Sam Naismith would be one I'd chase averaging 43 hit outs per game this year in the VFL. Sydney got rid of him because Hickey took his spot. Missed 2 years because the surgeon botched his knee reco. Second highest hit out average in the VFL this year but higher fantasy scores that Sweet from the Dogs who is leading in hit out averages.

The other one is Wylie Buzza, he's playing VFL at the Brions and is scoring heavily this year and can back up ruck. 16.2 in 5 games.
Wylie Buzza is still playing?? My favourite name in the AFL once upon a time, surpassed only by the great Shadowbrain. SOS, trade Gresh and Clark, do whatever it takes, its Buzzzzzzza time at St Kilda.

I was always pro drafting when we were trying to create a future side ready for finals. Now we are in a finals cycle it should flip around to trading in and chasing free agents. That's why I said it was arse about at the time.

Most of our list will be gone when Tassie comes in. If we've been playing finals and win a flag before then we should be able to attract established talent in and do a Hawks. We should be bringing in missing pieces while trying to bring in at least some youth every year but the main objective should be to win a flag while we still have Sincs, Crouch, Steele, Marshall, Wood, Webster, Membrey etc.

Max King will be 27 by the time Tassie come in. Sincs 33, Ross and Hill 34. If we are still rebuilding then it's probably too late. We are going to time it badly if we are rebuilding again when they come in so probably do need to keep bringing at least a decent level of young players coming through. Should probably be chasing players under 25 even if they are established. Otherwise we will be trying to load up at the worst possible time.
While Brad Crouch has been very valuable to our team,I just think age wise Caldwell would have been a better long term option in that trade and FA period

Based on what Caldwell cost the dopers (2 x 2nds with some 2020 later picks back), he would have cost us;

Matt Allison & Mitchito Owens.

GWS wanted a first rounder but Dodoro wouldn’t give it to them. We would’ve just given them our first which in the end would’ve only cost us Allison. So basically nothing.

Mitch was an academy player, you just make up his value in scraps or eat into next years picks if needed.

Had traded our first pick in 2019, this place would have melted if we had of traded it in 2020, considering we wanted two firsts for Bing and would have been disallowed by the AFL.
In the end we picked up Crouch, then NWM and Pou, but people are complaining we didn't get Caldwell?
Have nobody seen Crouch this year?

And people laughed when I mentioned Brad Hill had the Saints at the top of his list a few years back. 😉
Dude, you don't get how it works here.
First you have to actually make a specific prediction. THEN hijack every discussion about said player for the next 6 months. THEN you can get sooky about people not believing you. Don't put the horse before the cart.

Crouch has been great but will be gone in few years, Caldwell would have still been going in 5 years. I think the argument is around rebuilding when Tassie come in.

I would think we should have been building through the draft early in the build and buying up mature talent at the point that they hit peak development. That's the usual way to build. We are going to have to keep nailing patches over the list for years to come because there are some gaps. If we get rid of guys like Clark and Gresham we lose from our mid career types as well and end up making more holes.
