How will we fit both Battle and Barrass in the side?

DGB and maybe even Serong will surely see the writing on the wall if we manage bring both in.

It provides versatility for mine. Weddle, Hardwick and Sicily are free to play around the ground more. Frost is also 31 so Serong could be viewed as a long term replacement. DGB would likely have his papers stamped based on current output however.

Barrass also gives us a highly rated KPD which I feel is important because there is no guarantee that Blanck will develop into an A-grade AFL level KPD. I sure hope he does - but if we are looking at contending in the near term then I would prefer the assurance.

I admit I have only watched H.Reid about 4 times on TV and in one of those games (think it was the Richmond one) he played very well, the other times I saw him and took notice he seemed to go all DGB for long periods of the game.
Maybe I need to watch him more but IMO I’d take Sheezel over him if I had a choice.

Tear the fabric of the club apart?

Our players would back in whatever trade needed to happen to improve the list( and you can bet they’d be all in on getting Reid if they thought it was a chance) just like when we traded out JOM and Tom.
This is the club that traded out Trent Croad to get Luke Hodge (and Sammy!)

Why would you tear the fabric of the club apart for a single player? Absolutely no way I'd be giving up a single good player for him. If that means we don't get him so be it.
And this is why you are not the list manager....do you recall giving up Trent Croad and Luke McPharlin for the Luke Hodge pick??

Ward has played the last two weeks and looked good. Doubt he goes out of the 22 now that he's getting midfield minutes.
Do you think he'd consider a move given he was drafted pick 7 and has played only 9 games with an average of less than 15 possessions in his 3rd season? You'll need to define "looked good" for me.

For mine I think he'd be frustrated with the lack of opportunities to play midfield minutes.

Why would any of our young players agree to a trade to the Eagles?

It comes down to opportunity and money. WCE is rebuilding so are unloading older players (Barrass, Darling, who else?) which gives young developing players game time but also opportunity to earn better money than they would earn elsewhere. Keep in mind that the Hawks team is beginning to take shape so players will know or be advised that they may have limited opportunity. If we want Barrass and also look like picking up Battle then what opportunity does Serong have of getting a spot? Can't let him languish as a depth player (this is where I think DGB comes in - depth). This will be the case for another 2, 3 or 4 players on the list. If Sam Mitchell thinks the team is ready to challenge then it is a perfect scenario because the club is on the way up, needs a player like Barrass and has the capital to make the trade happen. I don't think any other club has what we have to offer the Eagles.

Do you think he's sitting there going "I was pick 7, I should be getting more games!"? He's not that entitled.

He's a hard worker, he grew up a Hawks fan and has the Coach telling the world that he'll play 200 games for the club. Did you not see Sam's reaction to him post-Collingwood game? I don't think he'd be frustrated at all.

Since he's come back his last two games have been much improved from his previous attempts and since you ask for a definition his improvement relates to finding targets, hitting targets and better spatial awareness.
As long as he keeps this form up he'll be staying a senior player.

Wards form reminds me a lot of Andrew Brayshaws at Fremantle over his first 40 games.

Ward has just played his 39th game.
In Brayshaws first 39 games he played a lot of wing and half forward. Averaged 15-20 disposals. 60-70 odd fantasy points. He 'looked good' in patches, but it's hard for a 19/20 year old to break into a well established midfield.

From game 44 onwards Brayshaw has gone on to average close to 30 disposals, 105-110 fantasy points, and is one of the premiere two way running midfielders in the comp.

Not saying Ward will be as good as Brayshaw, but they share a lot of similarities and the club are incredibly confident he's going to push on and become a key cog in our developing engine room.

I don't think he'll be frustrated at a lack of opportunities. He will be frustrated at himself.

They also used Brayshaw as a tagger though, that was how he got the broken jaw.

How does Barrass rank in defensive 1v1’s in the league? Does he play predominantly FB on the gorillas or athletic types? Good spoiler? Any tricks? Keen to hear a bit more / stats..

Just reading that according to Tom Morris Josh Battle is on around 400,000 dollars this year. He would be crazy to knock back the significant amount we have offered him which leaves me to confidently believe we will land him.

The Saints offer is apparently similar number to ours, they are playing on his comfort of being in a known environment hoping that the $$ is close enough he stays where he knows
