Well that's not going to get it done clearly.

You need to co sidereal where these pucks actually land rather than just saying first rounders.

12 and 13 will end up being 16 and 17 in this draft. They really aren't that valuable.
Still will pick the 12th and 13th best players available to everyone either way you look at it.

Mitch is a bull that will tear games apart if we back him in and play him there. By the end of next season he'll be an out and out star.

I tell you what those clips for the B & F made you remember how good his early season form was. His goal sense from multiple ranges and angles made you want 2 of him. He was in his second year this year and the sky's the limit for him.

I want him managed well to get to 200+ games and not thrown into the deep end for a sugar hit so not too worried if we go a bit slow with him.

Third year his fitness base should start to pick up and he'll be able to go longer and probably have a bit more on ball time any way.

Phillipou is a year behind and wouldn't be surprised if he drops off a bit in his second year. The Academy kids had the advantage of the pro set up earlier so seem to hit the ground running a bit better.

Draft well, pick off guys like Dow and Henry that make an immediate impact now while kids develop and have some upside left. Don't try the exotic stuff. It rarely pays off. Keep an eye on trades and FA when quality comes up. Back filling with s**t doesn't work any better than Billings playing at Sandy does.

Gresham and Howard moves could maybe be justified if you got insane overs but then it has to be off-set with what you'll get back and how much replacing them on the open market will cost. Like McEvoy looked genius until we paid a fortune to replace him with Longer and Hickey and ended up with zero.

For all the top ups with McKernan types there was a spot wasted that was probably better left for Clavarino types that if thrown in may have surprised. Sometimes having a life jacket covered in sticky-tape isn't as life saving as it appears. We badly misread where we were in the build.

I like a very disciplined singular focus with a really strong plan for the future and staying competitive now as model. Just not sure some of the moves we are attempting are in line with that. Some of the names are like a troll. We are talking of ******* off Howard for Hambling. Zones are great but they still need a basic level of competence.

Between our 60-odd thousand posts there's a very cohesive, clinical strategy. 😀
The point I’m making fellas is that things like draft well and picking off Dow and Henry types is the plan.

However the real improvement to catapult us forward is via the draft and pick 12 will most likely not catapult us to the heights we all want.

Multiple picks are most likely or high picks.

The only way to do that is to sell off players you can replace.

Keeping everyone doesn’t do anything for us.

And you don’t want to drop away. So that rules out the best picks.

This is apparently a huge reason for Shiel believe it or not.

Realistically he's probably going to be struggling to hold a best 22 spot with guys like Dow and Henry coming in on top of new kids. He's going to have to make a huge surge and demand that spot. He's at an age that he's probably got next year and then he's going to be on the scrap heap hoping for a lifeline. I hope he's stung into action and hitting the fitness routine early.

He's got heaps of talent but needs to make it up to 80% game time and find a spot that he can lock into.
I see him as pretty similar to Stocker now. Just not sure we need two of them and if they retain Coff then more so..

Its no wonder they are delusional.

I sent a PM to their Mod querying why he had originally banned me and suggested that if they really wanted to run an echo chamber, they should just completely ban all OPPO supporters on the thread.

End result - I got completely banned from Big Footy all over again.
They are half wits at best. I still can’t access their entire board because I told the truth drug their extensive, systematic and clandestine drugs program. Can’t work out why!

This is a bit confusing as a plan though because as Joffa likes to tell us, we aren't even interested in Shiel. He's basically retired and we'd be paying him to receive a pick upgrade.

I was all for bringing in Crouch or Matho for a year or two as a bridge, but I'd rather have taken a fit player over a guy that is already broken down and at an age that won't see him likely to return to his best. I guess if he plays 12 games he's not stealing games off a kid.

Just stop it with Hambling, Jonas, Lycett types though. It's giving my blood pressure a work out.

Have never said that. I said he is a free hit, that he is steak knives, and isn't a required player but will use him if it gets us pick 13.
Don't make stuff up.

Not sure what we are doing with Stocker, we haven't given him a contract yet. Surely he gets another year at least.

Alright, makes some sense. takes the pressure off Chito lets him continue to develop over 2024.

They think they will get games out of Shiel. They like Shiel.

They don’t do this deal unless it’s favourable to them is what I was told.

But …. BUT

If he was fit. They think he becomes our best clearance mid and it means a slower transition for Mitch and Pou into the midfield.

60-40 split. Which means they don’t get belted in there. They get looked after. Steele crouch get proper support.

Dow is seen in a similar light. If he delivers in pre season. He is in the round 1 side

Look at success, how did Brisbane, Collingwood, Port and Melb build their teams that repeatedly finish top 4? That's the blueprint, do whatever they did. Luck is involved of course. Father son picks, high picks that performed, money for support structures etc.

All those clubs did it differently

Brisbane and Melbourne spent years down the bottom collecting high draft picks while Port have not bottomed out for years.

Pies went down quickly and shot up even quicker, the father sons very much helped

there was some report 1-2 weeks ago about melbourne shaking the foundations of the whole trade period with some mega trade,i just thought it was one of those things, some here were throwing up hypotheticals mostly centered around steele if it possibly involved us,most only thought about who they might be after

dont think anybody gave thought to who might be going out,but could this oliver thing be what was alluded to?
