Overall composition isn't terrible but it's just so grotesque in a lot of smaller ways.

I like that the Kanga statue has somehow become a somewhat Leigh Matthews one instead.

Well I just asked an AI art website what an optimal off-season haul of Baz, Battle and Melican would look like all standing in front of the Kanga statue and I don't think it disappointed at all:

The guy in the middle is so cross-eyed - he's looking to the team mates either side of him while looking straight ahead - My job is safe for at least another month

Reading between the lines Smith, Macrae, Daniel, Busslinger, at least one of Lobb/English. There's probably a couple more unhappy that's not public you'd think.
There were whispers the other week that the Bont wasn’t happy over the offseason as well.

Does Calsher's performance on the weekend change anyone's mind about trading Lewis for an early pick or Thulstrop/Windsor?
No. Would be the definition of selling a player at their lowest, possibly one of the stupidest things we could do with Lewis at this point.

Calsher is still half a decade off his best footy if he does actually kick on, Gunston is about half a year off retirement and Chol clearly isn't the answer. Lewis is no less necessary now than he ever was.

No. And nobody is going to offer an early pick for Lewis.

Melbourne would trade their first, same for Collingwood next year - if that nets a pick 12ish I would take it, not because of Dear either

Not sure where all this trading Lewis stuff has come from but I hope there’s nothing to it, he’s probably our most important player!

Fantasy land Bigfooty stuff presuming that we could get a king's ransom for him.

Yet we give up a top 4 pick for Bailey Smith coming off an ACL? Is that considered a kings ransom?

Look at Doedee this year.
No one is saying we give up a top 4 pick for him

Yes, crazy to believe that a 24 year old midfielder who has averaged 33 touches as a 21/22 year old might command a decent price versus a key forward who has never played more than 15 games in a season.

Key Forwards are seen as more valuable.

This is the exact same argument people were trotting out trying to substantiate that we would get a second rounder for Kosi. Look how that turned out.

Bont is a star! İnvolved in 10 of their goals against us and pretty much every week. Wouldn't surprise me if he jumped ship to the pies or cats for premiership glory before it's too late.

This is going to be a harsh take, but I see Lewis in the Nick Holland/Ben Dixon mould.

In that both Dixon and Holland were transitional forwards. Were most needed as they provided stability and reliability, but they weren’t going to take us forward. They were valuable as they protected the next lot of forwards in Mark Williams, Buddy Franklin and Jarrod Roughead that did take us forward.

So the this fantasy of trading Lewis sounds a little bit absurd, as both him and Chol are both needed until we can blood new forwards that will take us further. I have high hopes that Calsher will be one of these forwards, but he will need a partner.
