He is a handy type run of the mill player that has had his market value pumped up due to playing in a succesfull era.

Strengths
Attitude Puts his head in the hole
Keeps chugging away late in games

Weaknesses
Football Average foot skills
Lacks pace

Value 500-550k year max.
Well said but have further summarised.
Dewnior , you don't think Robertson is worth a F2 from WCE to BNE? He wants to go home, isn't best 22 and was a high draft pick. Seems fair to me
Can categorically say we wouldn’t trade our F2 for Dev. A dodgy prawn has ruined his career.

Have noticed the Lewis trade talk and FWIW recruiting Barrass and Battle whilst keeping Frost will allow huge flexibility if Lewis was to leave for good draft/player compensation. Conceivably you could play Battle, Sicily and Weddle forward if you needed to whist still having two rock solid KPDs, one of which being an elite interceptor to pick off and distribute to your running HBFs. Not trying to suggest you should trade Lewis but possibly worth considering.

Lewis is not happening mate

Forgive me, but where did all the speculation of Mitch Lewis being traded or wanting to be traded come from?

Forgive my intrusion but I’m assuming he is quite reputable considering how many people here are taking it quite seriously?
We have no other information.

Currently, the upshot could be from Lewis being traded to Brisbane to him going there there for a holiday, and any point in between

In fairness the end of our season showed that Lewis could be more of a luxury than we had previously considered. Particularly with Calsher’s meteoric rise. I’m willing to consider a Lewis trade but I’d want a decent bounty in return.
Opposite, for mine.

I reckon it showed how desperate we are for a primary KPF to partner Dear (2nd KPF) & allow Chol to play FWD/Ruck.

The final against Port, sure. Up until that point we had no issue racking up winning scores with our forward setup. Given the smalls we have I think Chol/Dear could be relied upon so long as there’s another taller forward there like Gunston was this year. The Chol/Gunston/Dear combo with our fleet of smalls looked more dangerous than in any game Lewis played this year - granted poor Mitch never really got to play Hokball.

If Brisbane are sniffing around for Lewis, other clubs would be too…if we trade him we should get a good deal done.
Brisbane are also sniffing around Harry McKay, Tom Lynch, Nick Riewoldt and Jason Dunstall. They are doing plenty of sniffing

We definitely developed our scoring chain as the season progressed, but a lot of the time we required Chol to play a role counter to his strengths (classic BF, that posters blame him for this ). He did extremely well & probs added some attributes to his game that weren't evident before, but when the pressure of Finals hit & our mids were restricted (vs Port), we were far less productive.

I don't think we can compare Lewis' few outings to late season Chol/Gunston/Dear, nor can we go into 2025 expecting Gunston to contribute like he did in 2024.

Think about it, would you trade a F2 which is going to be in the low 20s for Dev?

Third rounder more likely. Can play a role but his disposal is awful. Has a crack but Eagles fans would burn the joint down if they did that.

The issue is not playing a bad game, the issue is playing a bad game whilst also not being team orientated.

That’s the complete opposite of what Chol was against the Bulldogs. He halved contests for Calsher and provided crumbing opportunities for our small forwards.

We want to win these games, not end up like a Port that fails at the pointy end of the season

Mitch Lewis has to stay, very important that we don't lose a talented kpf all the while stacking the backline with talented kpd's. He is one player we have on the list that can clunk marks at highest point and cleanly. The lions are doing the right thing, feeling out who's available to Jag to their club as they are desperate for a kpf.

A one-post drive-by by R'n'L
R'n'L is definitely ITK and he posts as he hears what's happening behind the scenes. Obviously things are fluid and most his posts never come to fruition. Just check his posts from last years trade period.

People need to stop hyperventilating every time he makes an appearance and keep in mind that yes what he has posted is a work in progress but it may also fizzle out. And again, don't target him if they don't, we love every time he contributes on this forum.

Sent from my iPhone using BigFooty.com

R&L is reputable but a lot of what is said also doesn't eventuate. Just the nature of the beast.

Brisbane probably reached out to some tall forward prospects who may be interested in joining. Whether it leads to anything serious is another matter.

Agreed. I'm pretty sure Chol was carrying a fair few niggles leading up into the finals and it was effecting a lot of what he was doing very well during the season which was mainly brining the ball to ground up forward. Newmo89 did you get a chance to speak to anyone about anything that he might've been dealing with?

By my count he had 3-4 very heavy landings where he got up pretty ginger. In the game against the Dogs where he looked very frustrated on the bench where Sam was consoling him a couple of times I reckon he looked like a player that knew what he wanted to do but with whatever he was dealing with (ie cork or sprain etc) his body just wasn't allowing to but to his credit he just stuck it put and gave whatever he could ie tackle pressure and trying his best to halve aerial contests.

That's fair, I was thinking it would be late 20's with next year's free agents, NGA and northern academy and FS pushing it back somewhat like last year.
He's certainly down the pecking order at BNE and I can't see him getting a look in but does have a crack and despite the iffy disposal, can play.
Something for him to focus on and improve.

You don't win Premierships in the first half of a season. You'd think with the kind of season the Lions had, a Lions fan would know this. This is exactly why everyone here thinks you're a dickhead.
I think that’s unfair I don’t think everyone thinks he’s a dickhead. But ironically the only ones that would think that would be the dickheads.😉

G'day Hawkers, here checking out the Mitch Lewis rumour, had been really hoping we give our young ruckman Smith more of a run and restructure, so fed up with hearing about all the delisted players we need to bring in, but if the Lewis trade happened am sure would get on board with it.

IMO the only way we could make it happen would be a player swap, we don't currently have enough points to bring Ashcroft and Sam Marshall (academy kid in - Bog in under 18 GF) this year, so need to turn pick 20 into more points as it is.

With the revision to the academy discounts next year really need to keep next year's first to bring another academy kid called Annable in (projecting as a 1st rounder at this stage) so basically certainly don't have the draft currency to get any deal done.

I love Bailey and all our players (we've just won a flag) Zorko and Lester getting on but both expected to hold their place next year, lost Joe, but Levi Ashcroft, Kiddy Coleman and Linc McCarthy should be pressing for places in the team this year, so maybe there is a premiership lion looking to return to Melbourne?

If so you guys would be one of the first teams they'd want to play for!

The 'steak knife' or fringe type players who are AFL standard on are list are Dev Robertson (linked to Eagles), Prior (linked to Essendon) Bruce Reville showed promised this year but the team getting harder to crack into, Darcy Garndiner but probably wrong age profile for your list, also have Doedee another two time acl victim in the wings but clearly a big question mark there.

Have a great summer and good luck with your exciting team next year.. :)

How the hell are you going to accommodate all these free hit 1st rounders?
