I was told a rumour a few years ago that at the time seemed both completely plausible (boys club) but also a long way off in terms of timing.

We are now much closer to that rumour being possible in my opinion so I will share it (although I feel as though this may have come up here before).

I was told by a non-football dept staffer that Nicks would be replaced by Goodwin as coach at some stage.

At the time Melbourne were flying high around the time of their premiership and Nicks had just been extended until 2024 so I wasn't expecting it any time soon but with Melbourne falling away a little this year and Nicks not setting the world on fire, I wonder if this supposed plan is now back in play if the heat continues to turn up on both coaches..

I can't see Goodwin getting another coaching job after MELB .....he's had the best list at his disposal, similar to Bevo ....however, he fronts a Club that is drowning in rumours and innuendo, for some time now ....and a list that is performing worse than the Crows, whilst having that elite midfield & defence

Controversy has followed Goodwin in his entire Coaching career .....gambling to drug rumours .....too much for most Clubs

Sounds like the perfect CV for our footy club

Goodwin can piss off. Has fostered a poor culture at Melb. Arguable that only one flag is a massive fail given the talent at his disposal. And will just embed the boys club culture even further. Hard pass.

I'm not sure Goodwin is a hard pass for me as I think he's better than Nicks. That said though, I agree with you about his numerous red flags.

Does anyone know what 10 goal Tommy is doing these days? I thought he had coaching aspirations. He was highly regarded as a team mate and looked like a thinking guy. Of our recent retirees, he'd be my choice. But poor timing as he's still too inexperienced probably.
