Only watched a bit of the reserves but lemmey also kicked a beatiful goal from 50 on an angle took another mark played on got caught but he will either make a player for us or be positive trade return ..

We definitely need his type going forward. Happy to hear of the positive signs. Need to be patient given his size and position.

Is this heaven......?

The third quarter felt a lot like heaven. :D

Charlie and Big H put on a show,

McGov , what a player.

The ingredients are there for No. 17 folks.......

GET EXCITED BLUE BOYS, forget the last 10 minutes, junk time.
Best to concentrate on what this group can achieve.

Been said plenty but Walsh, the boy wonder, Bam Bam and Acres all back next week....... :thumbsu:

Beat those rotten Crows for the first time at Adelaide Oval and we will all be in HEAVEN!!!GO BLUES !!!!

Was a little worried by our lack of intent and inability to stick tackles, and slow wide ball movement in the first half. Don’t think we get beaten around the contest like that with Bam Bam back in there. Little worried about George but giving him the benefit of the doubt with his hand.

Whilst impressed with our ability to transition from a kick in to the other end, if North kick straight we probably lose that game. Also not every week we have to ability to hit up Charlie and Harry on the flanks basically playing on midfielders.

Thought all our younger boys held their own and won some good battles, and Newy continues to impress with his field kicking and leadership in the back half. Sos worked hard but field kicking was frustrating to say the least.

Regardless of the disappointing last 7 minutes good to come away with the 4 points in the bank and a few soldiers to come back being significant upgrades on the players they’re replacing.

Can see why we wanted to move up to get Sheezel, kid can play.

Im gonna put this down to you having a ‘mare. 2 points down at half time after playing contested football all first half. To being 40 up in the last. I’m not saying we played amazing all game but our best is certainly good enough. We put them in their place and put the cue in the rack. Against a Thursday night game coming up in Adelaide against a pumped up crows in front of a pumped up crow crowd.. we did just fine tonight.

Again, I'll repeat this: I don't think we played well. That isnt necessarily a bad thing - winning ugly and rounding into fitness and form later in the year is the road to a premiership if you can pull it off...

Today we were beaten in contested possessions, clearances, inside 50s and shots on goal, by a team that most expect to be bottom 4. We were lucky that they were missing key defenders, got the rub of the green of the umpires and won pretty easily, and that's great.

I'm just staggered that we aren't a bit more eager to finish games well. We gave up 4 goals in the last few minutes tonight - last season, we missed finals by 3 goals.

Game was turned on its head when Doc went into the middle during the 3rd.

Defensive pressure through the middle of the ground was non-existent for the majority of the game.

Their ability to block, take an opponent's run, protect the team mate extracting the ball and working the angles to find an open player was good. Hopefully Voss points that out to the group.

I want my Kennedy, Walsh & Acres back!!!

Not the worst performance & happy to be undefeated, but we'll get smashed if we bring that sort of effort next week.

But sheesh, how does a team that missed out on its first top 8 finish in over a decade (after badly blowing consecutive leads) by % put the cue in the rack that badly in the last 5 minutes and just concede 4 straight goals?

Easily, like this….

Good win from a team still building style and teamwork around a plan.

First quarter we lost the middle of the ground but our defence was beautiful.
McGovern a standout and a threat for the rest of the year.
An arm wrestle in the second as Pittonet started to challenge Goldstein.
But we still spent too much time on the wing. Sure this will change as we progress.
Second half we beat them in one and a half quarters. very satisfying and good for the blood pressure.
Yes we let up in the last 10 minutes, but Voss will fixthis when he has the rest sorted. Don't remember Brisbane being a 'let up on the gas' team while he was captain.

Good teamwork between McKay and Charlie, like watching the Krakouer brothers back in the day.
McGovern just brilliant, long, penetrating kicks that set up our forwards and tore open their defence..
Fisher a vast improvement, with still more to do.
Motlop gets better every week. Which is rarer than hen's teeth. He really wants to stay in this team.
Cerra great until a smack in the face slowed him up. Doch great in the middle, as well as back.
Solid game from most players, sets a good standard or fringe players to meet.

So much improvement possible, and looking likely as we track Vosses learning curve. Could be our best season in decades. And now, the replay!

"Second half we beat them in one and a half quarters." this sentence would be almost incoherent outside of an AFL context..

nothing like waverley - it's in the cbd ffs - you step off a train and step into the ground - who are these people?

Legend has it that you could fit the SCG between the fence and boundary line at Waverley. I could never confirm it due to the white sheet of rain in front of my eyes every time I went there

Fisher shat me today, official whipping boy status has been achieved.

Jack silvagni's field kicking is normally excellent but constantly missed targets today.

I thought Fisher was pretty good today. 29 disposals and second best midfielder for both clearances and contested possessions. I even thought his ball use was pretty good. He isnt our best mid, but had to step up with others injured and was decent.

Weird thing with Fish is the drop off in his tackling - he used to bring quite a bit of heat for a scrawny 19 year old but seems to have lost that edge.
