But the problem is, why would Harley want to go to Richmond at the moment?

To get there, the Tigers are selling two low first rounders so at best it is 3 years before they can draft any top end talent to go around him (also when Tas comes along to screw it all up). He would be anchored to the bottom of the ladder for years with no more midfield support than he currently has.

Realistically, if Reid chose to leave, it would be to Geelong (supported as kid), Pies (Daicos/Crowds/hope for a bounce), Blues (Cripps, Walsh in the window), Bombers (trained in VFL) or Hawks imo.

I reckon Sam learnt a lot from the offseason when trying to move Tom + JOM. That and also from last offseason failed acquisitions either some were a blessing in disguise. He’s a smart man is Sam.
