it 'might' be that we are hedging on Welsh expecting him to go late but if not and its a bid in the 3rd round which is likely to be the earliest round you'd think a bid may come, we can eat into a F3, whilst at the same time using our F2 and F3 for Peatling with maybe something else coming back or that proposal where we swap F2's as part of it.

We can't use 43 as we don't have the list spot so flipping it into the future regardless its a supposed weaker draft is irrelevant as we would have to use it on Welsh when later picks may do the same job. So get value for it now, hedge for an earlier bid and at best case if that deal for a swap of F2's and a F3 comes to pass we still have a full suite of picks to use?
With how deep the depth runs in this draft can't see a bid coming before the late 3rd if that early, maybe not at all now.

There's so many more taller forwards available like Alix Tauru (Swingman), Harry Armstrong, Jobe Shanahan, Jonty Faull, Jack and Matt Whitlock(swingman), Gabriel Stumpf, Thomas Sims, Charlie Nicholls, Floyd Burmeister, Charlie West all who had National Combine invites.

How far out was this projected to be a strong draft?

Just wondering with future pick trading opening up (is that confirmed?) whether clubs will try to position themselves multiple years out from drafts they rate
This is purely from memory (no actual evidence), but it seems like there are calls ahead of time about drafts and it's hit and miss whether it turns out true come draft day.

Then there's the question of whether that draft was high quality in reality, which can also end up incorrect.

I've wonder about moving around with 4, but at the end of the day I think that pick has been in a lockbox since the end of round 24. And it would take 1 hell of a locksmith to bust it out.
If Smith was there at 4 and Richmond offered 6 and their F1st I have no doubt we'd take that offer if we knew who Melbourne would pick at 5

I don't see any reality in the Tigers giving up their F1 for a pick swap personally. If the Crows were looking to be cute they could offer a switch this and next year. I.e. 4 for 6 and switching F1's attached to ladder order.

Not without risk, but also high potential reward. But doubt the Tigers would even entertain that, given they are pretty much wooden spoon short priced favourites.

When they enter the system at 16’s it’s all about their tank. Not too much focus on the weights. An 8m 2K would have the alarm bells ringing even at that age group. Tells a story about their mindset.

They move to weights U18 BUT the fitness base should be there by that stage.

Young Tyler has spent 3 years being the big kid and bullying the oppo AND being told he’s going to the Crows.
That’s a horrible 2K however you slice it. Needs a clip around the ears

Unfortunately that’s what I’d been told earlier this year that the young fella rated himself very highly and hasn’t had to work very hard whilst a junior - this may improve or he will be yet another “what could have been” footballer killing it in a distant country league.

Only been able to watch highlights of most of the draftees, but out of the 'big 5', he's the one i'd like the least.

Has the lowest ceiling of the group
TBF, FOS has had an interrupted season .....I don't think you can go wrong with any of the top 5-6 in this Draft

ps careful saying that on here

I think the question needs to be asked: should we take Tyler Welsh with our last available list spot if a potentially better option (say Charlie West) is available with our last live pick? I know we've sunk a lot of time into him over the past couple of years and possibly even made a commitment to him but he wouldn't be the first or last early bloomer to peak at 15/16 and simply not be up to it at AFL level (for whatever reason). If we suspect that might be the case I hope we're honestly examining our options and not just going through the motions of what we're expected to (or had been planning to) do.
