AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
Hang on, I said the opposite. A second round pick for him is good value given all the circumstances. I personally rate him higher but he wasn't selected often enough to get a good pick, so given how often we played him, it's a good resultGive it up, it's known via Mark Williams he had issues with Burgess and the fitness staff. I'd much have preferred he stayed and got his s**t together but a 2nd rounder for a player turning 29 next season with a history of soft tissue injuries isn't the disaster you're making it out to be.
Strange, I don't see Doedee as a significant out anymore. Sure, it's a loss of a decent player but when he went down it was amazing how well we covered that loss with surprise packets like Keane e.g. having to step up a rung or two, and Milera's excellent second half of the season seemed like it was partly forced by losing Doedee down back, Worrell stepped up and even Borlase put in one half decent game and was important for structure for his other games.and Doedee out

Hope he steps up, but I haven't seen anything about him that shouts "pick me" about him. I admit he has talent but inconsistent.Brayden Cook or Gollant will get a chance to step up in the forward lines.
If he was leaving as a free agent (RFA), is he being paid enough to warrant more than a 2nd round compo pick???? Hypothetical only but I suspect not. I am ok with the return considering he was gone.I don't think many think we didn't get a fair trade. He turns 29 next year. A 2nd is very fair.
The issue is, would there have been better value in keeping him?
Can we death ride port too? I know they don't really have any picks to give us, but it'll still be funI think I'd try and trade Pick 14 with Freo for Collingwoods future first.
Then trade Geelong 10 + 20 for 8 and Geelongs future second rounder.
Death ride Collingwood, Geelong and Melbourne next year (who I think all drop down the ladder) and trade to get above the Welsh pick.

He's already been offered an extension and said he's not signing it. Dees would be worriedMelbourne would be trying to extend him now at a higher salary to help with this. The longer it goes without them announcing a new contract the more likely he will try and leave at the end of next year.
You conveniently overlooked injury & suspension .....he was always picked when FIT and available ....that is, FIT to a level Burgess was happy with, not McAdam's perspectiveHow is this trolling?
Shane played 12 SANFL games and 37 AFL games over the last three seasons. So about 25% of the time in the SANFL, which is fringe player status. In 2023 alone it was 5 SANFL and 7 AFL games.
Players that aren't consistently first choice don't get a ton of value on the trade table
Thats called the Non-Crows AFL thread on this board. lolCan we death ride port too? I know they don't really have any picks to give us, but it'll still be fun
Brayden Cook or Gollant will get a chance to step up in the forward lines.
Cook ?Gollant seems like the likely replacement in the role, I assume we have him contracted beyond next year
His value will definitely diminish one year from now, in terms of trade value with us.He's already been offered an extension and said he's not signing it. Dees would be worried
I was down at the airport this morning and I saw Murphy carrying McAdam's bags...as they got close to the entry, I heard him call to McAdam and said thanks for your spot next yearThey would have this year if we saw them as options or loved them as prospects enough to say 'stuff it, get them in'.
Our own past actions indicate that is very unlikely.
Gollant is contracted next year, however, nope. We have never seen Gollant as a replacement for McAdam. Gollant has only been used as a KPF replacement and his hopes lie in us thinking TT is a ruck and is ready to go for that switch this year. Otherwise he'll rot in the SANFL bar a major injury to one of Tex, Fog or TT.
What we'll likely do is go back to the lineup we had in the middle of 2023 by adding another winger - ideally a healthy Jones, but Cook or a monster preseason from one of Nankervis or Dowling would be in contention if Jones is out injured. Unless we have a draft pick boom, in which case a 6th forward slot is likely an easy spot to slip them in (or they too will end up on the wing).
For Mcadam?..Gollant seems like the likely replacement in the role, I assume we have him contracted beyond next year
We need a more mobile x factor type player. Cook is the obvious one if he wants it enough. If I was him, I would be looking at this preseason with eyes wide open thinking that spot is mine and training the house down accordingly. Hit next season in the best condition of his lifeand attack the game with confidence. For Mcadam?..
Gollant never came in once this season when Mcadam was out for a big chunk of it..
They are giving themselves another 12 months to try and convince him to sign long term. It is a gamble for them to take as his trade value may never be as high as it is now. He's already been offered an extension and said he's not signing it. Dees would be worried
Cook looked a far more natural fit & confident playing HF ...rather than Wing / HBHope he steps up, but I haven't seen anything about him that shouts "pick me" about him. I admit he has talent but inconsistent.
Last game Gollant came in for Mcadam? For Mcadam?..

Love the idea of trying to move either 14 or 20 into next year for another first round pick. Freo would be unlikely to go for it though as they are stockpiling picks for McDonald. There maybe someone else interested in doing a swap on draft night this year if there is a player available at one of our picks that they are keen on.I think I'd try and trade Pick 14 with Freo for Collingwoods future first.

?Surprised Sparrow wasn’t part of the deal, how could the club not rate him, have they not looked at his Junior Bio?
