107 > 84 = good enough?!?
107 -106 would be good enough for me, a win is a win, I can't take any negatives from a win. There is Improvement to be had sure, that will come, just keep banking those wins.

The first half wasn’t perfect but not nearly as bad as some in here were making it out to be. North played pretty bloody well. Goldy and Cunners still know how to play and LDU and Simpkins are terrific footballers.

Great to see our bookends all play well in the same game but also good to see Fisher and Pitto get involved and Cerra continue his good form. Obviously there’s still plenty to work on but we know that so it’s onward and upwards.

Bring on the Crows next week…we owe them!!!

I thought we were outplayed and lucky.

We lost the clearances, contested possessions, inside 50s and had less shots on goal. We were very lucky that they had key defenders injured and couldn't cover, and we got the rub of the green with the umpires and made the most of it against a likely bottom 4 opponent. To me, that's a bad win.

I don't think this team is playing anywhere near what it is capable of (and to be honest, i am not confident this coach can get us there).

But almost the best sign is how badly we are playing and we are still winning. If we were Geelong, with their experience, this would be how you set up a premiership run: win ugly early, build form and confidence and then peak in September. We are also missing a few key players and can hopefully mirror that, but will need to play a heap better than this to beat Adelaide or St Kilda in the next two weeks imo
agree with the long term stuff but we were not outplayed other than the 2nd qtr

once we put ed in, Cripps went back to Cripps and halved the clearances

but our talld were far superior all day

I would love to have Sheezel but they competed for a ball the points went to Hollands came from behind to halve the contest. Both will be great players but Hollands fits our team better
Pick 3 v pick 11, fairly large difference. For value I’m more than happy with our young fella, as you are. Just outstanding drafting from us of late

Currently they're missing Logue, McKay, Xerri & Bergman. Along with 1st year player George, who was out for the year when they drafted him. That's it. Way healthier list than ours.

Missing their two best defenders and their key forward was injured all game. This from a bottom 4 aspirant.

Also, considering we have a very injury prone list I’m not sure we can ever bank on having a health list when you’ve got a core 5-6 players who are injured regularly.

Still stands, I’m hoping we have another few gears and can tweak whatever changes we have made to be a little more attacking. Especially winning it out of the middle which we haven’t done this year

It's not necessarily a casual relationship (we were also tired and well in front) but north got their last 4 goals much easier after McGovern went off.

Greater reader of the play. Sublime user and takes calculated risks when we need them too. A lot here still don't realise how important he is for us.

With Hewett out of form, Doch in the centre from half time was the difference. He brought the intensity which allowed Crippa to do his thing. (Ed helped in this area as well).

Hopefully Hewett can get his mojo back. But it’s good to know that we can turn to Doch when we need to.

I don't like being the old timer here, but that was a lot like how Carlton used to play in the glory days. Arm wrestle till half time, then someone woke Johnno up at half time, we blitz in the 3rd, and then cruise home.
One of my frustrations from those glory years was that it felt like we didn’t belt sides enough and keep the foot on the throat. Reckon they had it right tho- minimal effort to achieve the win and conserve energy for the season

And thought he played fair game. Just uses it very well and a hard match up down back. If he can stay fit will be a key piece in our premiership puzzle

Yeap, was really off first 2 games, but building, thought it was his best game for the year

Very poor first half, very good second half minus the last 8-10 mins of Q4.
The fact we scored over 100 pts with a large discrepancy in clearance is pleasing as we depend on our contested ball and stoppage work to score heavily.

When we had more influence from our small and half forwards in the 3rd, we had better connection between the arcs and transition from def - some real slick ball movement. Allowed us to stretch their defence and use H and Charlie more efficiently when going forward, also better opportunities to work up to the wing for link up. They were huge tonight.

Undefeated first month, without playing great footy. Walsh, Acres and Kennedy to come back now as well. Top of the ladder, let’s goooooo

All players are my boys

LOB struggled, Acres will replace him

Fisher was messy early, but was one of our better contributors in the first half. Cleaned up his decision making and was a solid link player
I was at the game and they were unfortunately both massive liabilities. Turned the ball over repeatedly, refused to tackle. Either of them should have been subbed off at half time.

Percentage boost would have been nice, but we spent a lot of tickets building an unassailable lead from a 2pt half time deficit, so I'm not too upset. Would rather be 7 or 8 goals up late in games and concede a few junk time goals, than be 1 or 2 goals up early in the fourth and give oppo sides an opening. 4pts is 4pts, win enough games and the percentage is academic anyway.

Good second half lift from the onballers, that's where we started to get our groove back. Great second half from the forward line. Outstanding game from the backline.

Start to regain some important cogs over the coming weeks. Acres back in for LOB gives us a marking target down the line. Walsh and Kennedy in for Ed and Honey gives us two more genuine accumulators who take territory.

Fisher still a watch, but that was a better performance and I'd back him in again next week. Not expecting it to change during the year, but during the off-season he'd be well served hitting the gym and paying for some specialist tackle coaching, would have to be one of our worst for broken tackles (along with LOB). Fix that and his game becomes more rounded. 0 tackles is pretty concerning for a bloke who was around the ball enough to get 28 disposals.

Honey has some genuine tools, but seems to run past the ball and past the man a lot. Not a hopeless case, but I can't really see him ever being more than depth with such a poor ability to read the game. Another with 0 tackles, and that's arguably what he's in the side to do.

Interesting flip with Pitto taking the majority of the ruckwork. Guessing the MC felt he was better suited to competing against Goldstein, and probably a good way to manage TDK without him having to actually miss a game.

Special mention for Gov - best on ground in my book, even getting subbed off in the fourth. Hope he pulls up OK from the corky, gonna need him next week.

Gotta barrack for GC now, come on lads, keep the Blues at the top of the table!
