I’m assuming that Kyle Marshall, Scully, Evans, Narkle, Boak and possibly Charleson will be farewelled
I would rather keep literally all of these players over Atkins.

Especially Boak. FFS. The idea of pushing out Port Adelaide champion Travis Boak to accommodate ****ing Atkins makes me ill.

I agree entirely. That’s what’s so shocking about this move. Can you imagine also letting a 6 ft 8 developing forward be delisted after his second year but keeping McEntee, Atkins and even Finlayson on our list.

Wouldn't mind us taking one of the Whitlock twins to develop into a KPD.

Any chance we can get more picks in the 20s?
How are we gonna fit a KPD in with Ratugolea, Clurey, Walsh, Moss and Kyle Marshall currently in the reserves?

You would think Marshall gets delisted; I have seen nothing that suggests he is gonna make it and if there is a suitor for Clurey, perhaps a spot opens up.

If Hotton is gone or Port trade with Sydney to split 13 I'm going to argue Dodson is really tough to go past. Best tap ruck out there but you could literally play him anywhere.

I get that Dodson maybe a generational talent perhaps. But to have 3 ruckman and then bring another one in is just going to cause a logjam at SANFL level where none of them get sufficient time in the role. We really needed Soldo to go

I just want us to draft and develop a 200cm pure KPD. Esava is a dogs breakfast, Clureys done and Marshalls not up to it.

That leaves Aliir, Walsh and crickets.
Do we really need a 200cm defender when our best defensive efforts was with a more mobile backline without Rat in it?
I agree though that we shouldn’t overestimate our stocks and draft a tall defender with a late second or third round pick. I like WA’s Clancy Dennis as an option. All Australian, 195cm, mobile and sets up play well. Kinda reminds me of past player Bishop.

Clancy Dennis is an option for me too. But if I'm being really honest I think if Marshall is playing he has to be moved to HB in that Houston role. If he's ruled out, then move Finlayson down back. Our forward half needs go smaller to force better entries. If not it's high and long bs again

A fourth ruck is a project player
A team should have:
1. a clear #1,
2. a decent backup if he goes down injured,
3. a guy who gets maybe 10 to 12 games in the A's a year (Dante), until he surpasses the #2 guy (that then gets delisted), and
4. a project kid, who spends 3 years muscling up and developing his craft, to the point where he snags a game or two in the A's in season 4.

So you play 3 rucks in the SANFL if they're all fit?

Kyle Marshall (pick 59) is 3-4 year developmental player. Delisting him after 2 years wouldn't make sense.
Yes he was injured and therefore his performance in the SANFL wasn't great but no point picking him in the draft and knowing he's a project player but don't invest in the kid.

Jacob Moss only played 2 quarters in the SANFL this year before being concussed. If we delist Marshall now and then Clurey at the end of 2025 we only have Walsh and Moss as our developing KPD.

I would keep Marshall for 1 more year before delisting him to see if he can get his body right and improve in SANFL.

A lot rides on the first half of 2025, and Ollie Lord. If he is a no go, then we need a key forward. No doubts Esava will get a go (especially as a second ruck) so it will be hard to know. Obvious doubts with Todd. We might see the 4 prong talls again for the first half of the year.

I think Jez still has much to give, and could play a utility role, anywhere on the ground. Would give us a marking target (if he was on a wing) we desperately need.

So, I actually think Pick 13 getting a creative mid with speed, who could play the new half forward flank role would be a good move, maybe even R1 worthy

Who is the best forward/ ruck available
I really hope Lord can become our forward/ruck for 25 beyond but there's no guarantee

Ehhh its perfectly fine. Even if Soldo is still here, it will absolutely only be for one more year.

I had heard some murmors of Port working with Sydney to swap 13 for 19,22 (maybe it was Collingwood complaining) but maybe now that Richmond has traded in more top end pics they would be more keen.

** I'm only posting this on the basis that if we are going to deal with Sydney, we are better off maybe dealing with Richmond **

It looks like they will hold: 1,6,10,11,18,20,23,24 as a minimum .... if we were happy to deal with Sydney would be be better dealing with Richmond, and would they be more inclined to downgrade 23 or 24 for 29 as part of the deal..... or we could give them Soldo back, surely he's still under warranty.

I wonder if Richmond will be open to trading pick 10.. or even 6 with a good enough offer.

Really 6 is where we want to be. (But probably unlikely unless they managed to get pick 2 from North)

10 is good too
