That's hugely an over reaction .....if his disposal was that bad, he'd not be in any consideration for the Top 10

I still rate Dangerfield one of the worst disposers of the ball I've seen ....great one day, abysmal the next game ....but the lad had strengths which countered that weakness

Oliver is a terrible disposer of the football by foot as well
And none worse than Taranto by position.

If Dawson and Curtin are on wings they’re in the midfield mix. If they’re on flanks, we’re using 1st round picks on flankers.

If we draft Langford , that would be 4 of our past 5 1st rounders on tall mids. It’s like we see Cripps winning Brownlows and think, let's get a whole midfield of Cripps’. Maybe those recent years we spent using most of our picks on very similar players (pretty much all of who aren’t best 22 now) taught us nothing. Maybe some balance would be nice? We need speed and/or precise disposal in our midfield. As good as Langford is, he provides neither of those things.
Not sold on this lack of balance stuff if we draft Langford

Rankine Peatling Soligo are 3 of the guys I’m hoping will be mainstays of our midfield

Then we have our tall mids that can also play on flanks

I think the mix is actually pretty good

I’ll reiterate , Langford I have about 6th on my talent order but he’s not far behind those ahead of him and can do some things they can’t

Caveat I’m only going by highlights, but Smith looked quick enough, agile, good disposal and made good decisions.

Drapers showed a lot of handballing to teammates in poor positions and average kicks.

If this isn’t indicative why did they **** his highlights up?
FWIW from what I’ve seen, I wouldn’t say the poor handballs is a common issue with Draper

Re: the comparison - I think a lot of it depends on personal taste. Smith more crafty, Draper with the more dynamic athletic ability (and willingness to use it)

In a vacuum, I have Smith a bit ahead, but straight line speed might be the thing our team lacks the most

And we already have that area well covered in our current mix...we need something different IMO,

Pace, explosiveness, acceleration from the contest and clean below their knees, that pace and acceleration is twofold not only offensively but defensively.
Yep agree but if Lalor Draper are gone I can see Hamish taking Langford over smith

I’ve got smith in front of Draper and Langford but it’s all very tight

They all have their strengths and weaknesses and it’s not the year of cream of crop high end talent of some other years IMO

I’ll still stand by saying Keays in the midfield was a better kick than Taranto is
Percentage wise Taranto (49.7% KE is likely the mid with the cllosest kicking skills to ROB.

I tend to disagree re Lalor, FOS and Draper who have had injury impacted seasons, especially Lalor and Draper.

The point is, if most of our team is over 6’3, we’ll lack speed and agility and get smashed in the modern game that is dominated by speed and agility.
We’ve just traded for speed

Peatling Cumming ANB all get over the ground well

Definitely targeted speed at the trade table , I’m all for more speed but it’s not the only consideration

Edwards on backburner too has the jets

Not in same league as the JHF Daicos draft or even the Harley Reid and Mckercher

Too many doubts compared to those prospects for it to be as good at top end this draft
Time will be the best judge of that

Depends how it plays out but Allan/Hotton would be my first preference with 13. If they are both gone then i'd want us to go tall with either Shanahan or Trainor.

With 29, I'm big on James Barrat or Thomas Sims. If we go tall first then i'd want someone like Ough, Dattoli or Urquhart
I reckon others that suit you are Tauru , Lindsay , Travaglia , Berry , Hynes

But yeah Trainor and Shanahan are big shot

Angus Clarke might suit later, Charlie Nicholls too ?

Clarke is a gun, I slept on him all year but re-watched some tape and he’s so classy

Would be a good get for Port even at 29
