At some stage North need to stop taking top end mids and building the rest of their side out.

They’re gonna risk ending up like GWS with all this amazing midfield talent being played out of position and wanting to leave.
This is exactly why we should start putting work into players like Phillips and Powell. Make best of a s*** situation where North were gifted a hand that puts them in position to poach mid prospects we should be going for.

In a way, it is negligent not to do that as it may be possible to shake one loose who would add to our side

If you read the article that was written about Stengle and his return to AFL football.. and the words of Anna (eddies missus) when they interviewed her for the article.. She actually credits WWT for helping Tyson turn it all around and resurrecting his career.. not Geelong. He was already on track before he landed at geelong..

Which is an even more damning indictment against the crows..

Even a pissant little SANFL club showed it could deal with and help manage a troubled player better than the crows could!.

The crows just dumped him like a hot potato so it could look tough on troubled players to the media and its pathetic appricot slice munching brigage of tossers that make up a fair chunk of its supporter base..

And boy didnt that backfire for the crows.. he turned into an AA small forward that won a flag.. and we got NOTHING for him in return!..

Just more brilliant list management!..

Perhaps getting sacked was what helped him turn himself around? He might of realised (even with the help of those around him) that he was throwing away a golden opportunity - which would have made WWT work pretty easy to turn him around

Why does everyone keep saying he needed to “turn things around”?..

Are we all that naive that we think what Stengle was doing is any different to what a lot of these AFL footy players do?..

And anyone here that thinks Stengle wouldnt get on it in the off season now is fxxkn dreaming.

Most of the players would get on the lines recreationally when having a few drinks with mates.. especially in the off season.. Stengle and Crouch were just unfortunate enough to get caught.. and then Stengle was again unfortunate to have some absolute scumbag take a photo of him sitting on a couch at a party and then run to the media with it.

Stengle didnt need to do anything.. he just needed a club that doesnt give a sh*t about the media nonsense to take him in.. Geelong was the perfect home. Geelong has shown over the years that it couldnt care less about the petty AFL media’s scrutiny and nonsense..

The Crows, however, panic at the first sign of any potentially poor publicity in the media.. and overreact to it every single time.

Doesnt help that the Vic media love to go to town on the Crows at any opportunity but its really about time the club just ignores it..

he hadn't had a known incident during training periods. Turning him around could hav3 been as simple as organised training resuming.

Mrouch was pretty good towards the end of last season when he returned to the team.
Was amongst our best players every game he played.

Same can't be said for the others mentioned...

The issue is how many strikes should a club allow a player...

This wasn't Stengle's 1st incident.

If Mrouch plays at the same level as he did towards the end of the season, our midfield is going to be much less of an issue for the Crows in 2024.

The caveat being Dawson maintains his level and Rankine, Rachelle improve on their midfield craft.

We are a Dawson injury away from being back to the previous 5 years midfield.

It's a reliable enough midfield that will win its share of Contests and get the ball going our way half the time. The issue is it's not where you exoect to be after a 'ground up' rebuild. Going backwards in terms of wins whilst getting lots more minutes into Sog, Rankine and Rachele woukd be a step forward. But I can't see it happening.

This wasn't Stengle's 1st incident.

The drink driving was the only issue we needed to be concerned about.

I guarantee you that over this off season a large percentage of our players will have used cocaine recreationally. Stengle’s only mistake was that he allowed it to become public. There’s nothing we know of to suggest that he’s not still doing the same things at Geelong but is a bit smarter about when, where and who with.

I mean it’s a whole other can of worms but a player like de Goey springs to mind. Whether I’d want us to do what Collingwood have done there, I don’t know, but it’s worked out for them on field.

No mate incorrect - Tyson turned his game around by realising he was on his very last chance and getting as fit as he should have been by stopping writing himself off on the beers [and ugly situations] the reason many of the AFL guys are on the nose beers is that they know they can’t get on the liquid Beers regularly and perform to their best.

He wasn’t performing well enough at AFC [and Richmond] to preservere with his antics and lack of professionalism- he turned that around by becoming an athlete with better preparation which is excellent and he should be proud of doing it but he needed to.

Make no mistake Vic teams are looking at the Victorians in our squad.
The ones they would be targetting are Soligo, Worrell, Rachele, Gollant, Nankervis. At least Soligo, Rachele are on long term deals.

Richmond played to that narrative a little via the media when the trade blew up in their face. But the fact is that it was an open secret across the footy landscape.

Chris’ troubles were public and any club worth their salt did their due diligence before handing over a first round pick.
FYI Pick 19 was a second round pick, it was achieved by Richmond trading pick 31 and the 2016 2nd round pick for pick 19 which was gold coasts pick.

So Richmond traded, 2 second round picks, 1 better second round pick for Yarran

disaster nonetheless

Worrell the standout in that lot IMO, with Nank a distant second. And with him being contracted for another 2 years (taking him to 6 years) its more likely than not he re-signs for 2 more years taking him to FA. Great move having Rachele and Soli have tied up for another 6 years...

We’re splitting hairs here but Pick 19 was the last selection in the first round.

After academy and father son bidding it blew out to Pick 23.
