How many times have we lost because of our players being a ragged, frees not paid.

It’s football - the umpire made the call and it is what it is. There’s no asterisk on this win and that is a totally defeatist attitude to have after we’ve just broken a 10yr finals drought.

Each to their own tho, you can feel how you want.
Screw that razor ray gave them a give me to get them back in the game, so **** them, IT WAS TOUCHED!

Great coaching to nullify Lever and May’s impact; only 1 genuine key forward runs the risk of making us too predictable but despite our inefficiencies going forward, we still avoid them running it out with ease.

Jack Martin had a bit to do with that. Incredibly smart footballer and a terribly awkward match up. Knows exactly where and when to lead. Can’t wait for a set up with him, Charlie and Harry.
Out tackling inside 50 was amazing

It didn’t stop

I don't understand all the chest beating here. Am I the only one who is not at all happy with the win? Our season now looks to have an asterisk on it all over a rather dubious score review.

Don't get me wrong, 8 in a row looks sweet on paper, but it now looks undeserved.

The game will always have controversies. But this one kills me inside. I want my team fighting and winning fair.

Wouldn't it have also been better to lose that one for the sake of the players' psychological approach? I don't want them getting ahead of themselves now in these last two games.
Wtf you on about bro?

That’s the worst take I’ve seen on this forum.

I was certain it was going to be an account created 5 mins before posting.

I'm not talking down our last seven wins. They were superb. We are looking threatening and I'd be lying if I said I didn't get swept up in it a little.

It's just this match which bothers me now. Imagine if we were to play the GF and/or win the flag (don't see it happening myself). Everyone is going to point back to this very game and how it could have wrongly changed everything.

What would be worse is the AFL coming out and agreeing that score review was wrong. I want our season and comeback to be defined by pure determination and hard work. Not by a dodgy goal umpire decision.
That shit goes both ways.

We lost to Richmond last season after a supposed touch by Broad and the goal was disallowed

Be happy with the win. Doesnt matter how it happened. The boys beat their final mental demons tonight.

Bring on the finals

Who is the commentator who sounds like a Basil Zemplas impersonator with a mouth full of food?

Jobe Watson?

I don't mind his insight, but his garbled elocution doesn't inspire confidence.

The real interesting questions will be in a few weeks time with the additions of players coming back from injury.

Walsh
Cerra
McGovern
JSOS
Harry
Kennedy
Some players are making it hard to drop Dow, Fog, Fisher are playing a great role at the moment. Even the likes of Motlop and Owies are hard to drop as well.

Marchdona -> McGovern
Fisher -> Walsh
Hollands/Dow -> Cerra

Those are the three names likely to be dropped, but I feel slightly bad for them all.

I don’t think we can play Kennedy/Hewett and Cripps together anymore looks one paced dare I say it Dow offers that speed but gee could problem to have.

What in the actual…

So weird - just relax & enjoy it.

That decision was preceded by 1000 others - all in a game of incredible heat and pressure.

This after 7 previous weeks we’ve own well.

jack Martin has finals quality - he’s building into such an important player for us.

Potential norm smith medallist ;)

My one negative from the game is probably that there were numerous contests where 2-3 Blues got sucked in before getting all fumbly and losing the ball outside to where there was inevitably a surfeit of Demons.

Good to see the desire to hunt that ball down again, but still...

I want to win fair too. Don't understand the people here who say they'd relish an obvious match-winning howler going our way.

But this wasn't a howler. Every umpire involved, on the ground and VAR, did the right thing. There are 'umpire's call' reviews all the time, including in close games. The bloke in the best position to judge made the call. Given the situation, nobody can ask for more than that.
