Long term view - Taj Garrett 15 is already attracting interest from clubs who see his aerobic capacity

But he is a Gold Coast fan and loved touring GCs venue while up there with the U/16s
Very good but wasn’t our best at U15 Champs on G Coast. Mitch Brook from Sturt and Josh Jarrad from Bays made all Australian. Most unfortunately U16 State under ager Harvey Chapman who was having stellar season broke his leg in 2 places in 1st game up there.

I'm still a bit pissy you guys didn't trade your first rounder for our future first last year. Reckon Curtin would be better for us than who we'll pick with pick 3, and you blokes would have a very strong hand having picks 3 and 4 this draft.
Don't be pissy.

You'll get him for cents in the dollar when he walks out on our loser club in a year or two.

A lot have been saying the top end this year whilst good and very even seems to lack the absolute talent of last year. They might need to have a re-think looking at some of the numbers the lads are putting up in the VFL against the men, same with some of the WA and SA lads as well.

Levi Ashcroft - Brisbane F/S - 35 disposals - 22 K, 13Hb - 8M -5T - 11 Cl - 1.0
Jagga Smith - 22 Disposals - 9K - 13Hb - 2T - 7Cl
Finn O'Sullivan 11Disposals - 5K - 6Hb 1T
Leu Lombard - Suns Academy - 13 Disposals - 7K - 6Hb - 2M - 2T - 1 Cl
Tobie Travaglia - 15 Disposals - 5K - 10Hb - 5T - 1Cl
Joel Cochran - 16 Disposals - 8K - 8Hb - 5M - 2T

We took Toby Murray on name why cant we rookie Jack the same
Name might have had a bit to do with it but Toby was better credentialed given he had played in a better comp and actually made the Allies National squad 2 years running and played Nationals in 2022 as well as playing against the men in the VFL representing Collingwood in round 11 playing limited minutes forward for 9 disposals 7K 2Hb 2Mk's and 1.1. He'd also signed for Essendon's VFL list (top up) prior to us coming calling.

I'd suggest he was seen as Himmelberg's depth replacement more than his name.

been wondering what was happening there.

Absolutely take him as a rookie
That should only happen if we rate him above all draftees available at that point, and getting carried away with his only ever 24 disposal game at SANFL U18's level against a very very depleted South Adelaide U18's team minus Sid Draper (rested) Phoenix Hargrave (League), Dakota Sterzl (Reserves),Jacob Sheean (reserves), Benny Barrett (reserves), all bar dashing wingman Dakota Sterzl the others have been invited to the National/State draft Combines,.

Hazard a guess on why Draper was rested Bicks?

Is it because the AFL have said he can go to the Crows for free, so doesn't need to play any more games this year?

No idea, but he's had a pretty busy schedule since resuming from his shin splints issue so makes perfectly good sense on that basis with South out of Finals contention.

Posted on another thread about having a crack at that pick 6 from GC

Something like

Out
Future 1st
28
Berry 2nd rounder from trade

In
6
Lukosious

We’ll likely go with Draper at 4 if there , but I’m really warming to Bo Allan aswel as Lalor

Allan linked up with his fellow WA lad in Curtin , 2 big bodied left foot mids

It still costs you a rookie spot.
Fine if he's rated the best at the pick but do we really need another Ben Jarman or Jackson Edwards episode with the families, and let's face it both were far better credentialed than Jack having both been State U18's National reps and far better performed at local SANFL U18 level.
If Jack goes undrafted he has the same opportunities as others that miss out to work his ass off in the local league to get the eye of recruiters.

This👍 -I get so sick of mostly click bait media going on and on about father-son and brother-of, ad nauseam. Do you think they’ll ever get rid of the f/s rule with the amount of clicks it gets? I feel sorry for those boys just doing their best under a dads shadow. So many guns come from parents that didn’t play, or played in country leagues because that’s where they worked. It should be about the individual. The CTL and U18 SANFL comp. is now diluted since 3-4 (up to 8) are playing league and half a dozen also in reserves, plus college is back playing. Anyone shining now isn’t really a gauge on elite ability unless they have done it all year. PS I love the nostalgia of father-son, keep it.
