Dunkley, Neale, Berry, McLuggage, Rayner.
vs.
Cripps, Hewett, Walsh, Cerra, Acres.

Not a huge gap in leg speed in the middle. It’s the quality of ball use that was the difference. Their half backs were snipers by foot. We played Saad on Cameron and lost all drive and dare off half back. Apart from the 1st quarter and 4th quarter when we were forced to take the game on, all we did was kick long down the lines to forwards that kept conceding front spot to their defenders.

It would be nice to add some leg speed to the team but the reality is that it’s the the dare to take the game on, the quick decision making and skill execution by foot that speeds up movement more.
Our transition in the finals has not been fantastic, we need to add further outside run & more quality with our small medium forwards.

I don't see Kennedy & Hewett and Cripps all part of the same midfield going forward.

I think you are drunk. Or know * all about the game of afl. Fancy saying Cripps and doc are past it? Or passed their peak? ******* lol. Cripps against Melbourne being able to stand up in tackles and disk the ball off gave us a few crucial goals. Doc and Cripps will be there for #17

No. Drunk is thinking the other way around. Also naive.

I want nothing more than to see it happen. But I just can't. Looking at both of them now, they have their moments of brilliance, but they are not the players they used to be.

Am I saying they are not in the best side? Of course not. They are always in our best side.
But I'm just being realistic here. Not going to look to them to take us places. I'm looking to the likes of Weitering and Walsh. Those who still have their best well and truly ahead of them. Put some fresher talent around them, then I think something will come about.

I wouldn't sell the farm for pick 4. Let other clubs pay overs for it

Keep pick 16 and use it
Trade our F1 for two 2nds/top 25 picks, one this year one next year.
Gresham FA , Hollands trade, Bonner DFA
KPD would be nice, one developing and one ready to go

All within our means

Williams, SOS, back into the mix
Further development into Kemp, Cowan, Binns, Motlop, Boyd, Durdin, Carroll, Hollands x 2,

We aren't far away at all.

Losing Fisher doesn't bother me much. He seems to have lost the ability to win the hard ball and lay the defensive tackles.

Dow however... I worry whether this will come back to bite us. The numbers he was putting up in those string of matches were impressive. I don't blame him for leaving though. I just want to know who will get their hands dirty in the centre and stoppages. Is there anyone in the reserves that looks like a hard nut to crack?

O Hollands may surprise you next year. Put money on it he plays more on ball

I can this side challenging on 2024

B: Boyd Weitering McGovern
HB: Williams Kemp Saad
C: Acres Cripps Binns
HF: Motlop McKay E.Hollands
F: Martin Curnow Durdin
Foll: TDK Cerra Walsh
Int: Silvagni O.Hollands Hewett Docherty
Cowan Cincotta Newman Lemmey Owies

That’s the core. Only 6 months away 😎
No room for Marchbank?

No to Gresham
No to Bonner
Yes to Hollands at the right price

I think we hit the draft. Fast midfielder first priority, KPF to develop second.

I know we have Cowan but I would like to pick up one more small defender/hbf to develop as our top liners are all 28+

Hard to hit the draft and get Hollands, Gresham and Bonar are both free, not sold on Bonar but is worth a look.

Thought we cooled on Gresham

Hope he/we take it slow with him.
Amazing athlete, good vision/skill/ability to read the play - but he’s only slight.
I don’t think he will ever get “big” but will be one of those “wiry, strong & hard AF” that takes time to really settle in. Need to manage & protect him, push too hard to add size/strength too quickly and injuries become a big factor.
I know we have a dedicated staff to avoid/train this, but players pushing to hard & ending up with “stress” fractures & the like, happen frequently.

Why are we so driven for Charlie to play full forward. He has the engine to play further up the ground- wing/ HF driving the ball in. He has leg speed and drills the ball in low and long. What a great asset to Harry and the other forwards. He was murdered as FF yesterday- me needs to run and run some more. He could kick the ball low and long from the wing to the top of the goal square regularly with great speed and low trajectory. I reckon a greater asset out there rather than being confined by the goal square and immediate surrounds.

I wonder what we do with Kemp next year if Marchbank and Gov are seen ahead of him in our b22.
Always saw Kemp as a forward, excellent mark and great kick. Looks to me like he just does not really enjoy being a defender.

Pre-season he may well train with the forwards. Has the attributes to thrive forward of centre.

Looking forward to seeing Brodie shine in our forward line in 2024.

Those two posts above are shakeups that I would like us to try next year.

CC can be Kouta like in the midfield & Kemp can be unleashed up fwd - in fact these two could swap roles a few times each quarter and add speed in the midfield

He struggled through the finals when the F50 became more congested and the ball was sat on his head under pressure rather than to his advantage. Whilst he can take a massive mark he is not the type of full forward to split packs for four quarters of the game. He was at his best when we found him in space and gave him a 1on1, where he is all but unstoppable.

I definitely think you’re right and CHF will be his go from 2024 and beyond. Though there’s no reason why Charlie and Harry can’t swap in game depending on the way it’s unfolding. Both have experience close to goal and up the ground now.

Charlie needs to learn how to lead and stop trying to use his body in making contests. I wonder if the announcement of Ed retiring had an impact on him?

No to Goldstein. We have 4 rucks now plus Jack
Elijah Hollands
I’d still look at Gresham
A couple of good draft picks
We don’t need much

Don’t forget the two Irishman we have added are very quick

Elijah Hollands playing in his actual position will be a huge get imo. Goldcoast have really made a mess of him.

Look so good as a junior as a high impact HF that could spend time in the middle.

If we lose Fisher and or Dow and get in Elijah with what we get back for one or both of them I'd take it as a win.
