It could be a Lewis / Dear combo that see us head back into the 8.This is going to be a harsh take, but I see Lewis in the Nick Holland/Ben Dixon mould.
In that both Dixon and Holland were transitional forwards. Were most needed as they provided stability and reliability, but they weren’t going to take us forward. They were valuable as they protected the next lot of forwards in Mark Williams, Buddy Franklin and Jarrod Roughead that did take us forward.
So the this fantasy of trading Lewis sounds a little bit absurd, as both him and Chol are both needed until we can blood new forwards that will take us further. I have high hopes that Calsher will be one of these forwards, but he will need a partner.
Nick Holland played 3 games in afl in 2005. He didn’t support buddy/rough at all. This is going to be a harsh take, but I see Lewis in the Nick Holland/Ben Dixon mould.

I'm not sure what he's like off the field, but if he's a good trainer/club man, I'd look at Bailey Dale if he came cheaply.
Does Calsher's performance on the weekend change anyone's mind about trading Lewis for an early pick or Thulstrop/Windsor?
Not sure where all this trading Lewis stuff has come from but I hope there’s nothing to it, he’s probably our most important player!

Apparently a rumour going around at the dogs since last year that the Bont wants out, not a trade either will just retire. How much truth in that who knows.Bont is a star! İnvolved in 10 of their goals against us and pretty much every week. Wouldn't surprise me if he jumped ship to the pies or cats for premiership glory before it's too late.
Are people still going to be so keen to trade Lewis if Calsher has 3 touches and no score this weekend?
It's madness to consider trading Lewis for draft picks. It sets the rebuild back years if we're waiting for a young key forward to develop alongside Dear.
Aaron Cadman was pick 1 about 18 months ago and he still isn't getting the world on fire yet. And the Giants are in a premiership window.
Looks like Primetrain

If we traded Lewis and got two top end tall talents is an interesting question of if we could get by in the following 12-24 months.
Ramsden will have another preseason in him, Chol will be 28. Gunston probably gone but maybe Sicily or weddle spend some time forward (or scrim or frost is Blanck is back). Dear another preseason etc. DGB into his 5th seasons etc.
Personally I'd like to see Dear take Gunston's job off him, and play as the third tall alongside Lewis and Chol.

Charlie Curnowplayed 15 games over 3 seasons. He then has gone on to win the Coleman in the following 2 seasons.PLAYERCARDSTART30Charlie Curnow

Trading Lewis (who is 2 years younger than Curnow) would be the dumbest thing you could do. It is laughable it is being discussed considering how hard it is to find a star key forward which he is when fit. Take the time, get him right.
Relax!
Podisiadly could stay on the park and had a better goal average.Lewis is no Curnow his more a James Podsiadly from Geelong.
The way Brisbane are going they may want him up there.
And injuries seem to be a lot better up there.
Apparently from a very noted bulldogs family name, thought it sounded ridiculousNever heard that and i do hear quite a few about the dogs
Lewis is 25! Madness to trade him out. He is not only our best kpf , when fit, he is ONE of the best in the league. I'm frustrated with his injury record as much as anyone but there's no way in hell are we dumb enough to push him out.
A future frwd line of Lewis, Chol, Dear as the three talls looks as dangerous as we're likely to get within the next few years at the very least. I reckon we just wait let things settle and see how he performs in the next 18 months before we execute the poor bugger.
