Brisbane have heaps of talented players, that’d be the target.

Rayner has 1 year left, Morris and Lohmann as well. Bailey and Fletcher would be enticing too.

They need more draft capital to match bids, they won’t be giving us good picks.

Yeah hang on, I’ve just spent the last 3 months being lectured about how a soon to be 29 year old key position player with significant injury issues HAS to be worth 2 first rounders, in what universe would we ship him off to Brisbane for just pick 18
Some will argue that Barrass is a better player but Barrass has always been the 2nd key defender while Lewis has been the 1st forward. Then Age comes into it with Lewis having his best football ahead of him and Barrass is just looking to maintain a standard for a few years then retirement.

I'd say they'd be at least equal in trade value.

And in terms of bargaining power, we can afford to have Barrass next year, we have Serong, Frost, Blank, Battle, Sicily, Scrimshaw, McCabe contracted as key backs and could resign Phillips too. We also have Lewis contracted and required so will want to hold onto him.

Brisbane have a huge hole without Daniher that Brandon Ryan cannot fill. They cannot sit and wait they need to fill that spot. If I were them i'd go for Tom Lynch instead.

West Coast, made the call long ago that Barrass was out for draft picks while he is still worth something. They don't want to hold onto him as his value declines and then leaves them with a hole in defence with he and mcgovern retiring as they start to climb up again. They need him gone and to get a kid in who will be there from 2027-2032 when they'll hope to challenge.

I’d let Mitch go for 2x firsts

I’d love to see him get fit and win a premiership with us however maybe a fresh start is exactly what he needs

We are in the drivers seat for this though. Brisbane in the premiership window and need someone like Mitch so we aren’t taking unders.

The first round pick this year would open up an option like one of the Whitlock twins.

Spend the cash we’re saving on Mitch’s contract on a 2025 free agent

You can do alot with pick 19 it's the best pick after a top 10 pick I think, it's the first pick on the second night, clubs come for it on draft night, we may have clubs offer F1's for it on draft night, if we don't give our one to WC having multiple F1 could help us move up the draft table to get into the top 10 next year or go after a established young player.

Make that pick 20 after Perrymans compo

No it isn't. First pick on 2nd night is whoever holds the first second round pick.

Richmond hold it.

Since North's 2 priority picks at end of 1st round exists, the first second round pick was pick 21.

After Battle compo, its 22. 23 after Perryman's Band1/2 compo

Add Levi & Lombard bids, 25 will be first pick on second night.

Don't want to trade Lewis but if he is F1 + a very good player( Lohmann??) maybe

Clubs can come for any pick, at any time.

Being pick 19, or whatever is the first 2nd round pick, just means they just have more time to think about it, that's all.

Big chance Mitch doesn't play a game next year. Makes the concept of him being a 'Daniher replacement' completely redundant.

Won't happen.
Where is the idea coming from that he won't play football next year? He is a fortnight away from his first run on the alter G treadmill. Based on his recovery to date, barring any mishaps, he would be looking at a return to playing at around Easter time next year.

Ashcroft just won the norm smith so I could understand them backing their medical and fitness staff to have him playing in the back part of next season

His durability over his whole career likely the bigger concern, as I imagine it is for us.

He rarely gets a good, solid stretch with his body.

If anybody was going to take the full 12+ months to recover from an ACL, Mitch would be at the top of my list from an expectation perspective.
