I love how you only go back to 2020. Anyway, my source is someone who actually works in the fitness and conditioning department at the club. McAdam has always had an issue with the professionalism required to be a consistent best 22 player and it’s why instead of potentially being a guy that on talent could have played 200 games and drafted a lot earlier in age than he was, will instead unlikely play 100.

The club has put a lot of resources into trying to improve what he does off field, but it just hasn’t worked out in the end, no hard feelings and we have enough forward line depth to cover him now.

Hang on, didn't you say before that I was trolling for suggesting McAdam wasn't a best 22 player and was more a fringe player?

Now you're saying he had questionable professionalism and that's why he wasn't consistent best 22

Which... is what I said? The club didn't consistently rate him as a best 22 player, he was in and out of the side, on the fringes. Professionalism, not training well, not rocking up to training could be the reason for that in addition to form and other factors.

I take issue with claiming he had injuries as the only reason he wasn't always in the side because that clearly isn't true and you've even just confirmed as much based on what you've heard

That's your take ....however clearly there were things happening behind the scenes between Burgess & McAdam

So player attitude has to be taken into account at the selection table :
1. Suspended R2 ....brought straight back in R3 !
2. Gets injured R3 ...misses 6 games
3. 4 games back in the SANFL after injury
4. R13 - SANFL Bye, Crows unchanged after big win
5. R14 - Crows Bye

This, along with the fact McAdam played the last 6 games, as we strived to make the Finals .....dismisses all your points around not being best 22

It was clearly a fitness / attitude issue .....confirmed by McAdam's own comments & request for a trade .....not by any actions / beliefs of the selection committee

So according to you a player who is not selected in the side due to fitness, attitude, behind the scenes issues with Burgess (and form) isn't a "fringe player" like I suggested but is actually best 22 - even though they aren't actually selected in the (best) 22 players

Should we have any interest in Billings? Has shown A grade mid qualities at times in his career, just never consistent enough
NO ! .....Billings is a downhill skier, who goes missing in big games ...and important moments within games

Clearly McAdam wasn't a fringe player .....a fringe player would be Cook, who's form see's him consistently on emergency lists, rather than a first choice player, when fit

By your definition, Murray missing games in 2023 and not playing most of 2024 ....makes him a fringe player

No, that's not what makes someone a fringe player. Murray went from 8 SANFL games in 2021, to 6 in 2022, to 0 in 2023. That's a clear progression from a fringe player to a best 22 player. Missing games through injury doesn't make someone a fringe player.

McAdam played 25% of his games over the last 3 years in the SANFL, and 5 out of 12 this year in the SANFL. That's the "in and out of the side" behaviour that makes someone a fringe player.

Cook played 1 game. He's not even fringe level, more a depth player.

Other fringe players would be guys like McHenry, who was often the sub, Schoenberg who we mixed between AFL and SANFL and Sholl who played 16 games (5 SANFL) but most observers wouldn't say is best 22

Did we create an extra F1 out of nothing?

Scholl going somewhere for F1 that we didn't know about? Berg for GWS F1?

Yes and no.

I'd have liked Petty/Sparrow/Player involved.

But I am still not sold on buying Petty at his highest price. Yes I'd have him in the 22 in a heartbeat but the cost may have been a little to steep.

F2 goes onto Mich/Walsh next year so it'll get eaten up and we won't even care about the actual number it is.
That’s what I’m referring to, we’ve lost McAdam for friggin points in a father son pick, that’s a waste of a good player
