Watson seems to be our ITKs suggestion. Duursma next, McKercher and Curtin good players but not what we need. Caddy a smokey. We have been trying desperately to find a way to get a second top 10 pick in a way that isn't insane on this board, hoping our club is doing the same. Personally, it's a toss between Duursma or Watson.

Cheers for that. Yes seems a few clubs might try to trade up for Gold Coast’s pick 5 (including us). The jostling for a crack at Reid could get insane.

Watson’s 170cm height makes me a little nervous but then again it’s the same height as Kozzie Pickett who I’d have had no issue with with if he was a pick 3. A gun is a gun.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but Jack Silvagni just seems like a player Sam Mitchell would love playing for him. When we take our anti Carlton glasses off (I have a pair for every day of the week!) he is actually a very effective player that gives 100% every time he takes the field. As a free agent, I wouldn’t be disappointed if he was wearing Brown and Gold next season.
Yeah, Silvagni is my top 5 "just gives a f*ck" players in the competition

At around the 1:01:00 mark, interesting that Mitch names the Kings and Naughton as forwards he would want.
Wouldn't be surprised to see us very into those names next year.

Comparatively over their careers Kosi has averaged more hitouts, goals and contested marks than Silvagni.
Silvagni is also turning 26 this year and Kosi just turned 23.

Also at the same age Silvagni was struggling to get into the Carlton side similarly to Kosi with ours this year.

I don't see how he's such a big upgrade on someone who is 3 years younger with very comparable stats over their careers so far. Kosi has the upside imo
Interesting comparison. Kozi def more potent up forward whilst Silvagni more effective around the ground and seems to be more of natural footballer than Kozi. Not much between them and as pointed out above, Kozi two years younger

Whilst pies was a great win for future trade/FA appeal, What does that win do to the perceived value of our f1? I had always thought the key to us getting suns first was them getting 2023 points themselves through trading players like Flanders, otherwise we can’t make a compelling offer. Even if they do, would suns trade for our f1 or would they go for freo, tigers? neither have f1s who would be keen to get back in and they might end up better picks. Going to be a fascinating silly season.

By the sounds of it, if Watson is available we will lock him in within 0.1 seconds.

I would imagine McKercher and Curtin are ahead of Duursma on our draft board.

I personally think NM will finish last and the top 5 will look like;

1. NM - Reid
2. GCS (Matched) - Walter
3. NM - McKercher
4. WCE - Curtin
5. HFC - Watson

If NM were smart they'd take Reid + Curtin, but you can just about lock those dickheads into taking midfielders.
So you have the Eagles beating Freo? Also, has it been confirmed that NM will get the 2nd pick immediately after their first?

And North sign him up… so we lose a Brocky for nothing to WC and miss a player we’ve targeted. Hmmm. Give it another go?
You think North would sign him up if we are already pretty far down the line that he has asked for a trade to us? Well yeah that's a possibility of course.

You could always go down the jack martin to Carlton route , offer big money the 1st year so North don't go near him.

No way norf get that kind of compo pick for McKay. I'm tipping, the pick they got from Port, they get next pick.

I do, their team on the weekend looked decent and think they'll surprise SOMEONE over the next 3 weeks.

Not confirmed. I'm just expecting the worst and hoping for the best.

Why? Will Reid be pick 2?

Just watch the Eagles beat the Purples next week
Once this happens, the Brocky to PSD threat gets diluted. And some sense would come into Eagles valuing Brocky as 4rth round pick.

But just 1 more point against Bombers would have done the trick too. They had 2-3 minutes to score that too.

Oh sh1t naysayer
They're not Cal Twomey, but we got media types talking about GWS throwing in a 1st Rounder to take on the Haynes contract:eek:

It's not like we'd not have to give back say a F2 to make it happen, but there is a way that this is win/win/win for all parties.

The gold coast first round pick is the most gettable top 5 pick in the history of the draft.

No team will have a better asset to offer the suns than our future first.

Get it done, whatever it takes Duursma & Watson.
You happy to go through next year without a first? It's a massive risk.

I don't see it as a risk at all, you're getting either pick 4 or 5 depending on if the dockers pass the suns.

There is no way we are worse than the eagles or roos next year, so at worst we are giving the Suns pick 3.

Even trading pick 3 next year for pick 4 or 5 this year i'd view as a win because you get the player you want a year earlier. It accelerates our rebuild

One small problem. Pick 5 is worth 1878 points, where are they getting those points from that they need for the 3 academy players?

That is the equivalent of three picks in the 30s, they will be able to get those in by trading a future 2nd for a pick in the mid 30s and 40s this year that will get them almost 800 points.

Then they can get extra points by trading out of picks 26 and 29.

For example trading pick 26 for 35 and 40 would net them an extra 300 points.

The Suns will make plenty of trades like that to cover the shortfall.
