Hello Shinboners!

The embedded resources below are kept up to date by the trade board mods (as much as possible – we are human after all). Enjoy!

I'd much rather we use the PP24 x 2 as a way to get another top 10 pick this year, rather than just burn them.

I agree with you though, if we even dilute any of the PP's on Fisher or Stephens I will be absolutely livid.
And 14 and 19 this year for another.
Get kerch sanders watson and O'Sullivan

Ralph yesterday, breathlessly: Have you HEARD. Essendon are TWENTY THOUSAND DOLLARS short on their contract offer for McKay! North might have to ACCEPT an end of first rounder. Nathan Buckley says Essendon are NOT HERE to make Norths life easier! SCANDAL and ROT

Ralph today, circumspectly: There is a clause which means what I wrote yesterday is incorrect and there is NO NEED TO BE ALARMED

What a donut

As many others have said, we should make a run at No.1 for Reid but not at the cost of pick #2.
If the brains trust are smart and they are able to get GC's pick #5 and the Scum come to there senses in give McKay 800k a year to trigger band 1/= and that indeed is pick #3 then we do the deal that WCE receive #3 & #5 with assurance that we don't grab Curtin @ #2 and it's happy days for both clubs.
We move up the without losing our highest pick.
WCE lose the 1 first pick but pick up the next pick after ours so they have the next right of reply rather than Hawthorn and they get back into the top 5 of the draft
What more do we or WCE want?

The key is McKay, once that domino falls then we see the true hand we play with.

As it stands, and get #3 Band 1 compo, l wouldn't mind:
#2 - Curtin
#3 - Watson
#14 - Hardemann
#19 - M.Edwards

We get a KPD in Curtin.
We get the most skilled, cleverest footballer in a position we sorely lack in Watson.
We get a beautiful rebounding defender in Hardemann which frees up Sheez.
We get a super talented big man in Edwards.

As lot of WA kids that could be used in 2 or 3 years time to trade with WCE for Reid when the enventual homesickness crap comes calling again.

Id much rather go after GC pick 4(5) if they would bite at picks 14,19,19ff,20ff for 4(5) forget Reid and take picks 2,3,5 to the draft, use pick 40 on dylan Stephens and our future 3rd on Fisher.

One thing that people are failing to factor in with the Reid v McKercher debate is that the latter will leave not long into his career with us.

You’re kidding yourselves if you truly think he would have the option to stay with us instead of going to Tassie. The AFL will make sure that he gets there as a marquee player and I’d guarantee we’d get jack for him in terms of compensation.

If we pick Reid, as a fan I’d be super invested in his development and plenty of young kids know his name already. If we pick McKercher, I’d be far less attentive to his development because there would be that nagging thought in the back of my mind: “what’s the point in caring? He will leave anyway”

So, we receive the Ablett and Scully compensation deals.

Melbourne received Pick 3 and Pick 14 for Scully from the AFL due to the size of his contract, his age and his standing.

They used those picks to secure mini draft access to Jesse Hogan and Pick 20.

The AFL isn't going to gut other clubs of top young talent like McKercher for no compensation.

Goldy going to * for the opportunity to develop his coaching career

Silly Question, any chance of getting Pendlebury for the same reason?

Tasmania's licence is still conditional, so there's no guarantee it will happen. (I hope it does, FWIW, but it's not locked in yet.)

But even if everything went to plan, we get four years out of him, which is not nothing. And the concessions given to clubs whose players were taken by new clubs have been quite healthy.

And even then, we have those four years to convince him to stay.

If we're challenging in 4 years, which you'd hope so, is he going to then up and leave to put in 4-5 more years work at a new franchise to get to the same position?

I can see a possibility of West Coast taking McKercher at #1

Whatever happens in regards to trades is yet to play out and we’ll see what happens

What I can absolutely guarantee though, whether it’s west coast or us… Harley Reid is the only player going at pick 1. No one else is being picked at 1, let it go.
