The Richmond coaching staff told Chol to harden up but he didn’t want too so he went to Gold Coast
Hardwick: "Chol, you're a third year player now, harden up and deal with a bit of light-hearted bullying from our club leaders."

Chol: "Ok, if I do that will you play me consistently in the senior team?"

Hardwick: "Probably not."

Chol: "Cool."

Going to be a nervous year for the Dogs with Smith, Naughton and English. You couldn’t possibly be happy with the comments from English’s manager about his partner’s commitments and assets in Perth. Reckon he’s a good thing to go to West Coast as free agent next year.

You could guarantee MM isn’t sweating over formulae calculating probability of any given draft pick 5 being specific margins better than a player we’d like to trade in. That’s for the BigFooty couch jockeys only.
Actually, that's probably the exact type of thing that each club's analytics teams do to help inform decisions that are made (with much higher mathematical rigour, of course).

Also still a bit confused at the "no way" to this years f1 but the "in a heartbeat" to next years - when there is every chance both picks will be around pick 5.

Based on the direction the club wants to go. I'm pretty sure they came out and said they'll be taking the 1st round pick to the draft this year and be more likely/willing to trade future 1st round picks. Or something along those lines. Or am I imagining this ?

This talk of West Coast being interested in Dev Robertson is good news for Hawthorn as Brisbane likely ask for a higher price than Hawthorn would on Brockman and they really can only safely walk one through to PSD
Dev is a real high charecter guy doubt he walk through to pre season draft

Smith won't happen this season, maybe next year though.

Hopefully by this time next year we are seen as a much more attractive side to good players.
We have 659 pages of McKay/Esava/King/Smith/Ryan/Henry and people claiming those deals will/won't happen without providing any shred of indication whether it's a personal feeling or they've actually read or heard something to that effect. Please just take 2 seconds to preface what you say with "seems to me", or "I think".

Just yesterday Roughandlove said this deal is still possible. Rightly or wrongly people will interpret what you're saying as an update from someone who has inside information.

Walking players to the draft is not good business, and not a measure you'd resort to over players like Brockman and Robertson.

Truth is an update from some carries more weight than from others.
Anything from R&L is considered inside information.

Others may state opinions as fact but they aren't necessarily factual at the time but could be in the future.
Or not.

Its a lottery.

Don't stress mate. I've said it before, he's a hawthorn nuffy, he's instructed his management to troll the cats, he'll be with us this year or next.

Agree he's worth a first, he's a gun goal kicking mid.
103 games
44 goals

Not really a goal kicking mid

Has every one of your posts been a hate post towards Smith?
No he started praising Watson and putting down Duursma. Now dissing Smith. Probably cause he is worried that we will pay pick 3 (4) for him and then not pick up Watson. I feel a Billy coming on.......

Agree. If you stick around long enough you work it out (and respect that things do change).

For anyone wanting to know the closest I've ever come to any information was Gowers phoning me up to vote for him.

Smith isn’t worth pick 3. Good player but recent form would have him more middle of the first round. That won’t be enough though but No way in hell we should be giving up our highest pick in decades for him. If you want him with either 3 or f1 you are overpaying and we should trade back in that scenario.
3 to gws for 6 and 15. 6 for smith, 15, 30 and f1 to suns for pick 4 and f2.
End up with smith, 5 and McCabe rookie dear Jiath. 2024 no first but our 2nd and suns 2nd so options to trade in 2024 or trade up 2024

I’m just surprised We are looking at trying to get a midfielder from another club when some people were like we don’t need to be going after a midfielder after I brought up Serong from Fremantle.
If you can’t see that there’s a very clear difference between Smith and Serong…

Of course he is.
Like all arguments depends on definition of a goal kicking mid. Smith 0.43 goals a game. Worpel 39 from 102 is 0.38 goals a game and Newcombe 21 from 51 is 0.41 goals a game. On pure stats he’s comparable so we already are blessed with multiple goal kicking mids, so no thanks!

It’s still a midfielder not a key Forward when you could clearly see that we need more midfield depth and stars in there like Brisbane went after Neale in there rebuild.
The coach had outlined some time ago that he’d like to add a dynamic mid with some x-factor.

Key position players would be nice, but we were still bottom 4 for inside 50s and top 4 for inside 50s conceded this season. A top end midfielder is going to move the needle for us more than whatever average key forward or defender is available to us.

Still wouldn't wanna see us overpay, but you get it done if Smith wants to come here.

So let me get this straight:

I shouldn’t get my hopes up that we might draft Calsher Dear with a late pick in a shallow draft.

But it is reasonable to think we might land Bailey Smith this year (even though he has emphatically stated he is going nowhere) while holding on to pick 3.

And then next year land Aaron Naughton as well.

🤯🤯🤯
