It was an arguing technique - he was diminishing Neale’s efforts based on their opponents I was pointing out you could do the same with Selwood based on Sydney being equally as non existent in his solitary flag captaincy.

Never said Selwood wasn’t a great player. He was a good captain. I don’t think he was on the Hodge/Voss level of leadership though. He was pumped up by the media more than those two and I think they were far better captains of their footy clubs. And for mine Neale belongs on the same level as Selwood in terms of his leadership of a footy club and that shouldn’t be dismissively rebutted in my view. Having heard from people who know the full ins and outs of what happened with the Lions shenanigans in Vegas (don’t ask me for them I was told in confidence) - what the leadership of that club have done to overcome that, the heartbreaking grand final loss and poor start to the season - it is amazing leadership from Andrews, Neale and Fagan - Selwood, to my knowledge, never had to resurrect a Cats season under similar circumstances.

Selwood probably never had to resurrect a Cats season for obvious reasons (theyre always in the hunt) and possibly due to the standards he set at the club. I would be childish to deny his capabilities. He's well spoken of in regard to his work around the club by everyone.

The supply that forward line got during the season was ridiculous. The only reason their mids were kicking goals was because they didn't have a hell of a lot of confidence that the tall forwards would kick them

That's a silly hypothetical and conveniently forgets the massive I50 tally Hawks put on the board basically every game since the halfway point of the season. So the supply Chol was getting was also ridiculous. You talk of Heeny, Warner and Gulden, I'll show you Moore, McDonald etc. I'm all for supporting your team, but the bias here is laughable. Chol is a solid player, but it's no secret he frustrates the fans - any game I was at this year at the G', you could hear the collective groans.

big O sacrificed himself for team in that Geelong game. His repeat efforts after dislocating a should just cant be ignored. His mindset is all about team and that was evident all final series and grand final day

Relative to other regular key forwards >=20 games, Amartey had:

2nd lowest disposal tally
3rd lowest player rating
3rd lowest overall marks
4th lowest % score involvements

I think the part that reflects worse on Amartey and his actual quality as a footballer is that when Sydney were firing on all cylinders, he kicked 31 goals in 13 games, and then when they were struggling to get going in the second half of the year he kicked 12 in 12 games.

Sydney being "figured out" impacted his game immensely, and a big part of that was him being figured out.
