4 goals in the semi probably added 100k to his deal. And the fact that franchises don't have salary caps. He's incredibly overrated and very flaky. Those 4 goals came at the perfect time tbh. McStay leaving has helped. Perfect storm.

Taylor & Young I think will stick around. Neither will be superstars, but they are both decent, hardworking, and have continuously improved since arriving at the club. They probably fit in well with the salary cap as well.

Every rebuilding team with cap space would be silly not to. He’d be one of the youngest free agents of actual quality ever and it would be directly hurting a team on a similar timeline.

Also has good goal sense and a penchant for high marks to complement the heart. If you had to pick the best person to unlock those tools, I imagine a 4-time premiership coach would be up there

What exactly are you basing this on? From what I recall, when we picked him up, he had the potential to be a first round pick, so I wouldn't have thought talent would be a topic of discussion. He was also very clearly picked up as a project player given his frame, which would blow over in a stiff breeze. Why has the timeline for his expected development suddenly shifted forward?

Natural instinct is still there.

It's just that he was played out of position not really having much impact compared to when he was forward. Needs to play a more permanent role as a goal sneak.

100%, I don’t get it.
If you look at all the current talls on our list none of them were doing much at the same age.

Considering our lack of key forward options, the fact that Edwards was as raw as they come when he was drafted and the fact that he signed a 3 year deal when he was taken in the MSD, I’d be pretty confident that the club knew he was going to take some time to get up to standard.

I hope he shows a bit more this year, but I’m almost certain he’ll be on the list next year.

Needs to show something at vfl level to be retained - if he’s struggling at that level what future has he got.
Don’t expect him to brain them but a few glimpses need to be seen

I was responding to calls that Comben could find himself out the door. I found someone who plays a similar role who is more likely than Comben to be shown the door. Which is different to predicting that he WILL be shown the door.
