The prospect of Hamish pulling a Hamish and going outside what is a generally agreed established order of talent with our pick 4 sends shivers down my spine.
After a period of obsessed midget midfield drafting, I hope he’s now not blinded by obsessed big bodied mids. Just pick the best either way

I think the big bodied mid thing is now getting overdone, lions best 2 in GF were Ashcroft and Neale. Hardly monsters.

We have Dawson already and hopefully Curtin so think we focus more on the Dangerfield like burst mid…which Draper appears to be. Desperately want at the club
It's 1000% overdone.
Flavour of the year (or two) but relatively misguided. It's presumably all on the back of 1. Cripps and Bont being the two best mids in the game, and 2. our midfield being shite while also having not much size (coincidence, not correlated).
Dawson and Curtin provide plenty of size now anyway.
Neale, Ashcroft, Walsh, Daicos, Merrett, Serong, Brayshaw, Butters, Rozee...Im sure I could go on.
There are plenty of absolute jets who don't fit the bill as 'big body mid'. Just get the best mid at 4. If he's 181cm and a jet, we will all be happy.

There is no consensus in the top 12 of this draft

Very different to last year

For example I’ve got Travaglia in top 3 and haven’t seen anyone else push him that high

Others have Murphy Reid that high and I’ve got him mid teens to 20

It’s very even with lots of very good players , not quite the stand out stars like Reid and Mckercher of last year
I don't know what more Levi Ashcroft could have done to not be rated a pretty special prospect?

I saw a stat that had him win nearly every award in every competition he has played. The kid is probably going to be better than his brother. Which sucks because both brothers will probably elevate Brisbane midfield to the best the competition has ever seen. Ports is good, Brisbanes going to be even better.

No we won't, if it's between Smith and Langford I have it on good authority that Hamish loves Langford as a player

There's a lot to like about a long kicking left footer who is strong at the contest and a very good mark. But in Dawson, Curtin and Hinge, we already have this type of player covered.

That's the thing, there isn't a generally agreed list. The fact we are seemingly in with a chance of drafting Jagga says that.

Langfords form has been awesome, but I'm just not sure it translates to AFL

Easy now ... there have been some pretty awesome midfields in the past!!
Black , Voss, Akermanis, Shaun Hart , Nigel Lappin and Headland for change

* Brisbanes 2002 GF side had 4 current coaches

And more to the point, our midfield group. Crouch, Laird, Dawson and even Soligo don’t have actually leg speed to drive forward from the contest. Peatling is a great addition in this area, and Rankine if they let him play there is quick, but adding Langford just doesn’t seem the right fit.

North being open to move back is intriguing as it almost certainly is because they want Tauru and think he’ll be there at 5 or 6. The good thing for us is that if they don’t succeed we will probably have access to the 3rd midfielder. Maybe we should be sniffing around Tauru just to scare them.

Langford is in the conversation for pick one and has been ranked top 5 for a long time by most draft experts/recruiters, it's hardly a stretch taking him at pick 4

Edwards is the guy we need to get into our side somehow, has that burst from stoppage.

Schoenberg does too.... but that's about all.

Langford will survive just fine at afl , has plenty of afl traits in my opinion

His ability to get inside to outside , contested marking , versatility , footy IQ and ball winning , size

Don't think Cal is talking about FOS there... ;)

Race of 4. Anyone else very relieved we get one of these four? Even a pick at say 6 may mean no FOS, Lalor, Smith, Draper or Langford. Very happy to be tucked securely in here at 4
Great year to have had 2 early 1sts
what about Tiges? Could end up with 5 x top 25 ish picks. Incredible and smart way to fastrack rebuild and get in before Tassie

They have certainly picked the right draft to do it in too :-(

I couldn't agree more. I am a little surprised he tested slow because he doesn't play slow. Reaction speed, decision making, and hand to foot all seemed quick to the eye test.

I am certainly not off him based on a 20m time trial.

Exactly

Lachie Murphy has a quick 20m time
