And how do you know Berry will have an impact straight away? It could be quite a big change for him physically and it might take a year or even 2. That's the thing with small forwards like him who don't operate on pure speed. It can take some time and I feel like in this draft, there's a good chance you find a similar player in a later pick. We absolutely have to target a mid/fwd with our first pick in order to give any chance of Rozee or JHF impacting up forwardJoe Berry is a need.
Rioli is turning 30 next year with at max 2-3 years good of football left in him. He also goes missing during the mid season for cultural reasons and injuries. He missed 8 games this season.
SPP is coming back from an ACL you can't expect him to be at his best its just not realistic and an unfair expectation to have.
Joe Richards is a 9 gamer. Not proven at AFL level just yet. He is an unknown we are speculating what he could be and all the best to him.
DBJ is an above average forward that became a forward out of necessity he isn't a natural forward.
Out of the 4 mentioned above Rioli and SPP are the only 2 ELITE forwards.
Charleson/ Anastasopoulos need a bit more time and Benny Barrett he was playing in the mid at SANFL U18/Reserve maybe to be hidden away so opposition recruiters don't keep an eye on him.
McEntee bye bye end of season 2025

Hard to know who’s going to be there at our pick but if the choice was between Hynes, Trainor, Berry, Lindsay & Hotton. For those who care, Ned Bowman spoke on 5AA and said 10 clubs interviewed him with Port and Crows being part of that 10. Wouldn't mind him as a late pick
The real sticky point with this draft is, whoever we select with our first pick determines who we'll select the following picks.
Interestingly enough, I've heard we have a lot of interest in Hynes, Trainor and Berry (I guess these 3 are very likely to be at our pick). Hynes has the highest ceiling of those 3, Trainor would signal a change in strategy to pick a Tall defender with a FRP, highly rated him but the concussions are a tad worrying. Berry, well he's loved in this board for some reason so I guess will make a few people here happy!
Would be interesting to see what we do if someone from the top 10 slipped through. I'm still very keen on sliding 13 back and bringing 29 forward in some way
How did Hynes test for speed and agility.Hard to know who’s going to be there at our pick but if the choice was between Hynes, Trainor, Berry, Lindsay & Hotton.
My preference
Lindsay
Trainor
Hotton
Hynes
Berry

Barratt will be there at 29 or even be there at 36.So, let's say come Draft day/night, we have our eye on a player, maybe two, and they get taken before pick 13?
As one poster postulated, we could trade 13 for the Swan's 19 and 22.
Maybe also 36 and 50 for Brisbane's 27 anf 66.
That gives us 19, 22, 27, 29 and 66.
It seems a given that picks under 30 will drop back with bid matchng 2 to 3 extra spots, whilst picks over 50 will likely move up the order by 10, maybe 12 spots.
Leaving that aside, in the order that they occur (without adjustment), we mcould "potentially" select:
19 - Hynes: Tall, strong marking, ball winning mid/forward, clean hands, elite hanball skills, passable footskills in field kicking, goodcaround goal, fast enough without being electric, demonstrates good repeat efforts.
22- Barrat: Excellent contested and intercept marking KPP, can play both ends of the ground well, decent kick.
27 - West/Gerryne/Sims: Mobile talls with decent foot speed and strong bodied types who can all ruck. West clean below his knees, Gerryne agile and kicks either foot, Simms gets good separation on the lead.
29 - Davis: Tall, powerful marking mid/forward, excellent endurance, impacts the scoreboard and gets a f aswir bit of it. Has decent foot speed. Quick with his hands, although some disposals miss the target ie. behind a player running past. Done well at WAFL League level already.
66 - Alger: Quick, nimble, agile small forward. Has tricks and X-factor. Impacts scoreboard well. Can take a hanger too.
Rookie: Burgoyne.
Cat B: Barrett.
We've deleted/retired 9 players to date, and brought 3 in already via trades. That's 6 spots open. We draft 7 as above, meaning we need one more delisting from either Mac and cheese, Charleson or Williams.

I think he's a lot better than Duursma, can play anywhereI have a big query on Langfords scope for improvement. I see him as a Duursma type who might have an ok year 1 but never improves on that, which is why i have him down the list
The Hunt for October the 31st: One more day for possible one more delisting. So, let's say come Draft day/night, we have our eye on a player, maybe two, and they get taken before pick 13?

Does 66 end up closer to 50-54 though? Late picks tend to come in a fair bit as clubs start to passBarratt will be there at 29 or even be there at 36.
Doubt Alger will be there at 66
That's how I would have them too but given the concussion questions on Trainor, I would have him below Travaglia. My realistic preference for our first pick would be:
Allan
Hotton
Shanahan
Trainor
Trevaglia
