He's never proven he can be that. If he does then we need him. If not, we have a decent ruckman and he's expendable.
We need forwards. We don't really have players I would call good half forwards in our side. We have a spot in our side for a good quick inside mid. We badly need a forward/ruck and a few good half forward flankers.
TDK, if he can help is get what we need by either being traded or by becoming that player then great but at this stage, we are best to trade him IF that means we get what we need.

Elijah Hollande, former No.7 pick (Ollie’s bro), doesn’t seem to be getting a game at the GC. Would he be a good target for us, fwd/mid, I don’t know much about him or his current situation. Anyone know much about his current situation ?

If by "current situation" you mean is he contracted. Then yes, until the end of next year. If not, then I'm not sure the question you're asking sorry mate

When the greatest criticism of our list is that it is too top heavy, why would drafting talented kids and targeting undervalued role players/depth be a bad thing?
We may not have the wriggle room for a high end FA or trade but 2-3 moneyball recruits (Hewett/Acres/Newman) and another kid like Ollie would be a great result.
There’s a fair bit of salary in the 2s/rehab room that would be better used in the 1s, I think that will be the focus this off season.
Sorry I meant, how is he going at the moment, why isn’t he playing seniors, how’s is he playing in the VFL? etc. perhaps he could be gettable, would he be worth looking at…

Dow just finished up with 40 possessions and 10 clearances. Not getting a chance. Disgraceful.
Yes people wanting to turn TDK into a defender just because his brother is, doesn’t make much sense as we don’t need him to be a defender. That’s the most settled part of our lineup, unless you want to swap him around with Young (imo not a great idea)
Ginnivan named sub, he's been a bit fringe at Collingwood, would be silly if we didn't have a crack at him. Probably ungettable but worth asking.
Yeah our problem is we are in the virtue game and not the premiership game anymore. He's probably going to be a premiership player at season's end.

This is one of our problem with our list build, we have ignored certain personalities and now we have a side with no forward and no personality and go about it.
Exactly the sort of player we need.
Or we can continue to ignore these sort of personalities and just let them go and be good players at other clubs and win premierships there.
I don't care about indiscretions and stuff like that, good sides have these sort of players in them, we took on Charlie Curnow after mucking up, he slid because of it. Unfortunately this sort of stuff is common enough these days, he just got caught.
IMO it's a hole in our recruiting being so rigid on personalities. I know we had to create a culture but that's done now, we're ready to take in all types.

Cumberland in the VFL kicked 4 yesterday. Should be right in his ear
The last thing we need is to burden ourselves with anymore fringe players. I'd rather hit the draft for some AFL ready-made teenagers (like Gibney & Horne-Francis) who will improve us. We had one one our list with Caminiti but somehow overlooked him.
So obivous that we needed small players with speed last year. Then we got another 190+cm midfield player Acres.
It's a dumb recruit, we don't need him. He's not bad but we are not addressing our problems at all.

Acres is terrible, he may run the wings but that’s all , we paid way overs for him. No wonder freo didn’t care to see him go.
