Time to put #2 and #3 aside and use our other picks to increase our draft hand...

With #15, #20, F#19, F#20, our F2 and F3 we need to go after GWS #7, GC #11 and Geelongs #8 current first picks...

How do we do this with these picks?

Reid isn't worth more than JHF was back in 2021 for two reasons.

The first is that Victorians aren't as valuable. Clubs like Adelaide and Port were happy to pay a premium because there's a scarcity of elite SA prospects.

The second is that the gap between McKercher and Reid is a lot smaller than Callaghan and JHF. You could argue that Reid was a better prospect than JHF, but in my opinion McKercher is clearly an entire tier above Callaghan. I don't have them close at all.

With that said, had the rumours with JHF been as strong as they are with Reid, we likely would have accepted Adelaide's offer of Pick 5, a speculative but valuable future first pick, and a marginal pick upgrade. Had 2 and 14 been on the table I think we would have jumped at it.

If we can turn both 24 PPs into Pick 10, then I think 2 and 10 for 1 gets it done.
Or we bid on walter which suns will match that the brings a caddy or osullivan type into range with our 4th pick/ pick 10.

Fair enough but Walter isn’t open that’s why I haven’t bothered mentioning him, about pick 1 and Reid I really think north will just take their picks to the draft, maybe trading the two future end of firsts for picks this draft, Geelongs pick 7(8) is for sale maybe that gets you mckercher, Curtin and sanders?
David King suggested that the AFL's priority picks for North were designed to try to secure Harley Reid for North but I imagine they would be very happy to see Sanders drafted courtesy of those picks, especially in light of the initial request to grant direct access to Sanders through the NGA.

Ha so the panic merchants have swung from getting an end of first compo pick to swapping picks 2 & 3 for pick 1.

Will not happen - stop it!

After a brief chat today we are definitely taking the son of Kercher, that can be locked in. Probably means no Watto Wizard Watson. With the amount the Wizard Watto Watson was jammed down our throats on this board I did afford myself wry smile.

So suppose it will be the Reid/McKercher double act.
Reid McKercher would be ace for sure

I think the goal should be those two, then try to get pick 11 also and hope Caddy or O'Sullivan falls.

Then shift Comben back or forward based on that.

Alas, the son from the church grove may be gone before we can claim our magoo compo.

I've got some time for Kingy as an analyst, but this is just clickbait musing in the style of his mate korneflake

Is someone able to speak to how much mid/wing/backline time Watson spent this year?

And does Duursma have the speed and pressure traits that we desperately need in the forward line?
Nick Watson's highlights in the talent league GF...he should have kicked at least 3.

I’ll give you the top 10 thing my bad, look I’m not trying to sell ya Reid but if north want him you better believe you are gonna have to pay more than you are comfortable with, after pick 4 now pick 5 going for heaps of overs, essentially 800 more points than pick 1 is worth for nga and father son bids, you are gonna get bent over if you want him but like I said I doubt it happens because north are surely not gonna sell the farm
Mate, you only have #1 and drifting #22 we have #2,#3,#15 & #20 plus points have nothing to do with it because we aren't bidding on player..it's pick swaps?
Who are you going to deal with that gets you a). top 5 pick and b). another 1 rounder? Melb? Haw if they package Brockman & Grainger-Barras plus #4...whose getting bent over?
We won't sell the farm but you're best hope is us if your club wants Curtin and another 1st rounder or simply 1x top 5 and 1x 1st rounder? If it becomes too hard then i think we're quite happy to take 2x top 5, 1x 1st rounder and 1x end of 1st picks.
Have fun mate.

Wet toast can dream all they like. They want more talent than one can offer. They’re desperate, not us

Yep, our aim should be gc pick 11 and go into the draft with 2,3 11 & 15. Get the best 2 with 2 & 3 and then hopefully address needs with 11 & 15.

It depends on the cost, but there should be a decent prospect in that range. We need to cash in the 2x 2024 PPs into this year and pay for Fisher & Stephens but there are good prospects for us in the second half of the first round and into the second round. I don't want us to just give those away because we have a lot of picks. There will be some guns to come out of this part of the draft, I hope we don't overlook it.
