With a trigger for a fifth, according to Fox Sports. Interesting.
My take is we worked with Adelaide to structure Doedee's contract to ensure the Crows got a highest possible draft pick. I expect something will come back to us later in the trade period or next year's draft. Thinking pick swaps for points.

Lyons, Robbo, Hamling, Membrey, Menegola, Keays would all be examples where the new club would reasonably be upset if the player walked out the door with no compensation at one point or another during their career.

That's kind of how free agency works. You should be getting less value and I don't think any of those named would be losing too much value to leave for free

I'd argue that there shouldn't be compo if we're using that logic (which I don't mind either).

If there is compo, then clubs shouldn't be penalised for helping a player reach his potential because of how he's been recruited.

Tbh I think there should only compo for restricted free agents and tweak the system a little.

Anyone who is delisted then relisted by the same club, should be classified as an unrestricted free agent until the end of his career or until he is signed by a different club. If signed by a different club his free agency status is reclassified to "Restricted".

Only players coming off contract who are rookie listed or players who have been delisted, then relisted should be classified as unrestricted free agents.

All other players coming off contract should be classified as restricted free agents.

In my view this gives players and clubs opportunity. Opportunity for the players at the bottom end of the list to move freely for more money or exposure at the elite level and opportunities for the club to retain or be compensated for talent leaving.

I personally don't think we need free agency classifications to be based on years of service anymore.

Peter Bell vs Collingwood nuffies could lead to the biggest trade period shitfight on bigfooty we've seen in some time.

Sadly, a very good get for Collingwood if the trade goes through.

As annoying as Bell is, interstate teams are often up against the entire Melbourne-centric ‘national’ foot media

For eg, Freo will come under heaps of media pressure to from nufties on Trade radio to do what the player wants, think of his well-being, player freedom etc

Meanwhile…
