IMO the early byes help GnR, assuming you have 12 premo/10 rookies on field you get to drop 4 rookie scores in 4 of the first 6 rounds. After than we're doing upgrades so you start getting the worst rookies off field.

Having said that there is almost no choice but to punt on a couple of MP's in the forward line.
I agree with this ....the question is, after the first 6 rounds, 17 remaining ......which is better ...the short game or long game ?

My hunch is, with so many trades .....it's important to get off to a strong start ....will be difficult to bridge the gap later

Yep, more trades = a sprint, close to impossible to bridge the gap post mid season when all teams are the same and the leaders will have trades left for corrections

Yeah that seemed the pattern last year. It was difficult to move up the rankings much as teams got very similar.

The counter argument, is you sprint, use trades ....and then get hit with massive injuries / concussion protocols

I guess everyone will be in that boat .....the danger IMO, is Coaches not placing a high value on trades, because we have the extra trades .....that could bring a few unstuck

It's a good point, you think back to last yr with 36 and not many had enough to bye flip at the mid yr byes, only 4 more this yr so not like we'll have 10 left late and nothing to do with them

Surely the subs have to be announced with the teams on Thursdays/Fridays. Naming them makes 0 difference to the clubs but a massive difference for people who play SC/fantasy. If nothing changes SC is gonna be a complete shitshow this year. Imagine when we get rookies named in the 23 playing on Sunday and they end up getting dropped to sub at the last minute and we have no option to replace them.

There are more midpricers this year and I think those who go the midprice direction could have a good advantage if they get the right players.

Think someone like JDavey or Seymour Skinner would be better placed here, or Barry R if he is still around, to name just a couple.
First thought was that it favoured GnR early, but might not be that cut and dried. Feels like it's not that big a difference in bye scoring (early rounds, later rounds different story, have more premos by then) and else, the right value selections might work out ahead(?)

But depends on whether the logic below makes sense, have a feeling I might be missing something.
Was a 10 minute job, so fair chance I did, and feels a bit counter-intuitive - my first instinct was the exact same as yours.

I'd better go and post a shithouse gif to resume normal transmission after this.

Yeah JD did a video about it.

I think whichever approach you take what matters most is getting the picks right.
