The inclusion of Martin, Fog and Cunners since the bye has been huge. It has assisted in transforming quality of our i50s and forward pressure. They are playing their role perfectly and providing relief with mid rotations (Fog/Cunners). But also credit to Cotters who is doing a job at HF even with not getting a lot of the ball, but also providing that pressure.

Dunno about others but I think Crippa had one of his best games of the season last night too. Still can’t believe it, 8 in a row…..

Love this f*****n club!!
What a win!
What a team!
A injury riddled team dismantling a very good football team! Wow!

Crippa brilliance!
Dowy - grown each week! U can see him starting to believe he can get it done in the middle now! Please keep the boy! Will turn into a gun now imo!
Newy- sensational! As in fact were the whole backline!
Some really tough decisions ahead regarding who gets left out of the team once a few of the guns start coming back!

I’ve replaced the usual two sugars in my coffee this morning with glorious flavoursome salty tears from not just Dees supporters but 75% of the competition!
Easy on the extra concentrate of salty tears, savour it for a bit don't have it all in one go

Just thought while the temporary ban was lifted, I would clear the air regarding last nights words, because its still seems I am copping some vitriol for all of it. Almost as if I had killed my neighbours dog in cold blood.

I will apologise for the poor wording I chose. I take responsibility for this. But hear me out:

1. At no stage did I discredit our team's performance nor discouraged any of our supporters celebrating the victory.

At the time, I simply stated I didn't understand the chest-beating. Never did I say people weren't allowed to.
If anything, the celebrating should be encouraged. Despite all the controversies, a win is a win. And I can certainly affirm that the boys played better than Melbourne last night. The pressure thoughout the game was immense. All the tackles along with the risks they continued to take breaking through the corridor was electric.

2. At no stage have I talked down our current form and the winning streak.
Whilst I do have a habit of expressing doubts and awaiting disappointment (having been so accustomed to such things in today's day and age with my club), I have always allowed the boys to prove me wrong. In fact, I'm crossing my fingers all the time, hoping to be proven wrong.

And I must say, this team has changed.

The way the boys have performed over these wins is nothing like I have ever seen before from Carlton in my time of following footy. I love how system-based it is and how everybody is carrying an even load. This is even better than early last year, where the only thing Carlton had going for them was an elite contested game in the midfield. This time, there seems to be many more layers added to the team's approach.

In the past it was Cripps and his fellow stars (Weitering, Docherty, C. Curnow, Walsh, McKay) or bust. This time we are seeing EVERY single player with an impact... even the sub. And it's the unheralded players outside the four walls helping get it done. Kemp, Cincotta, Cottrell, Owies, Fogarty, Dow, Cuningham, Boyd (whenever he plays) etc.

I would even go far as saying that the style of footy we play is indeed deserving of this year's flag. Premiership sides are often made with good systems and even loads. The only reason why I don't see it happening personally is due to the fact that they'll pretty much finish outside of top 4. I still consider the Bulldogs 2016 season an anomaly and one that is extremely unlikely to ever be repeated. But I take it one week at a time and once again, I always hope to be proven wrong.

3. About that score review...
I did have rushed thoughts on it, and they were made before seeing any of the still shots currently going around (especially the one involving the right forearm). But after waking up this morning and looking at several of those shots and slow-motion clips, I've come to it being a 50-50 line-ball decision. It isn't any guarantee Marchbank touched it from our side, but there isn't any guarantee he didn't. In the end, a decision is going to be made by the goal umpire who is in the best position of them all and whatever happens from there with the ARC is out of anyone's control except those behind the technology.

I will concede that such moments happen frequently thoughout the season and I got caught up in the weight of this one given the time it took place. I am not in anyway bothered by what other salty supporters think of it. I only ever wanted for the boys to succeed with nothing but the resilience and brutality they are displaying. This deserves all the attention, as the formline shows it. The talk shouldn't be how Melbourne should have won the game off that kick at all. It's simply the blues winning fair because they played better and nothing else.

If anything, I do see that Van Rooyen trip against Cincotta as a bigger screw up by the umpires. Then again Petracca did throw the ball for a score involvement. And Gawn did avoid giving away a 50m penalty when he proabably shouldn't have. The umpires aren't perfect and every decision missed if they were to pay them would lead to a different series of events than those which have played out.

-------

So do calm the farm you lot. I will take responsibility for my poor choice of words. But I am human.
I have my fair share of struggles right now outside of footy which might be impacting my mind a little (like having to deal with the passing of my grandmother on Thursday and attending the funeral this coming Wednesday, but this is another story).

I too am a proud blues supporter since I was 5 years old when all the pain started, not once have I walked away. I want success no more than the next blue-bagger.

Haha. WT@F guys. Cannot believe we did it. Still pinching myself. When Petracca looked like he'd scored that famliar feeling from late last season began to sink in. But finally we had a bit of luck! And why not? A bit of luck never goes astray. You need it to win premierships.

The whole team piut in an epic performance but these players really stood out for me.

Cripps - played the ultimate captains game. His three clearances to start the last quarter, that is what champion footballers do. They stand up and make it count when it's needed most. Talk about giving your players someone to follow. There's none better in the comp.

Fogarty - maybe a few surprises for some and TBH I never rated him and thought he was finished but just his pressure and hard tackling not just inside 50 but all over the ground. Insane. And got some 'nourishment' last night with 18 touches.

Dow - Awful first quarter I thought, even though he laid 6 tackles not many stuck and he had only one touch. 6 touches in the second quarter but still quite shaky from where I sat. Was pushed off the ball very easily a few times. Third quarter he started to gain confidence and use the ball well. Last quarter some vital contested possessions and really started to look like a bonafide gun. Ended up with 20 touches and 4 clearances (3 centre). Needs to start that way next week.

TDK - Just an enormous effort to counter Gawn in the ruck. love his attack on the ball when it hits the deck he bee lines it and rarely leaves it behind always knocking it on or kicking the ball forward. Looks hungry he's grown so much as a player the last few weeks. Wish he had have clunked that mark in the last.

Nic Newman - I say it every week and surely now it begins to gain momentum. Must be a lock to at least make the AA squad. Hands and mind so quick. Awful turnover late though thank god it didn't cost us.

Blacres - Is he the most complete winger in the comp? I struggle to find another gut running winger that also wins their fair share of hard ball, is extremely hard at the contest and EXTREMELY strong overhead. Freakish abilities.

Can't wait to watch the replay again right now!

4th, around 8 mins to go, Jack Martin in about 20 seconds, nudge, nudge, push, pick up handball ran 20m attempted tackle chase Langdon 10, 15m, affected his kick to go out on the full.

Bloke is deadly.

Is that you Ali G…

Easy.

Fog.
Curnow.
Motlop.
Cunners (ridiculous 1 wk suspension)

Always room to improve.

Motlop has kicked 10 goals in the last 5 weeks, big important goals as well. He's going nowhere.

Fogarty a vital cog in the side with his relentless pressure. Once again, nowhere.

Cunners was just ok the last few weeks but it looks like he's gone anyway for a week.

Also, Saad in the last was huge.

Let’s focus on Melbourne for a minute. Just for context, they are a serious football side. They cracked in hard all night. They were confident and on a winning streak. They had some important players out, but mainly had their best 22 out there. They’ve beaten Collingwood. They’ve come from the clouds to beat Brisbane.

And we were out there without six or seven of our best 22. And we beat them. Let that sink in for a minute. We took on pretty much the best team in the comp, who were playing high intensity football, and we beat them. Just have a think about that.

There’s so much more I could say. But I will leave it at this. Did Brodie Kemp somehow morph into Stephen Silvagni? What a mark.

Can’t wait to see the boys play in person on the Gold Coast next weekend! Go Blues!

That's the thing, Melbourne literally threw everything at us. Everything. It looked like we might break them open a few times but Melbourne simply don't break. That's why this win is something special, I cant remember a harder tougher win in my Carlton life (born in 76) including '99 Prelim and many more.

Thought TDK under rated last night. Yeah dropped a few grabs … the one in our forward line in the last qtr hurt. But the young blokes come out to the club and stated I want to be the no:1 Ruck. The club have given him the opportunity last night against the best there is and absolutely beat him around the ground. Not a perfect game from TDK but bloody hell he did his job and played his roll both forward and against the best ruck in the comp. Hats off to the young fella

At least he won’t be traded for a bag of soggy chips anymore …. First rounder! Or GTFO
If he is heading to St Kilda as rumoured, their first sounds about right. Maybe an exchange of third round picks as well.

I think that Dow would much prefer to stay at the Blues. He's the patient type really... I've said it for years. He'd prefer to be a backup at the Blues than a first teamer at a second rate club.

He's flipped from drifting after the tap thinking about being a receiver outside stoppage to just deciding he's Kreuzer like and his clearance numbers reflect that. Super important surge footy

What about Hollands handball under pressure to Owies for that great goal which kicked started our last quarter…******* brilliant.
Hollands held the handball until the Dees defender had committed to tackling him and Owies was in the clear. That was gold.

Newman Gov Kemp
Saad Weiters Fish

Acres Cerra Doc
Ruck Cripps Walsh

Cunners McKay? Martin
Owies Curnow Motlop

Cincotta Fogarty Hewett ?? ??

I dont think we should play McKay + 2 rucks. Who the best ruck is I'm not sure is Pitto is great in ruck but TDK gives a bit more around the ground.

Who gets that last bench spot? Is it Hollands for wing specialist? Is it Kennedy who had that midfield role? Is it Dow who has handled the midfield role well in Kennedy abscence? Is it heart and soul Silvagni? Then for sub Curnow is also a sneaky chance given adaptability or maybe its Silvagni with his adaptability?
I thought we looked super dangerous with TDK and Silvagni as 2nd ruck going forward, instead of McKay.
Jack more useful all over the ground, but lets us play another runner.
And with Jack floating forward he’s too smart for the opposition to ignore and double team Charlie like they have the last 2 weeks.

They’re not the same, but not how we play both Kennedy and Hewett. We need to keep the speed in the side, so one 1 of these 2. Kennedy preference as he’s more dangerous in front of goal, but we can afford to wait until he’s fully fit. I’d play Hollands as last starting bench for extra run.

Dow unlucky to miss but it’s him or Cerra.
