List Mgmt. 2023 Trade & List Management Thread III

You missed the part where the last two days it’s been directed at my own board “North aren’t offering picks 2 and 3 for pick one”. Now it’s the North Melbourne turn for a point to the sign.

Reid can not want to come all he wants, it’s immaterial. He has one course of action if he really really didn’t want to - don’t nominate.

The vast majority of the North board are patient, passionate and decent people happy to have a discussion.
A few of you tonight have taken over and created the echo chamber. Your board, your perogotive

What’ll be will be. Can promise you as stated in the bit under the profile icecreamcat , Curtin and McKercher won’t be taken at 1. Sorry to burst your bubble there.

I suspect I’ll have to leave it there otherwise I’ll cop a thread ban, but to everyone other than the few salt baes, cheers for the warm welcome. Enjoy the next month of this trade circus.

My prediction is a trade will occur. It’ll involve 2.

Chat again after the 20th eh?
Yes, 2 and 17

Mop has been a respectful and logical poster, bringing a worthwhile perspective. I'm not sure why some have felt the need to attack him/her, just for refuting opinions with his/her own.
Yeah id like to think we're welcoming to respectful posters no matter the club. Good to get other perspectives without having to wade thru the cesspool that is the main board.

I don't think anyone believes that he will not go to Perth, the issue is will he stay in Perth. It wont be us coming for him either, it will be Geelong, the team he supports and the closest location to him home. They will work him over like they did Dangerfield.

it is the wasted development time that is a build killer and the new 3 year rule doesn't help at all, Fremantle has always recruited a lot more Victorians than the Eagles and the constant loss of players pretty much has crippled their ability to challenge and exiting players just don't have the same value as picks, because you don't need the pick to agree to the trade. If he packs up in 3 years and says I want to go to Geelong then you are as boned as we were with the JHF trade.

Clubs obviously feel this is a problem, hence changing to the three year rule for top 20 picks, but imo it wont fix the problem.

I actually want Eagles to hold firm and use pick 1 in the draft. As much as I like Reid and would love him to be at my club next year, I love the idea of having 5 first rounders at the club better.

I don't understand why people get antsy about trades with opposition posters, it is not like they are involved in trade discussions. That being said, I tend to ignore argumentative or hostile comments from people who do not wish a genuine discussion.

You are welcome to stay and share your opinions, my recommendation is just to ignore the comments from people who you don't get along with. Our moderators are somewhat sane, unlike some of the twitchy mods on some forums.

I have no idea if it will happen or not or what either side will settle for. The reality is it doesn't benefit West Coast to be open about what their intention is, who they want in the draft or what they would accept in a trade until they get a firm idea about which direction they wish to head.

There is an unusual large amount of chatter about pick one being traded in the media, a lot more than last year or the year before. Pick 1 trades are usually very rare, I am just curious why there is such a high expectation in the media that it will happen.

What happens will happen though regardless what any of us here think is a good or bad move.

Reckon we will come out of this draft with Reid, Duursma and one of Leake/Edwards/Shoenmakers. Grab Kingy's basketballer and Mannagh as well and I'll be happy.

West Coast not taking the Hawthorn deal says a huge amount. It's a great deal on paper or using ****ing points but they clearly want a player in the top 3 who won't be there at 4.

We just need some team super keen to take them. Doesn’t seem likely. Indicators are the draft is super shallow.
I really don't get when its mentioned that the draft is shallow. Sure that's relevant for the overall draft but not necessarily for what each team needs.

Looking at the players likely available in those picks in the teens, they look like they could make an important contribution to our best 22 in the future, especially the talls.

No matter what it says in their draft profile, if the players aren't much good they're not filling any needs.

Going off the latest reports this is a shallow draft and next years is worse, at this rate the whole 18 clubs could be fighting for one player next year..

Interesting that Twomey said yesterday that we came very close to trading Pick 3 to Melbourne early in the trade period, as part of Gold Coasts Pick 5 deal.

Was one of the closer deals that fell over of the period.

Would have left us with 2,5,6

I am far keener to have three top ten picks than I am trade up to 1.

I would have liked 2,5 and 6 in a general sense as I think we need as much young talent as possible as quickly as possible but I have no real idea of what is available at the relative positions.
