Disagree.

If you are convinced one player is going to be much better than the other 3 guys - you get your guy.

If you genuinely believe one of the 4 is gonna be a "dusty" level player - you do it.

This is what the recruiters get paid to do.
Who do you think that player is that's that far above the others that we'd compromise our F1 for them?

Trading our f1 and p4 for p2 is totally worth it. Next years draft is compromised beyond belief. Most of the first round is either academy players or father sons. We cannot risk missing out on Draper. Drapers explosive speed and attacking game is what we have been crying out for years for.
If he's the one you genuinely want and you think he'll go earlier than what you've got, you should make a move..... but giving away next years 1st rounder is a HUGE price to pay

If the club does anything with our F1 - including shifting it down - to move up in a group where there's no consensus over who's the better player, then we should riot and spill the board. If we're worried about players leaving, then be a better club, one that wins finals and flags. Players generally don't leave those often. If we want Draper that badly, be a better club that he'll want to be traded to.

I also think it's more likely than not Draper is there at 4. Did hear something interesting (not from a viable source) that Carlton may have actually traded up for Taura - thinking North will trade out of 2. Seems unlikely but given they have exactly 1 AFL standard KPDon their list, that might not be completely absurd.
I think there's zero chance of us moving ....the gap in players doesn't make the cost worthwhile .....if it was Harley Reid / JHF then yes ....but that top 6 players are all very close in ability, and all Mids we desire

Gather you are not following the draft very closely this year!!

hmmm, I wonder if they have thought of "be a better club", that could fix everything

What if there are concerns regarding one of the top 4 being a go home issue and that player falls to us at 4 (Draper already picked). Let's say it's FOS that falls to us but we know he's a massive flight risk.

Do you then wish we traded up for one of Lalor/Draper/Smith?
There will be a gun player at pick 4.

It really is that simple.

If they end up going home like Dangerfield, you deal with it then.

I think we do too. Feel the obsession with us getting Draper is largely being driven by opposition supporters/clubs assuming we think we absolutely have to have him - which I don't believe is the case. Even looking at our draft history, TT is the only local I can think of we've taken in the top 10. And that was the obvious choice at 2 after we'd bid on a Vic kid.

*and yes it's a sombre mood Stateside today. We truly are moving towards the movie Idiocracy becoming a prescient documentary.
Still can't believe millions of Americans couldn't see through him

Let us know who that player is

Then in 13 months time we will let you know who the player we would have liked with our 2025 1st rounder that we can’t get

I'm sure every recruiters would love the list manager to trade all chips into the current draft every year.

Which is why they are recruiters and not list managers.

If I'm Richmond, Norf or Carlton, I'm not taking potential future flight risk Draper when there's equally good Vic players, who are no flight risk, on the board.

Never has there been such an even number of players at the top of the board, pick 1 or pick 6 are arguably as good as each other.

Talk of moving up to pick 2 is purely Vic media trying to create interest to talk/write about.

If we want Draper he'll be waiting at (live) pick 4 in now under two weeks

Twomey on sen breakfast today said us and north have chatted about a pick swap involving 2 and 4.

First mentioned it on gettable but was more a suggestion, today he outright confirmed it.

Apparently Richmond not interested in an early swap.

Assuming our f1 is off the table, not sure how much we can offer other than our future 3rds (or somehow combine them into a second or future second).

The idea would be that north are taking tauru anyway so they might as well get a bit more draft capital out of it and 4 is a safe spot for tauru.

I’d have thought Melbourne or even st kilda would offer a better deal but I suppose that comes with the risk of tauru being off the tabl, particularly the saints pick.

Not sure if we are worried about Carlton taking our ideal player, possibly it’s just a safeguard in case north trade with someone else would could pose a risk?

Regardless it seems a bit unlikely to me but Twomey wouldn’t bring it up out of nowhere.

Can’t involve our future first, that has to be off limits.

Maybe we package up our 2023 firsts to get a second and give that up.

Was suggested yesterday by Cromulant I think.

Twomey said tomorrow is close of draft swaps until draft night. If we see a trade done by then to get a second we know it’s on.

Our third round picks are worthless next year.

The only thing that would tempt North surely is us upgrading from 4 to 2, and downgrading our future 1st to North's future 2nd
I’d be pretty disappointed if we’re involving our F1 in any capacity considering the proximity in talent between the top four prospects.

Let North hold onto 2 and draft another 180cm midfielder if they want, we’re still guaranteed one of Jagga, FOS, Draper, or Lalor.

This is negligence if we are thinking like this. Losing elite players before their prime is shit and we aren't great at getting good returns. The return you are getting is also highly speculative.

In this day and age you have to place some weight (not much) on location.
