There is no trade that I would make that involves our F1. It most likely going to be a top 4 pick next year
Yep and we’ll get an elite mid with that pick next year better than any mid bar Reid in this draft

1 of Smillie, Draper, Jagga Smith, Finn O’Sullivan

Totally disagree, watch his footage he is evasive. Would be a good get for you, coming into his prime and will provide experience. Poorly treated at my club and played out of position this year. 2022 was best 22 all day but x2 nasty injuries robbed him of a complete season.
We had some Hawks fans coming in here to talk up a bloke we recruited at the end of last year, who turned out to be completely unable to put together a decent game of footy. A decent quarter or half, sure. Never a full game. Constant glaring errors. I just can't trust opposition fans talking up fringe players in their team, especially vanilla ones like Bonner. It feels rather like we're an op shop and people are scrambling to offload their unwanted belongings onto us

OOC end of 24:
44 Cameron Zurhaar Restricted Free Agent 2024
5 Curtis Taylor Non-Free Agent 2024
8 Bailey Scott Non-Free Agent 2024
14 Liam Shiels Non-Free Agent 2024
18 Hugh Greenwood Non-Free Agent 2024
24 Tom Powell Non-Free Agent 2024
26 Tarryn Thomas Non-Free Agent 2024
29 Will Phillips Non-Free Agent 2024
33 Brayden George Non-Free Agent 2024
34 Jackson Archer Non-Free Agent 2024
35 Charlie Lazzaro Non-Free Agent 2024
37 Cooper Harvey Non-Free Agent 2024
40 Eddie Ford Non-Free Agent 2024
41 Blake Drury Non-Free Agent 2024
42 Kallan Dawson Non-Free Agent 2024
0 Toby Pink Non-Free Agent 2024
46 Robert Hansen Jr Non-Free Agent 2024
45 Hamish Free

Yet again, so many in 2025 OOC list that should be in the gun but will be safe: Corr, Tucker, CCJ, Xerri.

Of the 2024 list, right now I am only offering contracts to Scott, Ford and TT (assuming no more incidents). Zurhaar is a watch this space. Really like him as a player and a clubman, but depending on FA offers he gets elsewhere and assuming we finish low again, his compensation might be too good to refuse (I'm also assuming that George comes in and shows potential in a role not dissimilar to Zurhaar's).
We could potentially lose 90% of that 2024 list.

Death ride the current premiers? Bold.

Also, no trading of any of our F1's until we arent a bottom 6 team. Cause its entirely possible that ends up we could have had top 2 pick but instead we have a late teens.
People who would trade F1 for a top 10 pick this year haven't grown out of the 5 year old version of themself who would trade two lollies tomorrow for one today.

Just for what it's worth the Hawks had 7 wins, the GC had 9 this year and still in a normal draft that is pick 3 and 4. It's wildly optimistic to back ourselves to climb that far and you want to add 15 (19?) to those picks for 6 and what will end up 15-16? Not to mention trading 17 for the future F1 of the reigning premier.

We would be booed for making either of those deals until my voice is hoarse.
And 12 wins was enough for finals. I tend to agree about F1s tho at this point. Maybe next year if we win enough games.

Don't know why they are bothering with the draft being over two nights. Given R1 will likely go to pick 27 this year, that's almost half the draft done on the first night.
Good chance we don’t even bother turning up to night 2
(If we don’t end up bundling picks up, will just trade 57 which will come in to the early/mid 40s after bids matched for a future pick)

Hope not, don’t need to be reading Nostra posts for the next 6 years about how we should have taken a punt on a Senegalese project player rather then passing on pick 57

that sounds like a man getting his supporters ready for a trade
One of the impressions I got from that interview was we have our own concerns and don't want to trade for Reid and maybe prefer someone else.

O'Brien seemed if anything to be suggesting they'd target someone else important to us. Maybe McKercher...

To me it sounded like a someone who was a bit shocked not everyone came banging on his door, sounds like everyone is judging about the same there’s a clear top three or four and they’re rated about equal.

We'll be forever ruing not taking small Sengalese forward Neikh Watssokho

Not here to offend or offload just giving you my opinion. Also, my understanding North liked him in his draft year but chose Ryan Clarke instead. All the best!

Kayne Turner.

90% is extreme. I'm far more optimistic I'd say we lose 30% - 40%.

Pretty sure that interview is a week old and still within trade period. They would be expecting more trade discussions now we're in the pick only period

Gotta disagree there, they'll get plenty out of Ginbey and Hewett and it really would have been for Wardlaw as we would have drafted Sheez at 1. That was good trading and drafting for them.

I do recall similar panic on here leading into JHF at 1 so I get the WC fans panic on Reid or the prospect of losing him for a token trade.
Apparently their draft board was Cadman, Jy Clark, Ginbey, then Hewett not far behind.

This was after they factored in the go home factor on vic prospects.
