As weagles Get first pick what do we throw at them to get Harley Reid?
dow? Fisher? Tdk? Motlop? + Draft picks?…
he’s not wanting to play for them…let’s do whatever we can
Pretty sure many clubs will be planning a way to do a deal, 1st pick this year & next year would be minimum.

When the greatest criticism of our list is that it is too top heavy, why would drafting talented kids and targeting undervalued role players/depth be a bad thing?

We may not have the wriggle room for a high end FA or trade but 2-3 moneyball recruits (Hewett/Acres/Newman) and another kid like Ollie would be a great result.

There’s a fair bit of salary in the 2s/rehab room that would be better used in the 1s, I think that will be the focus this off season.

On current form/output are additions like that putting us top 2 or 4?

Is Mcgov coming out of contract this year?

The amount of contests he shirked today alone I'd be wondering what our plans for him in the future look like?
Offering him up and accepting next to nothing for him. For the sake of the culture of this club, we need to sell him as fast as we can. The sooner we get rid of these high profile/paid, injury prone mercenaries the better. Same with Martin, Williams, Cuningham and Marchbank. I'm done with the same lead anchors holding this club down. This list is not going to make it, not even close. We need an injection of youth and start again.

Not if we continue to play dumb football.

I’ve just got no idea what to think. Last year I thought we’d make the 8 at the start of the year and changed to top 6 mid season, this season my expectation was top 6.

Now we look so far off it and I don’t see picking kids and a few tile players changing much.

We need both a fresh new game plan and to continue rejuvenating and strengthening the bottom half of our list.

Our top 10 is what it is (unless one of our kids comes on quickly) and we must work around that.

He looked rubbish from the first 15 seconds of the season opener when he dropped a sitter that led to Martin kicking the first goal.

Preserving his body and/or checked out? Rumours were swirling a few weeks ago that he was moving on at the end of the year.

One of the worst contracts in our clubs history. A great acquisition in theory but just hasn’t worked.

He’s been one of the greatest disappointments of the whole year to date.

And, there’s been a few.

thought he was going to be that real missing piece for our team as an intercepting defender. Instead, he’s miles off.

trade for a late 2nd rounder is probably the best we could get. Move him on.

Reid is a standout, but I would never offer massive overs for 1 player

Crows offered up heaps for pick 1 (JHF)

What they offered (which was knoked back), essentially gained them Rankine, Rachelle, Dawson

I think even if we offered this year's first, next year's and whatever we get for TDK it wouldn't be enough. Given their age profile the only player they would trade that pick for is probably Walsh.

Zac Fisher for Sam Flanders

Who says no ?

Talk of trading up for Reid is fun but pointless. There are teams with more capital than us such as Melbourne who have far less holes in their lists that can afford to go hard at him without causing any real damage to their list profile.

We have widespread weaknesses that need to be addressed with multiple picks/players, specifically in the run, speed and skill departments. Adding Reid to our list while awesome that we have a freakish talent for the next decade won't provide much in terms of addressing our list needs. His two best positions are half back and playing as a bigger body inside mid. Both are positions we are stacked in.

Unless Austin is planning on totally blowing up our list in terms of the senior core and going full youth by trading Cripps, Doc, Gov etc... bundling up a package for Reid won't do much for us.

Any of Watson, Duursma, Mckercher or Moir would be better picks for us at this stage.
Watson arguably the best small forward to come through in decades and has every trait we're looking for aside from being 170cm tall.

The last thing we need is to burden ourselves with anymore fringe players. I'd rather hit the draft for some AFL ready-made teenagers (like Gibney & Horne-Francis) who will improve us. We had one one our list with Caminiti but somehow overlooked him.

Thing is it is entirely possible we get a top 5 pick the way we are playing, so getting a ready to go gun is a possibility.

Acres is terrible, he may run the wings but that’s all , we paid way overs for him. No wonder freo didn’t care to see him go.
his disposal is garbage as is him trying to mark a ball…it’s soooooo bad!

Well we paid nothing really, and yes, that’s still probably too much.

Due to our other wingman on the list he seemed like the second coming of Robbie flower in comparison, but now not so much. I’m not even sure he’s an upgrade on LOB.

Was called out by the commentary team as well.

So many one armed marking attempts, half punches, not a good look

Plays like a guy who doesn’t trust his body and is in self preservation mode worrying that if he gets injured again his career could be done.

It might be done regardless. He was good first month of the year but garbage since he came back from injury.

I don't think most Carlton supporters objectively look at our list. Coloured by the reputation of a handful of stars at the top.
By contrast, Collingwood have even depth acros the board...with fewer "stars". I think the difference between Carlton and Collingwood is best represented in the difference between Harry Mckay and Brodie Mihocek. Harry is the star. Brodie is the value. I'd trade star for dependable.
McGovern, Martin, Williams...flashy, but not dependable. We need a moneyball approach to the team.
