Anyone know what's happened to Brandon Ryan after we traded him last year? 26yrs old turning 27 this year and has only played one game this season

Hell no. I think he's versatile in Defence & bringing in Barrass helps Frost - doesn't replace him. Definitely keep.

Besides, 2nd Round Picks aren't what we need.

We have PLENTY of young talent - if we're getting more, it needs to be better than what a pick ~40 is likely to give.

IF he asked for a trade, then I'd much prefer he was used to upgrade our existing hand or in a trade that brings in an F1.

Example
Sydney:
Frost + 'pies 2nd (~30) for opposition 2024 1st (~20) + F3 (~52)

How are we fitting all of - Scrimshaw, Battle, Sicily, Frost, Barrass, Hardwick, Impey, Amon and maybe Weddle in the same side/backline? I think we all presume Weddle will move up the field next season, but even without him that's eight players.

Blanck, McCabe, Serong would all be developing or depth.

Even if he isn't a regular, Frosty would still be 'first reserve' for any injury or suspension issues with Sic, Scrim, B1 and B2 and that is assuming we don't move one of them forward which probably makes him best 22 still.

I wouldnt begrudge Frosty looking elsewhere for security with a newborn on the way but he is contracted and imo it would take more than a late second from the Swans to agree (I.e. their first for Frost and our F2)

Weren't they also sniffing around Finn? wonder if there is anyone at their end you could entice over? Would love someone like Braeden Campbell in the team.

I mentioned this earlier but with the draft happening after the trade period if we were to somehow snag a F1 for Frosty then they could turn around knowing full well that we've traded him and demand 2 x 1st for Barrass. I'm not saying they would but they could very well pray on our desperation and try to bend us over. Just worth a though that's all.
Simples - you do the Barrass trade BEFORE the Frost trade, so the value of the Frost trade is both unknown & irrelevant to Eagles.
Also makes sense to bring in a new FB before you send out the existing one or you risk something going wrong & being left with no FB.

Hardwick to FP (replace Breust)
Sicily forward to replace Gunston
Weddle to Wing (Right)

5 active players on the Bench also helps us a lot (need this to come in).

Leaves:

FB: Frost.....Barrass......Impey
HB: Scrim......Battle......Amon

You'd then imagine that Weddle, Sicily, Day, Hardwick & maybe Frenchie/Ward rotate through HB, whilst Battle & maybe Scrimshaw drift Forward for periods throughout the game.

I know the person behind this account. He is absolutely laughing his head off seeing this.

I made a meme once which got widely circulated to the point that somebody got publicly sacked for sharing it. Was a wild couple of days.

That would be one way around it as long as things went smoothly. I have a feeling that we’ll end up having Frost declaring that he wants to stay but we shall see.

Frost had one of the best seasons. I think there is still room for him next year.
Barrass to take the 1
Frost to take the 2
Battle to take the 3rd tall
Scrim to play the Sic role

Sic to play forward rotating with Battle. Weds to move up the ground.

i love frosty and super happy he got some recognition this year. But next year is likely his last with us - he is getting older, we’ve brought in others and there is blanck and mccabe coming through.

So if he wants more contract years, not saying he does, then i think we let him go with our blessing. In the same way, we couldn’t expect much back in a trade for giving up 12 mths of footy - late 2nd at best.

i hope he wants to stay and be part of it but i would assume the conversation is very open and honest about role next season and future beyond that. then decision is up to him.

I take my hat off to Frost had a fantastic year adjusting his game by improving his discipline and composure …… can’t remember one kamikaze headless chook run all year. He played such an important role for us in that defensive back 6.

We always talk about a point of difference that a player brings to the table. One thing that Frost has is hard arse will put his head in spots that most wouldn’t try and wont back down to anyone! No one better to have in the trenches in times of aggro. He has everyone’s back and makes his teammates walk taller. Love Frosty.

When it was reported that we were chasing Barrass/Battle Sam publicly said that Frost won’t be pushed out will still be in the best 22. I am also in the camp that believes that B1&B2 coming in will release Siss and Weds to other areas of the ground which will give Sam a lot more to play with when moving the magnets. Please stay Frosty as you are a Hawk through and through

Swans don’t have a 2nd round pick and we won’t be handing over any of our first rounders for Frost
I guess next year we can have two of your defensive trade targets on our list then.

Doesn’t bother me personally

Frost is a journeyman and won’t play in the same team as Barrass, I’m guessing he’s seen the writing in the wall and had his head turned
Good luck scoring against Sicily, Scrimshaw, Barrass, Battle, Frost and Hardwick with Logan ‘not from 55’ McDonald and Joel ‘one game a year’ Amarty.

Caj if you are going to use our board for some like-farming over on the Swans board you could at least be truthful about it next time!

Our little visitor at least poses an interesting point - Sydney's draft hand is presently picks 18,19 and 56. I doubt they'd be willing to hand over either 18 or 19 and I doubt we would accept pick 56 - so it would be future picks or some pick swaps if Frost wants to take them up on their offer.
