I actually find it inspiring that we just keep winning games of football irrespective of injuries to important players. Further signs of a great team.

This is what we have been waiting for all these years, no heartbreak here.

Agreed. At some point as a club we have to pull through and just win these games.

One more big push vs St Kilda and we leapfrog them on the ladder and set ourselves up for finals. I am strangely confident despite everything

Another game against a full strength side. Trust the system, trust the next man up. Passed every test along the way.

Ross feeling a little desperate with those ins. You would think they will be underdone and we can blow them up late in quarters. Go fast and and direct. There will be plenty of bodies running through the midfield you would think.

Keep the midfield fresh and run hard. We will run all over them

You would think if durdin wasn't replacing guv Cowan or boyd would be named
Boyd suspended but yep S Durdin preferred over Cowan, Young and Plowman. Doc could play half back but is probably required in the midfield given injuries there. Suspect Durdin plays.

Does that actually matter? How often do they line up as named? I've never actually looked. Voss has confirmed he's playing. Still have Cripps, Hewett, Doc , plus Fog and Cunners who can roll through. Whether he starts on the field or bench doesn't really matter.
Yeah it does, who’s named where indicates how the roles are set & jobs given.
I want him named and played as a prime mid - not a role player.
The difference being positional set up & the amount of clearances attended.
Named as prime you’re at the coal face & the role players work around u. Want him to have the support & be told to “go to work”. Pressure is already on- might as well give him every chance & create drive for us.
Let’s be really really clear on this - Fog has been a great defensive forward for us but is no where near Dow as a mid, Doc is an amazing player, heart and soul of the club but he ain’t a clearance mid!
Kinda why he hasn’t been played in that position while we’ve been winning!
Defensive pressure & playing your role is all good and well but u need to get the ball first!
More clearance u win & the more u get it in your forward half, the more u score & creates a better position to defend & apply pressure from.
St Kilda aren’t to be taken lightly and the way the Hawks got to them was thru clearance and quick movement

10000000%. And that's what concerns me. He had a certain steeliness about his voice that I've heard before. He really means business this week. They will throw everything at us I'm positive.

He can throw the Saint’s sole premiership cup at us, it won’t matter, as long as we play the way we have the last 6 weeks. Relentless pressure. Next man up. Nourishment.

I have to say that I'm shocked that anybody would rate him as a prime mid, handy back up I agree, but prime? Nope. I think he performs much better when eased into the game and the initial heat is out of the contest.

Bit confused. On AFL site it says Rd.20 Paddy Dow sub?????

Surely not after what Voss said.

His role in the 2s & his best position is prime mid. It’s still a role he hasn’t been given in the ones, he hasn’t been eased in - he’s been the sub with a role.

Durdin is a solid player - a good in.

Wings will be key.
Durdin for Gov is a pretty big downgrade tbh...

Durdin may surprise but he is unproven. We know what Gov brings in terms of his intercept marking, speed and good kicking. I don't think Durdin brings those attributes he's more a lock down defender who can take an intercept mark.
