Just finished watching on delay because of commitments with my mum, but a few thoughts;

● The last two weeks are definitely games we would have lost in the past and heads would have dropped. This shows progress and growth within the team especially with such a large injury list to key players

Harry will be better for the run out there. Knee injuries always take a few games to get back to the form the player was in prior to injury. Hopefully perfect timing for finals

●Dow just keeps improving. I think if he didn't step up in the 2nd and 3rd quarter we may be seeing a different result even with Charlie being Charlie. Hewitt was doing the best he could to lift the team but Cripps was the walking wounded and Docherty just isn't a midfielder in my opinion. (Too many poor kicks because he is rushing and his first thought is protecting our back half which allows his opponents to attack the ball and win the clearance. He is an All Australian Half Back, I wish we played him there). Paddy is now thinking ground wide not just about getting clearances and moving it forward, i think the marks he is taking around the ground is showing that, especially in the defensive half.

However Paddy's next step in development for me is playing 4 quarters at the level he does for three. That will be what keeps him in the team. At this point Hewitt isn't going to get dropped so I think when everyone is fit he pushes out Kennedy purely because having to many of the same type of midfielder doesnt work, as was seen at the start of the year. But.... this only happens if he can play 4 quarters otherwise he is sub for me.

● First Quarter speaks for itself and I don't think any player can walk away from it without criticism so I think we eliminate it from the discussion. The rest of the game had good moments and poor moments but the best part was the team work, the will to pull it over the line for the win even tho it was not a great game.

●If Weitering and Newman had played the whole year as they have for the last 9 weeks they would be locks for AA. They were amazing again.

●Cunningham needs to do more. He has some great assets but he also doesnt get involved enough. He doesnt need 15-20 disposals at Half forward to be impactful but he needs to make his disposals count. He definitely needs to try and learn from Martin because he could make that Half Forward role his own

● And finally, Charlie is just a matured player now and a star. If he continues his career the way he is at the moment he will be one of great forwards people talk about e.g Buddy and Fev in recent history.

On to next week and love the belief we have at the moment ❤️

Spot on. We should all remember charlies luke warm return after his knee. people were saying he would never play at an elite level again ...blah blah blah

They were right, he'll never be an elite player, he went straight to super elite.

It’s obviously a great result, and a tick for resilience.

The game also gave us a couple of reminders ahead of bigger games this year:

1. Come ready to play, against anyone. We were absolutely shite in the first quarter. Had to be more ready than that, and stop the bleeding earlier.
2. When on top you have to capitalise on the scoreboard. 1.7 in the third was very nearly match-losing. Some of it was just misses, but I felt watching it live some got panicky and stopped playing the percentages. Eg. Mark in pocket, play on running banana? Sharing it and setting up teammates for easy shots was a hallmark of our run where we ripped teams by 50 points.

As always, perfect to get the lesson AND the result, so long as we learn the lessons.

I mean I can mount any argument I want. I don’t recall enough of Doull.

Sticks I loved but he was nothing on Charlie at his best. Nothing. Sticks was never in the convo for best player in the afl. Diesel was not at his best in the 4 years he played with us. Neither was Judd - despite the lucky Brownlow.

Charlie is the most talented player we have had. He’s more talented than Kouta and Fev- the two most talented I’ve seen. He’s out of this world good. His year this year reminds me of Kouta in 2000. But better. And I LOVED Kouta.

His 60m drill passes inside 50 are unmatched in my lifetime by any player I’ve ever seen. Any club.

He should win the aFL MVP this season. He’s the best player in the afl.

He has finally matched talent with an ability to stay injury free. He had a full preseason this year and clearly picked up a yard on last year. Which has translated into this incredible season.

Must be closing in on top 5 champion player rating for the year so far. Amazing for a forward.

I don’t think any Carlton player I’ve seen has had a better year.

Just my opinion.
Recency Bias is a wonderful thing. All "all time great players" in their own individual ways

Am I right in thinking if we lost to the Suns, we would have qualified for the Finals due to the Swans controversial win over the Crows last night?

Imagine the melts and outrage from neutrals :D
Nope, Crows win would have been better for that as they couldn't finish above us. Swans still technically can.

Those kinds of opinions are best kept for 10 years after a player is retired.....
in my opinion...................

because.......9 weeks is hardly enough to base it on.
A career is a long time.
He hasnt done it in finals yet.
All the greats did.
Not many can perform at the high level for all of it

If charlie keeps this up for a few more seasons, he is at the croswell, koutoufides level- as a match winner. Finals will tell us a lot as Croswell and Koutoufides won Carlton big finals.
Charlie is not quite at the Jezza, Nicholls, Doull, Silvagni, Jonston evel.
I think Charlie's best is better than Sticks but too early to say he has the has longevity and consistency or the 4 to 5 goal grand final average
