Kemp looks the prototypical mobile third tall defender who can play up in size at a pinch without compromising on speed and rebound. Young, talented. Looks very promising.

this bloke has arrived - now rock solid best 22 and his confidence has found a platform - will only become more damaging from here - fabulous pick.....Kemp looks the prototypical mobile third tall defender who can play up in size at a pinch without compromising on speed and rebound. Lmao the s**t you read on here
Kemp is a defender he has the ability to become a AA defender to so why would he be put back into our forwardline
Boyd as well. Cowan also doing similar things in the VFLInsanity. The most depressing sight has been our slow moving, vanilla backline. The additions of Kemp and Cincotta have been a breath of fresh air.
Next years draft is one of the most compromised in history. ATM probably over half the top 30 is expected to be tied to NGA and F/S selections so it's certainly not one we should be looking at too keenly with 2 F/S's of our own. This years draft has what we're looking for - Forward half game changers. Mckercher, Reid and Sanders the only real proven midfielders in the draft means it doesn't have the core players most rebuilding teams are after, but the tall stocks are pretty damn good. Walter, Caddy, Curtin, Edwards, Read, O'Sullivan, McCabe look like great prospects.Rendell and Twomey have said the 2023 draft class is a weak one Draft experts give first indication into quality of 2023 class
So it probably doesn’t make sense to trade in our 2024 first rounder into this year since we would only get a late first rounder for it - unless we really value someone a lot higher than everyone else does
We may be fine with just using our first pick and see what we can get for some we trade out eg Fisher

I recall him being touted as mid in his draft year. Some players can excel anywhere (we sure could use a Gavin Wanganeen)Because he has the ability to become an AA forward?
Same height as Pavlich who played FF, CHF, was AA at FB and also attended bounces as a mid.I recall him being touted as mid in his draft year. Some players can excel anywhere (we sure could use a Gavin Wanganeen)
Pick No.17: Brodie Kemp
Brodie Kemp will be Bound By Blue in 2020 after being selected by Carlton with pick No.17 in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft.www.carltonfc.com.au
Welcome to Carlton, Brodie Pavlich....Same height as Pavlich who played FF, CHF, was AA at FB and also attended bounces as a mid.
So Brodie, no pressure if you're reading this
Edit
AA as FB, FF, CHF, HFF and on the bench, six times in all. What a career.
Would get burned by most small forwards though. If Kennedy continues the good form in the guts and we do look to add some pace to the midfield, might be time for Hewett to move back into defence as he did at the Swans.
It’s been a long time since we had a traditional nuggety back pocket. Comfortable with ball in hand and sound defensively.
Hewett - Weitering - Kemp
Docherty - McGovern/Young - Saad
Newman/Cowan/Boyd 7th
Even more likely if they want to keep persisting with Docherty up the ground.
Think I would prefer Hewett in the middle and Kennedy at HF (rotating through the midfield). Kennedy is a nice leading option with great hands and a beautiful set shot. Hewett perfect to help Cripps with the dirty work and can play a run with role if necessary.Hewett could play the role Fog played on the weekend
Actually started as a forward and no disrespect to Fog, has greater awareness and better footskills both sides

Yeh definetly would require rotations with Cripps/Hewett etc. More that rotate through the mid the better.I guess Kennedy is that 3rd tall/medium forward, who could rotate with a Martin
Hewett is strong overhead for his size and pressures well
Like to see both Kennedy and Hewett spend more time forward, Martin and Cuners rotating through the middle
Like it. Why is Harry immune to being in the ruck? Most of his marking happens around the ground anyway. Would clear the forward like for Charlie at times too. We're desperate for a 3rd tall forward. Finally having three so 1 could play high and 2 could play deep our forward line actually functioned. TDK is only valuable to us if he can play that role and he did it very well V GCS. Lose him and we have what? Young, Lemmy?
No ruckman is worth big money unless they can play forward. I'm ok signing him up if he comes good up forward. That works for us. Clear some cap space elsewhere. There's plenty out of contract and a few who need to be traded. Surplus of slow mids needs to be dealt with.
They also have a Father son Croft, so they might want to trade out of the first round.Atm, Footscray seem like our best bet if we are going to try and attain another first rounder this year in exchange for our future first.
They hold picks 12 and 15 and Austin appears to have had a good trading relationship with the Dog’s in recent times …
Forgot about Lemmy. How’s he going in the Reggies?Caddy forward, Lemmy CHB, Harry part time ruck?
Hope we haven't missed a trick by not playing Lemmy at CHB at all this season. But if it were to work out that way and those players turned out pretty good that starts to look like a good setup.
The last two seasons of forward line and midfield has functioned well with McKay, DeKoning and Curnow and Pittonet rucking. I think that is a structure that is non-negotiable. Silvagni is not good enough overhead to play that position and not big enough for the ruck.
If we lose DeKoning, the other option is to play Young in that CHF/Ruck role. Lemmy looks a fair way away from senior footy and it's just not Silvagni so it has to be someone else.
They will be an interesting watch. Wouldn’t surprise me if they try and trade up either. They also have a Father son Croft, so they might want to trade out of the first round.
The only Problem i could see with that is they both might get offers of ~$300k plus because of their upside. You end up spending ~$600k and a first rounder on two players who might come good.Id like to see Carlton chase a few 20-21 year olds this off season rather than going all in on the draft.
Feels like we will have a top 6 pick and I'm expecting a pick 12-18 for TDK. If it is around 18 it maybe beneficial to split the pick and go after a couple of Vic boys: Kai Lohmann and Sam Flanders. Both OOC and borderline best 22 for their respective clubs (Bris/Gcs). Both have played minimum seniors but both have huge upside imo. Both 1st rounders too.
Another id certainly enquire about is Fin Macrae although signed with the Pies until the end of next year. Nothing wrong with asking the question.
Use the top 6 pick in the draft but maybe bring some Vic kids home that are OOC and hopefully about to launch.
