If we bring in Dow then there's some immediate much needed help in the midfield...

With all the smoke about Howard, JB & co, it does seem like we're trying to bring in multiple 2nd & 3rd round picks.

This means we either rate this draft's depth more than anyone else, or we're racking up picks to pass on to a certain club who needs those picks to cover multiple academy bids.

If that doesn't pan out then we let Toce go to work in November & go hard in the Finn Callaghan stakes in 12 months time.
We are bringing in Dow. It's done.

Unfortunately I'm not sure Roma plays well as second ruck/ ruck - forward.
Playing with Paddy (much as we all loved him) didn't do Roma's development any favours.

But who am I to argue with RTB about bringing in a long in the tooth ruckman?
Marshall Heath combo!

Marshall to Ruck majority of the time. But tracks the ball across the middle, either as a link up, or as the defensive forward intercept mark.

Heath to play forward alongside King and Sharman. Heath takes all the stoppage ruck work inside 50 while Marshall sets up behind the ball.

When Marshal has a spell on the pine - Heath takes the center ruck role.

Goldy is a wild take.

Ro should've been the AA ruck this year.

If we bring in Goldy our forward set up is going to be King, Owens, Hammer, Sharman and Ro/Goldy. Good luck applying any forward pressure.
Goldy just becomes the back up ruck in case Marshal goes down.

Plus teaches Heath and Keeler ruck craft. Maybe maybe teaches Marshall tapcraft too.

For sure they did but they had too - for instance 2019 Sandilands played 5 games and with limited time on ground - they picked up Lobb to help out but the plan was for him to mainly play as a forward and help as a chop out , Lucky there 2yr draft pick in Darcy was up to the task to carry the load // otherwise they had nothing.

I fully expect us to pick up a ruckman to replace Campbell , but someone who may not even get through a preseason.

I was hoping Heath would get a chance next year because he looks capable and can kick goals as he has shown in the 2s
Heath will have a big preseason this year and will be part of the team next year.

Well looks like we have scored one in Keeler , 19yr old - 2m tall and has the skills of a mid.
He could end up being one of our best players looking at his highlights in the few games he played at Sandringham.
Also Max Heath is as raw as they come and at 2.04m and not the usually matchstick I really think he is going to be a player as well.
We have had a lot of misses with talls , hopefully our luck has turned.
Can't wait to see Keeler develop. Speed, size, agility and looks very naturally gifted. Could be a special player.

On the other hand.

He's had years to become the big dog.
He's had years to become a leader.
He's had years to show his drive to improve consistency.
He's had years to work on his weaknesses.

This was his big contract year. The big opportunity to show his worth and increase his currency.

And he didn't.
He did stand up when a lot went missing last week.

Prefer to improve player list between 1 and 10
No flag since 66. Our fans are constantly frustrated with our lack of stars and tortured by watching sub par players. Then it gets to the off-season and most of the same posters then suggest veteran mediocre players and washed blokes who will stunt the development of our young guys and forever keep us in mediocrity and wonder why we don't improve. Rinse repeat.

The only clubs who could possibly consider Goldy would be fringe premiership with a shit ruckman currently.

Looking at the top 8.
Collingwood - seem happy with Cameron, Cox and makeshift
Brisbane - OMac and Fort
Port - Lycett (no interest in Grundy)
Melbourne - Gawn and about to trade our Grundy
Carlton - dekoenig, Pittonet
Us - Roma and kids
Gws - Briggs, Flynn
Sydney - Ladhams and McLean

I suppose if the pies lose the granny and get belted in the ruck or same with Port MAYBE they’d consider it but I can’t see why anyone else would, unless Goldy is happy with a twos spot and some part time coaching for the contract.

Apparently we are interested in PLOWMAN

You know what's quite hard to find? What Freo actually paid for Henry. There's lots of blah-blah about SOS bidding on Henry at pick 9 but as we all know, academy players are picked up with junk picks.

They apparently used 49, 52, 55 and 58. So if Freo are ridiculous at the trade table, let's offer something comparable to what they actually used to draft him.

Reason #24601 why the points system is total :poo:
This and so much this

Really it doesn't matter where he was drafted , it's what he is worth now and around the 20 mark would be about right. - being 22 and his form this year.
Bell would be not to happy , having just basically developed the kid into a player and he wants out.
He's worth no where near 20. Hasn't even cemented his spot over the year.

Bell shouldn't have been so ****in slow to make him an offer. Looked gone. Then when he performed tried to drag him back through the door.

That wouldn't have given them enough points.
They went into a 265 point deficit that slid them back from 7 to 10 in 2020. Bit unclear whether pick 74 was also used - as I said the picks used were not well reported.

Reason #24602 that the points system is :poo:, in points terms a slide from 7 to 10 is worth about pick 50.
