The problem is, think about how many times we’ve said this since even the Teague days? We always have a faux comeback.

The point is, that kamikaze play style isn’t real nor drawn up, hence why we can never do it for 4 quarters.
It's not about being kamikaze, it's about being pressed up a little better to force the opposition to up their effort to distribute the football, and to trust that your team mates know where to go defensively when it's their turn.

Then when we have possession, trust that your team mates know where to go when you have the ball, instead of hitting static targets that aren't buying space. Every time you fall into that trap, you're gifting the opposition the so much value for every play that they make.

And finally, shut the game down when you're gassed by remaining mobile, just through aerobic effort rather than a surge of high intensity running. Don't let them lock in on what you're doing, take away their ability to have multiple players zoning off.

Not good enough for finals.

Too good for a high pick.

Salary cap strapped through our own stupidity.

Too many big salaried players not remotely close to contributing their worth.

Difficult to see where the required improvement comes from.
I’d trade McKay for a first round pick at end of season unless the coaching brains trust proves in the second half of the season they can make this forward line work.

1st half, didn't capitalise on the amount of inside 50s. Ball use was poor, attacking lanes way too narrow, no run, no overlap, minimal representation between HF and HB, that detachment left the middle wide open, which hurt us

2nd half, better movement and intent, back half pressed higher, so we had a better connection between the arcs

Voss making some tweaks helped, realised we overlooked for Harry and Charlie, so we spotted up other targets and we looked dangerous

Doc going forward is better for structure, but would have preferred Gov being thrown forward

Still, way too inconsistent, Jekyll & Hyde footy makes it difficult to address to put us back on a positive path

I’m 32 years old and have been a member for 25 of those. I’m as desperate for success and as disappointed with our current mediocrity as anyone. But ffs the vibe at our home games is abhorrent. Toxic, disgusting behaviour from our so called fans. The footy is not a safe place for kids any more. The rubbish I’ve heard these past two weeks - homophobic slurs, disabled slurs, sexist slurs, constant verbal abuse at the players, fights. If this is you, grow tf up or stop going to the footy. It used to be fun. Even when we sucked a lot more than we do right now. Go baggers.
As ugly as it is. People have had enough mate. Cant blame anyone anymore except for the club

Voss presser: something along the lines of couldnt ask for more, showed heart, take learnings, continuity yada yada yada

Trying to yield a positive out of the comeback when they were largely dormant for 3.5 quarters will compound the problem. That said, he’s got nowhere to hide. He either spins the usual rhetoric or he concedes they’re garbage. I’d personally prefer the latter but the guy needs to maintain the message to keep his job for now.

Look, I don't think we should be evaluating our season at round 9. Let's not obsess over these things. We have to be better.

Those moments late in the game when we we in front and at the next centre bounce, Kemp as the activated Sub just may have added something, anything, but we went to Ed, who bumbled his way around the ground in slow motion. Everything we did to not only get back in the game, but be in front was tossed away by an inept first ruckman, why we are even having a conversation as to how to maximize TDK's trade value, and why we are not concentrating on trusting him to be that bloke is COMPLETELY BEYOND ME. We continuously toss away games we quiet simply should have won.

Really?! I was on the outer last week and didn’t hear or see any of it. It was definitely a family friendly atmosphere. Booing umpires was the worst of it.

Good result in the end. Certainly didn't deserve to win.

Very few positives amongst that. Thought Cottrell worked incredibly hard. Owies good when he needed to be. Rated Newman and Walsh. I'll have a spare $800 to spend on other things next year.

Not a great deal of leadership down there at the moment. Carlton lose again and life goes on.
