essendon fans still going on about pick 13 in the gresham thread, what happened with the 600-650k offer they are making him?is that fake news?another comment has ralph is the only one saying pick 13 cant go back to them,so they are ignoring that

thought all this crap was over with, surely if pick 13 not in it for us we dont even want to hear the name shiel, never mind handing them a frp in the deal

when i hear twomey discussing it he is very guarded, clearly got his essendon hat on and wont dismiss it totally, maybe afraid of a nuffy backlash coming his way

anyway wish it would move along and get quashed totally, sos makes me nervous,i dont apoligise for that-quash it please

According to the bummer over lords. They have 2m in cap space. McKay and Gresh get you to roughly 1.5m ish

I think Shiels contract was backended so a lot is due next season.

So it would make sense.

If we’re helping those cheating dogs get Oliver then we should make them bleed for it.

We’ll have their 2024 1st to take on Shiel & his $900 large or they can watch the human Pigman walk to Carlscum

Everyone seems to be overlooking the fact that Jade needs to agree to whatever the deal is , and to me that's likely to be the thing holding back an announcement.

yep fair enough, seems it will be essendon, unlike those clowns(with facts)we probably accept that as fact now

so scenario
A band 3 we match(let it play out,with a trade)
B band 2 lets just let him go & be done with it,get in a 3 years younger henry and move on
C band 1 we get 13(if we take shiel we do on our terms,3rd or 4th rounder back, whatever)
D band 1 we do this crap they keep pushing & fxxx sos and the saints im done(just want to know)

order of preference

E band 1 no shiel
C
B
A
D

If your assumption about the equivalency of their behaviour, and what was said about it, is correct:

It’s still not the same as De Goey.

He was a FA exploring his options, Collingwood still wanted him.

This guy has years left on a recently signed multi million contract, but Melbourne wants to sell him.

That’s all we need to know.
1- I was talking about his behaviour and the fact that plenty of posters said "do not want"
2- Melbourne dont want to sell him, this is such a false statement.

This started because two journos speculated about who might want a good midfielder and fell on Clarry because the Dees played well without him. That then became journos inquiring into whether he was available and the Dees would have said "sure, for the right price" which is what anyone would and should say about any player really.

Saying hes available for the right offer isnt shopping him so lets just dispel that bullshit.

singapore airlines flight years ago, american woman seated right side of plane first row after toilets,i was one row back middle, her husband was two rows behind me middle(smart man,she pointed out her husband during outburst)

starts wingeing big time that she specifically did not want a seat near toilets, shes a travel agent etc, after 20 minutes of non stop complaining they told her they had found a pregnant woman who would appreciate the seat near toilets and that she could swap with her,so the swap was made, heavily pregnant woman arrives & to everyones relief this woman disappears down the back somewhere

not 5 minutes later this woman came back wanting her original seat, poor old pregnant woman returns to her seat without complaint, british woman sat beside her without saying a word during the initial outburst says"you know that woman is pregnant dont you?"american woman goes off her nut telling her to mind her own business etc, then sees me and everyone else looking at her and gives the flight crew the"everyone is looking at me,poor me"line

wow what a piece of work

Had an American couple complaining in a Roman cafe about how bad their coffee was. The shop has been going for 100 years or something and an institution and the Americans were telling them that their coffee was shit. The barista just tipped the coffees out and ignored them which they couldn't believe the lack of customer service. They were trying to make a scene but he just pretended that they didn't exist until they walked out.

So we offer the Doogs (or one of 12 or 13 and keep the Doogs first) first plus two futures for Oliver?

Means we keep at least one first this year and sort of move our FA grab from next year to this.

Could work in that sense. In that scenario
Oliver
Dow
Henry
FRDP (or two) this year

Ok would be happy with that.
2 future first rounders? In a strong mid draft next season?
That would take some balls.

Have been told all year from someone who has a direct contact at the very top of Essendon that they had 2 million in TTP spare for these contingencies.
The Sheil salary dump would make even more immediate sense for them if they want McKay. Gres, Goldstein and Oliver
May work in our favour for pick 13 afterall.

Where’s the Clayton Oliver - Big Bag of Coke rumour at??? Confirmed yet or still up in the air?

For Oliver to leave Melbourne the following two factors must exist:

1. Oliver agrees to be traded as a contracted player.
2. Melbourne agrees to trade a contracted player.

Neither Oliver or the Melbourne Football Club controls the process. They BOTH need to agree.

If Melbourne wants Oliver gone they can only trade him to a club that he agrees to be traded to.

If Oliver wants to go, then Melbourne needs to be satisfied with the picks they will be compensated with. Presumably to on-trade as part of a deal to get pick 1.

I’d be surprised if this trade happened. Huge long term contract for Melbourne’s best but ultimately flawed player. Salary cap and cultural implications for any interested club.

Ultimately though Oliver has to be enticed and must nominate a club. That will be half of the battle for any interested club. And that does not maximise Oliver’s trade value for Melbourne.

The whole thing will be very complicated. The more I think about it the less I like it. Let’s just draft and develop with our trajectory trending upward.

Americans first and Brits second for getting absolutely nothing out of travel.

Can’t see why you wouldn’t give Mcgloughlin a go as the vfl’s leading goal kicker. He is a size we have a lot of so he would need to be a competitive, physical type to have a consistent impact at AFL level. Could be a defender convert as well. Also depends on Membrey’s health as well.

Absolutely.

Suns cutting him because they have 2 more talls coming through the academy this year.

I'd give him a deal for sure. There's a spot up for grabs next to King and Sharman.

Do we reckon Tim got a strike this year btw?

Went in for surprise knee surgery, think it was pitched as a 'clean up' about a month before the season, but at the time the club still said he should be right for round 1, then he hardly played all year.

On top of that, Ross had comments in a presser at one point that were pretty pointed around Tim basically being cleared by the medical team of any knee issue and it was just around when he decided he was okay to come back and help.
Maybe it was more about mental health issues already back then?
Hope he’s doing better and that he’s back in the team next season.

And because of the reasons you stated I'm thinking someone could get him for a fair price.

As long as melb gets pick 1 they are happy.

It does if we think philippou can have an Owens type year next year and Owens and nas can have a daicos type year next year.

I would not count on Phillipou having an Owens like second season. Though yes we all hope that he will.

However,

1/ Phillipou is actually 15 months younger than Owens. Not just 12.
2/ Owens is a training/gym freak who join us very strong. Players like Steele all comment on just how strong he was for a young draftee joining us. Whereas Phillipou looks quite boyish.
3/ Even Owens faded somewhat late in the season.

Yes, that is possible. Absolutely.

If we had back-to-back picks 12 & 13 (a big if) then it may be enough, along with Melbourne’s pick 5, to tempt West Coast to trade pick 1.

But I still doubt it. The Eagles would need Melbourne’s pick 5 plus another top 6-7 pick. Maybe Gold Coast’s Pick 4. That is the pick that may unlock any deal and picks 12 & 13 could tempt the Suns to trade that pick.

Lots of cards would need to fall our way though. Starting with the Gresham compensation pick. It’s a very long shot,

But I still think I’d rather us go to the draft.
