AFL Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan has released profiles on the top tall defenders

Joel Cochran
State: NSW/ACT
State League Club: Sydney Swans Academy
Community Club: UNSW Eastern Suburbs Bulldogs
Date of Birth: 28/03/2006
Height: 194cm

A super athletic and versatile defender who can also play on a wing. Is strong overhead and has a great work ethic. Was impressive for the Sydney Swans Academy in the Coates Talent League, averaging 18 disposals in three matches. Played all four games with the Allies at the National Championships, averaging 14 disposals and 4.5 marks, including having 21 disposals in an impressive performance in the win over Western Australia. Also showed slices of his potential playing for the Australia U18 team against VFL outfit Coburg, as well as an appearance for Sydney’s VFL side against Collingwood. A state-level athlete in the 400m and 800m events, he stood out at the national Draft Combine with his time of 6:05 in the 2km time trail ranked first.

He would listen to blokes like Shifta Sheahan mix a few up , he's a fraud as a guru . You are better than him

I'll take that as some compliment, though I can't stand Sheehan personally, the bloke refuses to name any issues with any player, could be picked at pick 70 and he's the next Bontempelli all round up as one.

I think Joel will likely play on a wing in the VFL to begin with while Edwards and Snell are given priority alongside Francis. He'll get some time down back intercepting, especially when Francis isn't available while travelling elsewhere as an emergency.

If we draft a KPF, Buller stays fit, or we move to 2 x KPFs in seniors, then Hamling may need to play in defence too.

Did the classic dumb draft prospect mistake when evaluating a non-white player: the comparison player is also non-white.

Leo Lombard = Touk Miller
Isaac Kako = Izak Rankine

Are we to really believe Touk Miller is really the best comparison for Lombard across the entire league? Or could it be that they just happen to look more like each other so therefore it feels like they play similarly? I don't know myself, but it seems lazy to me.

Actually think it's a very good comparison and the look about them has nothing to do with it. Basically play the same way, except Lombard uses it a bit better under pressure. Kako literally is the closest clone to Rankine you'll ever see agains has nothing to do with look. Where Kako ends who knows but it's a very good comparison for people that like to compare playing styles.
